Teaching that Jesus died for your sins is the most irresponsible philosophy I can imagine. Everyone should be held accountable for their own 'sins'. That is why we have laws and courts and prisons.
@nonsuchfabio You will be accountable for your sins, but not to courts (which reflect eternal justice), but to the Creator, who is Jesus Christ. He died for the sins you committed against Him. You can be forgiven of them. It doesn't mean that if you murder someone, you will get out of jail, or physical consequences. Those are still there. God set those in place as well.

By looking at stars, studying fossils, etc. we can tell the universe was here long before humans even existed. There is no holy book that provides us with all the information (backed up with evidence for convincing reasons), if it were the case we wouldn't have so many questions. BTW you can't explain the world with 1 book.

I see many quote Sweden or other western nations where the number of atheists are high, to 'prove' that atheism is good. This is a faulty reasoning. These people don't think deeply. Morality is not set in stone. It is a matter of opinion. Even if god is so undeniably moral does that give him the right to break his own rules? Don't know what I'm getting at? If so remember the 6th commandment: thou shalt not kill. Keep that thought in your head and while doing so look up 2 Kings 2:23-24 and see if your views on god's morality remain the same.

The youths were likely a large gang (at least 42) of teens up to 29 years old (from the Hebrew) who were threatening Elisha "Come on up." They were going to jump him and maybe kill him. The Bible says not to touch (threaten) the Lord's annointed. This should be a lesson for us all. The 10 Commandments were written in stone.

The punishment for it was the death sentence. Jesus said if you even look at a woman with lust, you commit adultery with her in your heart. And 1 Corinthians 6:9, 10 says no adulterer or fornicator will inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. It sounds pretty clear. What are your thoughts?

Where are you getting your info? On deeds over belief: When someone becomes a true Christian, their deeds will change. They will no longer desire to sin, but will desire to do what is right, b/c God has given them a new heart w/ new desires. Their actions should begin to follow their beliefs.

Matthew and John were both eye-witnesses, so was James, Peter and Jude. Luke spoke with many to get his facts, and both the gospel of Luke and Acts are used by archaeologists as a tool.

We have Greek transcripts, hand-written copies that date back to just a few decades after John wrote his gospel. Not millenia, less than a century. Actually, the 6th day He created man. He wasn't too tired, but rested to show as an example that we should rest on the Sabbath. Scientists believed there were about 1100 stars until the last few hundred years. Now we know that the number of stars compare to the grains of sand and you can never count that high. I'm no fan of Ray Comfort, personally I think he is a bit dim. But, if he has ever been beaten up or physically attacked because of his beliefs or even his attempts to preach in public, then that is wrong. His beliefs may not be popular with me, but he has every right to hold them and every right to publicly air them. No one is compelled to listen or agree. Physical attacks on believers or non-believers are simply unacceptable.
maybe there is a correlation between IQ and atheism. The more proud someone is of themselves, the more they make something else god, including themselves, science, pleasure, or intellect. This does not make the claims of the Bible false, but true. God bless.

Sorry, I just saw this now. On archaeology & the Bible, you can get Josh McDowell's book Evidence that Demands a verdict and More Than a Carpenter. Fossils do not come with a date on them. They are dated by the rock layer they're found in, which is based on faulty uniformitarian dating. This rock layer dating says that nothing has changed since the beginning of time in processes that lay down sediment. This is false as seen with Mt. St. Helens & local floods.

You can be forgiven of them. It doesn't mean that if you murder someone, you will get out of jail, or physical consequences. Those are still there. God set those in place as well.

By looking at stars, studying fossils, etc. we can tell the universe was here long before humans even existed. There is no holy book that provides us with all the information (backed up with evidence for convincing reasons), if it were the case we wouldn't have so many questions. BTW you can't explain the world with 1 book.

I see many quote Sweden or other western nations where the number of atheists are high, to 'prove' that atheism is good. This is a faulty reasoning. These people don't think deeply. They should understand that Sweden and other western people have been conditioned by a Christian culture prevailed there for centuries.If the swedes have any virtue it's mainly due to their past. He stated exactly the reason most people believe in a God or religion - fear. A fear of loss, fear of being alone, fear of the unknown, fear their life has no purpose other than to just be, and most of all the fear to accept what is. If you lose fear, which is not easy, you will realize there is no need for a God, and you alone are the master of your own destiny. This doesn't make your life bleak, it makes that more precious. We return to wherever we came from before we were born.

Morality is not set in stone. It is a matter of opinion. Even if god is so undeniably moral does that give him the right to break his own rules? Don't know what I'm getting at? If so remember the 6th commandment: thou shalt not kill. Keep that thought in your head and while doing so look up 2 Kings 2:23-24 and see if your views on god's morality remain the same.

The youths were likely a large gang (at least 42) of teens up to 29 years old (from the Hebrew) who were threatening Elisha "Come on up." They were going to jump him and maybe kill him. The Bible says not to touch (threaten) the Lord's annointed. This should be a lesson for us all. The 10 Commandments were written in stone.

@hitchy249. I don't think you have a clue of what you are talking about. All of the texts used to translate the Bible date back before 1100 AD, and the Dead Sea Scrolls date before 100 AD. Where are you getting your info? On deeds over belief: When someone becomes a true Christian, their deeds will change. They will no longer desire to sin, but will desire to do what is right, b/c God has given them a new heart w/ new desires. Their actions should begin to follow their beliefs.

The earliest fragment date back decades after Jesus death, written by non-eyewitness, with no signed copy and some of the text found in the actual bible aren't even on the earliest fragment found. And after that you got the born again with there new covenant story that throw out pretty much all the old testament, wich are the based of christianity...this is a total nonsens ! Better ?

Yes, that's better. But you are still mistaken. You say some of the text found in the actual bible are not in the earliest fragments. That is because they are fragments, ie pieces, books, chapters, not whole copies. I wonder if you understand how the Bible was preserved through the millinia. Matthew and John were both eye-witnesses, so was James, Peter and Jude. Luke spoke with many to get his facts, and both the gospel of Luke and Acts are used by archaeologists as a tool.

Still using your logic how can you trust a book that as been clearly modified to go with certain type of dogma. I think it was at the end of Matthew or Mark that they added 12 verse after the discovery of Jesus tomb. Verse that you can find in some copies of the gospel, and some you can't find them. And I'm only saying that what happened in the bible is complete fiction, not the city or location, they didn't invented that...well...except for the garden of eden !;) Archeologist do not rely on the bible for historical event as fact, more for geography then anything else. The exact same thing could be said about The Odyssey and the Illiade of Homer. What archelogy told us tough is how the Horus, the egyptian god, history is strangely similar to the one of Jesus Christ !

It was preserved through milennia by centuries of keeping the masses ignorant and ignoring science; there's a reason why they called it "The Enlightenment" you know, it's because we threw off the shackles of the minority of power hungry fundamentalists. My sources are Gibbons, Dawkins, Hitchens, all real people who actualy use Logic and Reason instead of Fear and Ignorance

We have Greek transcripts, hand-written copies that date back to just a few decades after John wrote his gospel. Not millenia, less than a century. Actually, the 6th day He created man. He wasn't too tired, but rested to show as an example that we should rest on the Sabbath. Perhaps the people didn't know what germs were, but they did know the commands from God to wash in running water, as opposed to doctors in the 1800's who washed their hands in still water and caused many newborns to die b/c of the spread of disease. Perhaps the people didn't know the sun was one of billions, but they did know the stars are innumerable...

Scientists believed there were about 1100 stars until the last few hundred years. Now we know that the number of stars compare to the grains of sand and you can never count that high. ...the universe is made up of invisible (to the naked eye) things (ie -atoms). Hebrews 11:3. Read the books of Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers. They understood diseases, maybe not to the extent we do today, but check out how they would keep away from things that died naturally, from things killed and torn by other beasts, from those who had leprosy or other skin lesions, etc. How do you know the universe wasn't created ~ 6000 yrs ago? Roman Catholic inquisitions and crusades are such an example and the truth is, they killed people who sought the truth to even have their own bible in their own language.

1) God created EVERY other animal BEFORE he created man. Gen1:24-28. If you read the rest of the passage you referred to you realize that Adam was given a chance to name all the animals and realize that none were suitable to be his companion. Hence, God's final and best creation, woman was made.

God created the lake of fire, he created evil, and he created Satan. And you call him a loving father. God harden Pharaohs heart just to show how great he is. Pharoah didn't turn back when he saw the pillar of fire, and he worshiped man-made gods and himself instead of the God who created all things. He put God's people into hard labor -- worse than America's slavery (which at times was very terrible). Pharoah hardened his heart first, God just sealed his decision.

I'm no fan of Ray Comfort, personally I think he is a bit dim. But, if he has ever been beaten up or physically attacked because of his beliefs or even his attempts to preach in public, then that is wrong. His beliefs may not be popular with me, but he has every right to hold them and every right to publicly air them. No one is compelled to listen or agree. Physical attacks on believers or non-believers are simply unacceptable.

And in average an atheist is also more educated and have higher IQ than any religous people!
And the least criminal societies mostly consists of atheistic populations (Sweden is a great example)

Sorry, I just saw this now. On archaeology & the Bible, you can get Josh McDowell's book Evidence that Demands a verdict and More Than a Carpenter. Fossils do not come with a date on them. They are dated by the rock layer they're found in, which is based on faulty uniformitarian dating. This rock layer dating says that nothing has changed since the beginning of time in processes that lay down sediment. This is false as seen with Mt. St. Helens & local floods.
