complete bullshit! We need to make it a law that if you don't speak engish you cannot work for the government. I called the local social security office and everyone I spoke to spoke perfect spanish but horrible english, I had to drive there and request to speak to the supervisor because I couldn't understand the clerks. They thought because my last name is latin that i spoke spanish. I don''t care if i did speak another langauge the only language that should be spoken is english.This is the USA

how many languages does the president speak, maybe he should be sacked as the Hispanics do not understand him. Wonder how he would like that - maybe then he will wake up and realise it is not his colour that is the problem but his language. There should be one main langauge - English as it is the majority (at the moment!!). I was pointing out that the most important man in the land who has his finger on the big red button speaks English, why then should a member of one of the most important groups in America (Fire, Police, Medical etc) be required to speak another language other than English. What happens when the spanish speakers try to evacuate citizens who do not speak Spanish - why do they not have to learn English, rather than an American change to fit in with a newcomer - it should be the reverse

ok all valid points. and in those other countries where they are multilingual, you are still required to know the countries officail language(s). if you dont then you dont get hired. if you move to a country learn thier language dont expect them to learn yours. its wrong that these people were laid off. and who hires people for these kinds of jobs who cant speak the language they are supposed to. if i moved to maxico i would learn spanish, i would not expect mexicans to learn english just for me

It is well known that americans can only speak hardly just one language, I've been in Europe and Scandinavia many times, it is normal to find people speaking 3 and sometimes 4 languages!

2) I don't much like Americans, but I feel complete sympathy for the average person there. This is not a fair scenario and is not just happening in America.
