Is there some websites or clubs near Pompton Lakes, NJ where I'd be able to find more information about these runs, like where to buy a speeder or where to find parts or kits to build my own? I love trains as it is, and being able to ride the rails around here would be so much fun!!! If anyone has any information for me, reply to my comment or send me a PM, please!!!
It *is* awesome fun. I rode with them last fall. Did flagging because they didn't have permission to lower the gates (it's just a switch inside the railcar). Oh, oops, I see that somebody had to be towed.
Have you ridden this line before? I'll be there. It is, in my opinion, the most photographic line in New Jersey, especially on the westbound run on Saturday. I'll be on flagging and crossing protection duty Saturday, and riding on Sunday.
my wife and i will both be there for this. the last time i went was in 2001.where in riverdale are they setting the cars on?when i was there last we set on in butler yard.
The set-on point should be on the Pompton Industrial branch near the old Bulkmatic bulk transfer satellite yard. The location is Hamburg Turnpike, between Newark Pompton Turnpike and Post Lane.
Hey, did you make it for the Narcoa trips last weekend? I was hoping to get to meet you but didn't really know where to look. On Saturday, I flagged crossings and Sunday I rode in the lead car #1205 with the operator and pilot, Steve Weiss. Which car did you have?
What is this ? Is this an annual event or something ? How do I get in on it ? I grew up in West Milford but we did our shopping in Butler. I used to play in the park just off camera to the right. Remember when RT 23 was only two lanes north of Echo Lake Rd ? God bless the Meadetown A and P !!!
Kinda makes me homesick for my old home town of Butler. This is at Booton Ave. and Main St. ( downtown ) How many miles did we walk those tracks getting from one place to another...
Not to get picky, but this actually the interesetion of Main Street and Park Place. Boonton Ave doesn't start until about 200 yards up the road at the four way intersection. :)
The driver of the SUV at the start of the video needs a hard punch to the head.

The rear car was pushing that car not towing. It had to be pushed up to the car ahead so it could be towed.

You're absolutely right, my bad. I forgot about that being called Park Place. Back then I only knew it as being on the way to Nees Bakery...
