Yeah, when I was a kid this scene made me sad. I just recently watched the japan version of this film and was surprised to find that the amercian version of the ending was actually more sad. The japan version doesn't have the same cry that this version has when godzilla hits the lava.
That scream always goes right through me like a knife. I can't help but get chills and start to tear up. I remember as a kid I was bawling at this and especially with that scream he let out
godzilla will never die his cells regenerate too quickly so he could never die, even from the oxygen destroyer in the first movie i mean look at mechagodzilla the bones constructed from the real godzilla took over mechgodzilla.
This is sad.. I think this scene is more sadder than when godzilla actually dies in Godzilla vs Destroyah you don't hear that at 2:18 I don't know if he was screaming his lungs out there or if he was saying "WEEEEEEE!!" because obviously he's gonna hit the lava pool and nothing is gonna happen he'd be practically swimming around in it.
damn man , you too?? i upload the whole movie and my account got trminate in 30 mins :-( 2 times , but for my hero godzilla - I NEVER QUIT - NEVER NEVER long live godzilla
@IBroLLyISePhIrOtH He didn't die in Godzilla vs Biollante those peole were saying Godzilla is trapped inside Mt. Mihara. In this movie he fall in Mt. Mihara. Do ye get what I'm saying and godzilla isn't hurt by he swam in it far gods sake
I am a very masculine man (say what you will to that) and barley cry.
This ending of an epic movie....it.....it made me tear up........
and, as a consulation, you should try the Japanese version, I find it oddly better then the dubbed one. I have a standard of only watching dubbed movies....but this one is good enough to make me watch the subbed version.
Nature has a way sometimes of reminding man of just how small he is. She occasionally throws up the terrible offspring of our prind and carelessness. To remind us of how puny we really are in the face of a tornado. an earthquake. or a Godzilla. The reckless ambitions of man are often dwarfed by their dangerous consequences. For now, Godzilla, that strangely innocent, and tragic monster, has gone to earth. Whether he returns or not or is never again seen by human eyes, the things he has taught
This is one of the most epic movie ending at least top 8 to this day. I can't think of any others at the moment besides the ending of the original Dr. Dolittle, which is probably top 5.
@sammys70 godzilla 1984 (in japan) wasnt low budget. its just the effects are really badly dated, kinda like the original king kong but to a lesser extent
Bah. Godzilla vs. Biollante is like Godzilla Raids Again.....
No shit Godzilla comes back. Toho will never let him die, but like in the 50s...already the dark and menacing tone is _lost_, already the nuclear weapons allegory is gone, already Godzilla is no longer scary--he's fighting a giant plant and psychics for fuck's sake.
Don't get me wrong, though! I love the goofy side of Godzilla, too. Gimme Smog Monster and Final Wars any day, but I personally prefer the darker, solo stuff.
@Eldeecue I always thought, for all Godzilla purists pan the inclusion of the "back in America" segments in Godzilla 1985, that they had two *excellent* things in them-- Steve Martin's line to the American commander about "I hope you succeed, but no matter what happens...Godzilla *will* live." and the "Nature has a way sometimes of reminding Man of just how small he is" moral Martin delivers at the end of the movie, just before the credits.
@Eldeecue i think Godzilla Raids Again was somewhat a little scarey, it was King Kong vs Godzilla which lost all the scare factor, but some of the "scare factor would come back in Godzilla vs Mothra, but go away
@Eldeecue agreed, a dark tone with a message is always appreciated, for example Hedora's tone was hella goof, but the message was that we made Hedora by our carelessness, the same way our carelessness made Godzilla(its better than Ferngully's humans pollute and eat animals, humans are evil)
Long story.....they discover that godzilla follows bird noises, mostly out of loneliness....and so they trick him into falling into a volcano using those same sounds.
@Airsoftman67 Well your brother was close but it was the military that killed destroyah, he tried to get away but the army & the Super X 3 use all it's fire power to take him down
Dude i know , i got all godzilla movies , but godzilla 1985 died in that one , this form of godzilla was the best forme , bad ass looking , huge canines and fangs , good lloking , i know biollante know even godzilla final wars 2003 , but godzilla 1985 died R.I.P godzilla 1985
@IBroLLyISePhIrOtH Oh, du meintest die Klage wurde nie wieder Ich dachte, Sie hätten nicht begriffen, dass diese godzilla das gleiche wie Godzilla vs biollante, sorry ist.
@IBroLLyISePhIrOtH Yes, Raymond Burr past away a couple years ago. I liked him in all the films he was in, and even here, he still tried to hold up to his performance from 1955 here. So, RIP Raymond.
babys get a load of i am fan to but it is just a movie and i also learnd a ugly truth its a man in a coustem maybey he died and they killd godzilla thumbs up if true and down if they got tired of godziila
That visual at 2:12 is what i remember the most of this movie. the last time i saw this entire movie was at least 25 years ago. I remember the music now. depressing as hell despite him living. At this point when it was made, I figured he died,
@MrBayLove408 Yes i think summer he is come in back 2 the Big Screen I cant wait N its not the 2nd part to the 1998 Movie this NEW 1 is said 2 b different then the Movie ^_^
I respect your sadness but you guys need to get a grip. Godzilla survives this and comes back in Godzilla vs. Biollante. He doesn't die till Godzilla vs. Destoroyah(yeah you sons of bitches go cry to the ending of that movie, he frickin melts but his son comes back to life to replace him).
You can see in the anti-godzilla crew eyes what they think. The same thing than Bainbridge front of the first nuclear explosion during Trinity test: "Now We Are All Sons-of-Bitches". The tragedy is the world would have had some place, somewhere, for this big lizard, but humanity hadn't time to let him live. Sad.
@IBroLLyISePhIrOtH He doesnt actually die. In the movie that follows this one, "Godzilla vs Biollante". Turns out he actually takes a 4 year nap/hibernation inside a pocket of magma in the volcano. He's released when terrorists set explosives on the volcano.
@G11354 Yes THat is true but really he was Cage in the volcano Till he Wakes up and save the planet and the reason why he save the planet is cause he wont to destroy japan himself
@Terminatorzilla This very same volcano in fact, Mt. Mihara (which is in fact a very real, and very active, volcano in Japan); it was Bio Major's bargaining chip with the Japanese government in Biollante-- hand over the Anti Nuclear Energy Bacteria to us, or we detonate bombs inside Mihara, and free Godzilla. They do end up complying, but the bombs go off anyway, and the King of the Monsters is free once more... and EXTREMELY pissed.
funny is how raymond burr mentions later that he says "Just for the record 30 years ago they never found his corpse" stating they werent sure if they killed him originally but they later find out they 15 years later they find godzilla 1954's bones out in the ocean and build it to become Kiryu or better known as Mechagodzilla . though this godzilla dies eventually he melts down in godzilla vs destroyah which could mean there are only two godzilla's left or one
@JustinThoj well your right the kiryu thing im absoulutely right though im sure of that. but then again i cant stand it sometimes how they throw this plot everywhere i mean serisouley why cant it stay on task and not go like in between timelines i mean they keep making sorta sequels to the original so they think the original was only golden glory and the others were crap or something. main thing i really want to know is where the crap did king ghidorah came from im not kidding he has no origin!
@MAXIMUMGODZILLA45 I cannot agree more!!!!!! I fucking HATED how the millenium series was all about new storyline after another after another after another. I can understand after maybe 5 or 6 films then starting off again with another 5 or 6, but one after another is ridiculous.
i am 27, an that final scream before Godzilla falls in still gets me to this day.... I remember as a kid being so depressed after that scene... It was hard to watch... Then i found ''Godzilla vs Biollante'' an was thrilled when he came out an kicked ass.
But this was truly a touching scene.
I don't know about you but i am looking forward to the ''American Reboot'' of Godzilla by Legendary Pictures in 2012 or 2013... Have you heard a lot about it?

what makes this scene so sad is the symbolic nature
godzilla was once an innocent creature, but was made a monster by the tradgedy that is the ignorance of mankind
it was man's goal to use nuclear power to create the ultimate weapon, and that weapon became godzilla
what finally defeated him in the end was not a weapon of mans creation, but a force of nature
at last he was swallowed by the earth where all life is laid to rest

This scene is proof that the cybot is far better than the suit. It should've been used in more scenes.

Thank God that scream isn't in the Japanese version.

That scream is truly haunting.

funny is how raymond burr mentions later that he says "Just for the record 30 years ago they never found his corpse" stating they werent sure if they killed him originally but they later find out they 15 years later they find godzilla 1954's bones out in the ocean and build it to become Kiryu or better known as Mechagodzilla . though this godzilla dies eventually he melts down in godzilla vs destroyah which could mean there are only two godzilla's left or one
MAXIMUMGODZILLA45 11 months ago
@MAXIMUMGODZILLA45 Those movies are of two completely different series, which means they never tied in. In both series there were only 2 godzillas.
JustinThoj 11 months ago
@JustinThoj well your right the kiryu thing im absoulutely right though im sure of that. but then again i cant stand it sometimes how they throw this plot everywhere i mean serisouley why cant it stay on task and not go like in between timelines i mean they keep making sorta sequels to the original so they think the original was only golden glory and the others were crap or something. main thing i really want to know is where the crap did king ghidorah came from im not kidding he has no origin!
MAXIMUMGODZILLA45 11 months ago
@MAXIMUMGODZILLA45 I cannot agree more!!!!!! I fucking HATED how the millenium series was all about new storyline after another after another after another. I can understand after maybe 5 or 6 films then starting off again with another 5 or 6, but one after another is ridiculous.

You know. I muted this before I even came to this clip. I love Godzilla. I'm 28 and I still can't watch the end of this movie.
rodan70 1 year ago 2
@rodan70
i am 27, an that final scream before Godzilla falls in still gets me to this day....
