or should I use compressor to transform my DV material into H264 ? or into what ? ;( (I have about 40 minutes mov material and 12 minutes DV material to put inside these 40 minutes but in many different places... I'm afraid I'm going to have probs in the end if this doesn't match although my brand new imac with 8 Go memory does not need long to render and also I'm importing from mediadrive (and not capturing) the mov files is this a problem? (I captured the DV clips, put them inside the HDseq)

Hi Andre, I have new questions... if you can help again ? In my sequence I need to put H264 files, insert DV files in these H264 clips, or maybe some other files too which are not H264. I'm not sure if I should have my settings for the sequence matching my HD material or the DV files or is there a way to match both ? if not what should I do .... ??? I'm afraid it won't work in the end if I don't set the right settings now !
ok ! thanks for your reply - so you mean I don't need to get MPEGstreamclip and use it everytime to convert the mov.files before I can use them in FCP ?
@modus737 MPEGstreamclip is a program that converts files. only use this when final cut cant read the original files from your camera. Every time you do this you will loose quality! Try my way first. If for some reason final cut wont read the files, then you use a program like MPEGstreamclip. I never do. Only when I use sertan cameras ore wierd files from the net.
seeing you in the streets of Oslo where I've been 2010 is nice ! Could u show me what i should do with my H264 clips (we filmed with CanonEOS 550 D) to get them into FCP - is Mpegstreamclip the right thing to do ? if it is, where should I get it from? and how should I do this (is it HDV or what ???? for the settings ??) - I'm also using some parts of what we filmed with DV before we got the EOS550D but for that I found out what settings I need- thank you André for you BIG help, thank you Oslo !
@modus737 Hi! Glad to help! This camera you have is great! You shoot HD with this,I belive! Frames are 1920x1080, 30/25/24fps ore 1920x1080, 20fps. This means that you shoot high defenition! 1920/1080p is the highest frame size within the high- defenition settings. This is good! now you siply go in to the video settings in final cut and set the import and the sequense settings to match. You find 1920/1080p. this way you loose less quality when importing! for best quality you export...
Salut André! funny... i need to edit a documentary movie about a theater project of the last 2 years in Austria, Berlin and OSLO !! so I'm learning to use this crazy fantastic editing program WITH YOU : you are exactly explaining what I don't understand when I need it, please don't stop !!! I have to finish in 5 weeks ! ;)

PS : I've just cut this message in 2 parts so PART 2 in the next one, I need help with H264clips
