  • Zach Galifianakis and his band.

  • Its wonderful. thanks.

  • I did an iron & wine cover, if anyone would like to hear it, it's on my channel, thanks!

  • seriously Chicago plese start having good taste in music so he can come here.

  • This song, and this performance most specifically, arouses an amazing emotion from me. I feel an incredible sense of nostalgia, as though the memories reflected upon in the lyrics were my own, in spite of the fact that the similarities to happenings in my own life are fleeting and general at best. Perhaps that speaks to how vividly and concisely Sam crafted the song...I am figuratively transported into his recollections and emotions..the mark of a truly great piece of art. Keeps me coming back.

  • @Nedders - could not have said it better myself ...

  • Samuel Beam might actually be God.

  • This song took like 10 or 12 years to write

  • @JerkyRonson, you are responsible for your own expectations and reactions. Sam is just following his muse where it takes him, and I for one am happy to follow him on the ride. If you don't like the music it's more about you than it is about the artist. Remember that next time you want to criticize somebody else's self-expression.

  • gotta love iron and wine. sounds a little like Jim Croce on this song

  • Was this in a movie or TV show? I really feel like it was but I cant remember. Help?! Am I imagining this?

  • this song is lovely... it reminds me so strongly of an 80's classic song. which is on the tip of my tongue. but can't quite recall. anyone know who i mean!? its killing me....

  • The entire album is a master piece, Theres not a single song on the album that does not makes you happy and want to whistle.

  • woah, i have that capo haha. love this song, with or without the band its flawless and beautiful

  • folk version of varg vikernes

  • @Onuund That's a stretch, apart from the beard (which I think you're on about) Sam Beam isn't a murderous nazi XD

  • @ShiivaWilding I meant he looks like him, except this guy knows how to play an instrument. and isnt a pretentious dick.

  • @Onuund I know man, I just felt like making a daft comment. Varg's older, talented brother then, lol

  • beautifull song. and i really im married to a potty mouth girl.

  • kiss each other clean is one of the best albums ever made.

sam beam is one of the greatest musicians i have ever had the pleasure of listening to

and every album has been different then the one before it in some way

evolution in an artist is never a bad thing

and if they can change there sound up a bit but still hold onto who they are as an artist thats something to be proud of.

  • I'm sorry as soon as Mumford and Sons and Fleet foxes get popular a fucking tonne of these bands keep popping up. Sure they all have some artistic and musical merit, but for fucks sakes it was a fad and it's probably over now.

  • @meddeyc Mumford and Sons weren't the first. It's a genre, not a fad. We might as well call rock and roll and hip hop fads too, if we're gonna go there.

  • What you all fail to realize is that Beam is evolving, such things should be expected. I've seen 2 shows that were Kiss Each Other Clean centric and to be honest, the band seems to love to play those the most. At an I&W show I never have got the feeling of pop. It has simply evolved from a quiet powerful man to a fullfledged band. The music is much more intricate and just as haunting as ever. Try your hardest to see them live and you'll realize that the changes are good, and his shows prove it.

  • He'd been working on this song for over 10 years,

  • So beautiful. There is no other lyricist or musician like Sam Beam.

I don't think I'll ever grow tired of listening to his music.

  • Ok imma rant. I cant take this anymore. Just because a person has a beard does not mean they are Allan from The Hangover. Sam looks NOTHING like him. They have facial hair, thats it. People say that Andy Hull from Manchester Orchestra looks like him too and they look nothing alike. AHhhHHHRHHHhHH. End rant.

  • Mrs. Beam gave birth to a beard that eventually grew a Sam Beam. No, I did not say that incorrectly. It's all in the beard.

  • Oh my god it's McLovin!

  • cool beard!

  • crystal.

  • I refuse to believe this is the only video from this sesh on YouTube. That's insane.

  • is it just me or does the lead singer remind you of Allan from the Hangover lol..especially on the close-ups with the beard lol

  • @BowdownB41UServe no. allan from the hangover reminds you of sam beam. IGNORANT

  • @BowdownB41UServe i think its just you.... to me he looks more like the comedian louie ck

  • saw him last night . . . great show!!

  • @jimijimi1029... thts a mandolin

  • He sounds like James Taylor in this performance. And I mean that in a good way.

  • @TMegginson A bit yeah! I hear it now - taylor has cleaner a voice if u know what I mean tho. I'd love to see iron & wine live.. saw taylor last year

  • What I would've given to be that ukulele player.....

  • live versions of new album are better

  • Not that I don't like the new album, but it's not even close to his best work. Our Endless Numbered Days was a genius album.

  • He looks like Bonnie Prince Billy's brother. lol

  • I thought this was called Mary Ann

  • his beard is epic

  • Mandolin player's face at 2:44

  • I heard they are gonna do a Hangover 2, hopefully Zack will stop strumming to do that....this stuff is ok but it isn't as funny

  • LOVE this! I've been a fan since "Out Endless Numbered Days" and i love the direction he has taken the music.

  • This song makes me cry it is so beautiful.

  • 176 likes no DISLIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @FishMan266 don't jinx it

  • I wouldn't mind seeing Rosie Thomas actually look like a female. Almost every time I see her, I think it's a dude at first.

  • @felixramsey It's good to know you have to dress a certain way to look female.

  • @PenthesileaSaraswati It's not just the way she dresses. I think it's also something about the way she does her hair. I've seen other pictures where she looks very feminine & gorgeous. It's weird, really. Meant no offense to you personally. Don't even know you. Just saying.

  • @felixramsey I'm sorry, I do understand that you aren't meaning to be offensive, and I may have snapped a little. It's just that I studied modern gender roles, and a theme in our culture is the idea that women must "do" things beyond our expectations of what men must "do" to the way they appear to be regarded as "feminine." Like in our culture, the fact that she isn't wearing make-up, or hasn't spent a great deal of time on her hair means that our culture sees her as "unfeminine."

  • @PenthesileaSaraswati Eh, I just like women to look like women. I can't help it. I'm not trying to be a dick. And I love Rosie Thomas. She's got a beautiful voice & great songs. I just didn't she looked very feminine here.

  • I listen to his albums and wonder how it can get better.

And then I listen to his live stuff. I just answered my own question.

  • Pretty old Iron & Wine fan here and this album has definitely been a grower for me. Wasn't too keen on it at first, because it's such a departure from the lo-fi guy-with-a-guitar-in-his-bedroom stuff of his earliest records that I initially fell in love with, but it's a logical progression from The Shepherd's Dog and I'm glad he's moving forward and changing up his sound. Static artists are boring, and I'm loving more and more of his new songs. This song is great.

  • Reminds me of a classic Elton John song. Life is good.

  • I can't stop listening to this!

  • live version is much better

  • this is a fantastic version. i wish the studio version was more like this.

  • B SIDES

  • Very full everything! ! lyric, tune, peaceful mood, and isn't it nice ladies to see a man with hair?? I know there are a lot of us that are tired of bald heads! lol Off to purchase the mp3's

  • The songs will always been fantastic, however I'm not too hot on the whole band thing. Right here it sounds fantastic but when they've got the saxophone and everything else all happening at the same time it just sounds way too busy. Too many things trying to get your ears attention... thus taking your attention away from the words.

I'd love to hear these songs in a more Calexico environment over the new band environment. The new stuff isn't bad, just seems like a bigger reach then need be.

  • Die hard I&W fan here.

I am in love with this album.

I think the sound is really fun and yes, it's different.

But change is good, and I don't think it strays too far from what I&W has always been about.

I try to keep an open mind about it. It's still great music and Sam Beam knows what he's doing.

  • Yeah, it's definitely different from his old stuff. Jury is still out from where I sit as far as the entire album. There are some that I like and some that I'm not crazy about. But this one is definitely my favorite. It's got a definite flavor of his old stuff that was so great. I'll never lose faith in Sam Beam's music though.....or his beard....that beard is epic.

  • first time listeners , check out the album version of this - it's so good!!

  • love this song, gonna have to listen to the rest of the album a few more times to really appreciate them

  • I respect a man who can grow a beard like that.

  • @simonprohax It's J.E.B. Stuart!

  • I loves this acoustic version better then the original. This version, to me, is what makes Iron and Wine.

  • @seanolly Tend to agree seanolly. The Beach Boy type harmonies on the album don't seemed to suit it, when you just hear this stripped down version. This sounds like something from "Our Endless Numbered days" A great song all round

  • I'm really loving this song right now. I'm sure I'm going to be playing this over and over for awhile.

  • Rock n Roll Lullaby! sha na na na na na..... :)

  • epic beard. the end.

  • Not sure what all the fans are crying about. Sure, the music is a little more produced and polished than his older stuff, but this is classic Iron & Wine and, in my opinion, it's some of his best stuff yet. The new album sounds like it was recorded by someone who truly loves music and experimenting with the different ways he can approach it. That he so successfully pulls off a "pop" record is testament to his amazing talent. "Kiss Each Other Clean" is an instant classic in my eyes. :)

  • @LaLaLifer "Not sure what all the fans are crying about"

"the music is a little more produced..."

Thats it for me. But not with this song here.

  • @LaLaLifer I don't hate this album, but it's definitely overproduced, at least for his style. The hyper-clean style can't capture the subtlety that makes him more than pop music with folk roots. Even this version is more full than the album version, and all the songs I've heard from this album have an empty feel that he's never had before. Great songs, inadequate studio recordings, though.

  • The vocal interlude in this song (beginning at around 1:42) is very reminiscent of a similar interlude in Simon and Garfunkel's "The Only Living Boy in New York." Irregardless, this Iron and Wine song is gorgeous and sublime.

  • You Guys Are So Good!

  • SAM! YOUR HAIRLINE!!

  • i heard this song on the radio in vermont and i almost never "turn up" songs the first time I hear them... this is one great tune. congrats to iron & wine. it's catchy and universal...

  • I agree. It just not the same. I still love it but it's just different. Different isn't bad I just like his other stuff a lot better.

  • This is MUCH better than the album version. THIS actually sounds like good 'ol Iron and Wine, the album version is just... too much.

  • Sam and Rosie - awesome. And I'm sure the other two guys are nice.

  • If anyone dislikes this song I will hunt them down, find them, force them to log into youtube, make them change their dislike to like, then leave them alone.

  • @RuellaDijkstra8101 I hate you.

  • I think the dude in the middle is his sister

  • @bonek350 I think it's actually Rosie Thomas.

  • Comment removed

  • @workingmansrevival LOL! Have fun at the show. Hopefully he comes my way one of these days. I'd love to catch him live.

  • @bonek350 ooo it was such a great show! Just Sam & his guitar :) He is really THE nicest guy -just acted like another guy in the room -got to meet him :) --I would go out of my way to see him in any setting, with or w/o band ... (won't let me post link --kgsr.com go to multimedia-- music lounge --iron& wine video in archive)

  • @bonek350 His sister used to sing backing vocals for him but that was a while ago. Rosie Thomas is touring with him now...I think she shows up on the new album...ore that's me just hoping.

  • You're goddamn right the band is Iron & Wine.

  • i was there and it was AMAZING!!!!!
