I am an independent voter and a retired State Employee. I am proud of the work I did, and the work of the many other good people who work for State Government do. I believe that the State income tax should be restored to the percentage it was before the Engler cuts. I also realize that political realities mean that this probably can't happen. Failing that I support a sales tax increase.
It is time to address this budget crisis. Republicans should put up or shut up and support the Governor. Either propose and defend to Michigan citizens specific detailed cuts or get with her program. We need only look at the Federal deficit and National Debt to see where mindless GOP tax cuts have gotten us. Lets support our State's future.
