Actually, Dave's ratings are UP since the first day Conan took over the Tonight Show. Les Moonves was NEVER going dump Dave to appease idiot repugs & NONE of his sponsors have pulled out.

Embassy Suites have pulled their ads due to the jokes and others have indicated they might follow. Letterman's second attempt at an apology was no more heartfelt than the first. It was directly aimed at appeasing those sponsors now on the fence. Puling Letterman's show would not be to please Repugs. it would be to replace a spent and creepy old man who's humor has been replaced with Olbermann type hate. Mocking and bullying teenagers in a sexualized manner is about vile hate, not humor.

Olbermann mocking someone about whether they have any class? Libs will never understand a parent standing up for their kids or the problem with an old, perverted man telling knocked up jokes about young girls not running for any office, whether they are 14 or 18. Letterman is making the apology for selfish reasons. His sponsors are pulling out and his show is on the verge of being canceled. Maybe CBS can get some fresh talent at the same time MSNBC flushes it's hate filled lineup.

You show a distinct inability to recognize patterns. Libs- a noun identifying someone who's views are skewed by hate for someone based on a more traditional perspective of the world than their own, usually found in isolated and inbred communities (such as MSNBC) where only one point of view is tolerated. Also recognized in people (such as Letterman) who's jokes are almost always aimed at traditional targets. I hope that helped.

Yes it is. Some people seem to justify hate on one side of the aisle if there is hate on the other side. it is getting worse all the time. We have moved from the Tim Russert era at MSNBC to the Keith Olbermann era. It is ugly and getting uglier all the time.

Actually, Bristol Palin is a face of the abstinence only movement, and quite ironically at that. As such, she's a person with a national image, and thus is a fair target for a national joke. She HAS been "knocked up." He's not pulling that out of thin air. The joke itself was poorly worded and executed, and apparently a lot of people don't understand comedy and might assume it's aimed at the unknown Willow, but that doesn't make sense for a national comedian with the experience of Letterman.

Letterman has become an angry old man who lost his comedic touch when he tried to delve into political satire. It's not his forte. If he wants to become a hate filled, one sided commentator hiding behind poorly executed jokes he should really join Olbermann and the rest of the sycophants at MSNBC. This isn't about understanding comedy any more than Imus 'nappy headed hoes' comment. Young adults should not need to hide in a closet or become fodder for mocking and bullying by dirty old men.

Good comment.  I USED to watch him in the eighties...he used to be funny. He did the dumbest, most juvenile skits with a guy by the name of Chris Elliott. They were stupid, harmless skits that were hysterical.
