i cant say i hate it... i cant say i like it... its his art and i guess my taste doesn't suit this type of music yet because im still in piano grades :/
I'd still call this music, Noise is after all a "genre" of music as well, if we're going to be playing /that/ game. It's really just an expression in aural form. That's exactly what Noda is doing here, expressing, every bit of abrasion and smashing and screaming and random is part of that expression.
There are some moments of beauty in this. That is for sure. I would hate to see the sheet music. And hate to do all of the practicing required. There are some moments where you can tell that he does some mistakes (which is pretty amazing as the piece is so clearly atonal --> hearing something that is not correct is weird). I would hate to be the piano. I assume that there was a tuner on hand for whoever played after you in this recital?
This is an insult to the whole concept of music. This is noise, not music and he's old enough to recognize that. He thinks he's being funny and is just trying to get a lot of attention for hits on this video. He wants like a million views, perhaps this vid will be shown on the news, and maybe he'll get his own Reality show. lol NOT!
A country where this kind of art is ignored and the performer is blamed by stupid people can never be a country of people that is culturally matured. But, you should protest against lawless evils instead of playing inside of small inner circle!
What I think is that dodecaphinosm shouldn't give the impression of 'noise', 'rant', 'craziness'. But many of the implementations from this guy, like playing with a foot, shouting, and playing notes with 7 octaves in between, show that he has no true musical appreciation. It's like if someone, who calls himself a pro-abortion supporter, stabbed random pregnant woman on the street in their bellies. Just as that, this isn't a true dodecaphinst. He is deaf, he has it all wrong..
Maybe this wouldn't be so irritating if we wouldn't see the performer. I think there's a clash between noise music (which I like) and this "look at me, I can play 234892 notes per second!!11"-crap we see so often on youtube.
I actually found the piece exciting (wouldn't necessarily want to listen to it every day) but as a professional pianist I would give a couple of years of my life for Mr Noda's technique. Genius!
I'm sorry, but it's bad, really bad. I'm sure this guy is talented in music, but this song ain't got no melody. It is more contemporary art than real music.
what do you know about music ? all you know is John Williams, Star Wars and Morricone ! Music is an universe and it would take a life time to travel from side to side so start by having some humble attitude on music rather than giving your fast opinion....
I quote you from your previous post: "Most New Complexity works move through a general structure." Make up your mind. Also, what do you mean "exactly?" I reiterate- tell us the types of analysis you *allegedly* used to make the laughably erroneous claims in your previous statement, and where you got a hold of the sheet music. And, it's not like Boulez's Deuxieme sonate pour piano has an "audible" structure, so it must not be music either? And, this piece has Gestaltian structure, btw.
I also must inquire as-to where you not only received the sheet music to this piece, which would be required to perform any sort of analysis (I might also defy you to name the piece, but that would be petty), but also what form of music analysis you used to determine the lack of repetition in the piece. Oh... wait... isn't one of the defining motifs of New Complexity a lack of repetition? I subsequently call into question the validity of any analysis, in this argumentative context.
This is also a false premise argument. "Most" New Complexity works, or to be more specific, works that are universally categorized as New Complexity (I only make this addendum due to the fact that many New Complexity artists do not like their work described as such), is a misnomer, due to the massively varied output of the various composers in the oeuvre, from Ferneyhough to Finnissy, from Dench to Dillon and from Barrett to Barlow. [cont]
This joke of an attempt at an argument has a false premise. Your illogic works under the presupposition that a piece of music must be able to be understood by an average audience member to be a valid form of art. Also, this is a Brutalist/New Complexity work; it is not composed using complex, academic techniques, therefore your assumptions about this piece are incorrect in the first place.
it's expiremental music buddy. it happends when people get bored of what's in... like all that music that you hear in radio and realise it sounds like something else
Doesn't matter if the final chord is C4C5C6C7. This piece has no harmony, and therefore no specific note/chord can be "tonal" in correlation to the piece. A chord can be dissonant or consonant.
