and while im here, your 1360 rwhp TT ride you have now. first off, who puts a turbo in a muscle car? and second, gaining traction must be super easy lol what an incredible waste of money youve done there.
@volcom133 are you fuckin retarded? you know absolutely nothing about cars stop talking please. EVERYONE now puts turbos on muscle cars, secondly i have about $15,000 in suspension mods so traction issues arent even a concern.
@traystunna that straight pipe shit was taken off years ago. RIght now it has borla XR-1s dumped before the rear. I will get a video of the exhaust when it comes out of paint
JUST BECAUSE ITS LOUD DONT MEAN IT SOUNDS GOOD OR ITS FAST! THIS GENERATION NEEDS TO GET THAT FAST AND FURIOUS SHIT OUT OF THERE HEADS! THATS WHEN ALL THESE GAY RICERS HIT THE SCENE AND STARTED DOIN GAY SHIT TO CARS!
im not saying you need backpressure for say, but to have an exhaust not to big or too small in order to get the velocity you need for scavenging, the by product is a small amount of backpressure. so TOO MUCH backpressure kills power but too little prevents the most potential, you have to find the "inbetween" youre looking for
@03eaton1 Listen, rather than drag this out even further, to correct you with things I've taken the time to educate myself on, I found a better website for you. Read the "Exhaust Theory" write up done by nsxprime dot com.
@kcole939 first off i apologize, second, i was right in my argument only i was arguing the wrong terminology...after looking back at my course material and a little research i realized i was talking about 'Delta pressure' commonly mistaken for 'backpressure'. its been years since i learned this stuff so i was not accurate. YES BACKPRESSURE IS BAD, easiest way for me to define it is, anything forcing the exhaust gases backwards preventing all the expanding gases in the chamber from being removed
@kcole939 ...but you do want a 'compression wave' (or some wave not sure of terminolgy) to travel back up the primaries and bounce off the closed valve and help suck (scavenge) the next wave of exhaust gas from chamber, this is where i was talking about finding the right size exhaust to get a sufficient wave, which i was confusing with backpressure, to optimize performance...so its a difference in pressure you want (DELTA pressure) NOT BACKPRESSURE...
@03eaton1 There you go, which is commonly referred to as simply "exhaust pulses". The same reasoning behind an expansion pipe on a 2 stroke engine, to run more efficiently. No hard feelings.
@damonp613 its not a fobra jackoff, i bought the car with the cobra shit plastered all over it. It has all GT badging on it and its faster than any cobra or car you drive.
@prosurfer2222 it has no cobra shit on it jackoff, i BOUGHT the car with cobra shit on it. All the emblems are shaved off as well as the COBRA lettering being filled in. Im sure a 1219rwhp mustang would destroy anything you own.

you can run open headers for as long as you want if you can handle the sound, lol.you pass mess things up if you did something like run open manifolds or shorty headers for a long time.exhaust does have reversion and can draw cool air in and maaaybe crack a valve.any length of exhaust over that and the small amount of air drawn in is already heated enough
the fuel system was designed for back pressure so if you want your low end torque back you better find out how lean your car is running and fix it aka bigger jets or injectors
Backpressure is good on n/a cars to produce torque. On FI (Turbo/Superchargers) your statement makes sense. But without either of those, you want SOME backpressure.
@Kronis72 Wow.. You guys are still talking about this backpressure deal, as if you know something.
You don't WANT ANY backpressure. Backpressure KILLS power. What you want is an EXHAUST VELOCITY to match your powerband. Lower RPM's = smaller exhaust diameter. Higher RPM's = larger exhaust diamter. It's all about what matches your powerband, not sticking a potato in your muffler to "create torque" from the backpressure. Would you put CNC ported heads on an otherwise STOCK engine? Same deal.
@kcole939 dont agree with first part of your response....NO BACK PRESSURE = BURNING UP VALVES, ever heard of exhaust scavenging? yes, on some motors less back pressure is good when they are built to run like that, you cant run open headers on the stock 4.6, unless you wanna rebuild
@03eaton1 No, unfortunately, you are incorrect. Why do you think dirtbikes run exhaust plugs, AKA butt plugs? They have very short, straight through exhaust systems. When the engine is turned off, that very short, straight through exhaust allows cooler air to rapidly cool the valves.
You can run open headers on nearly any 4 stroke engine you'd like as long as the computer is tuned for it, or in the case of a carbed engine, it's rejetted to richen the A:F ratio back up.
@03eaton1 Are you familiar with how most cookware has a teflon coated non stick surface? Ever had your wife yell at you for dumping cold water on a frying pan, to watch the smoke? Shocks the teflon coating. Exhaust valves work the same way. Rapid cooling due to open headers can cool the exhaust valves too quickly, causing them to warp. Same idea as piston expansion, which is why you're not supposed to romp on an engine until it's up to operating temperature.
@03eaton1 So, with that said, you're welcome to your own opinion, however delusional it may be. I see you own a Termi Cobra. I wouldn't expect that type of ignorance from someone with a car of that magnitude. You need to read UUCMotorwerks' write up on backpressure myths.
Google "The truth about exhaust backpressure and torque"
It elaborates on the topic of burnt exhaust valves, low end torque, and backpressure. That way you won't be another person who thinks backpressure is good.
@kcole939 first of all, since when does the car someone drives determine their knowledge?..and why are you using dirtbikes as an example? That's not what exhaust plugs are for! You're trying to use all these elaborate theories that have no data to support. The "cool" air would be heated by the hot exhaust, head and block before it got to the valves. I agree with the water part though, but air does not cool as fast as water, huge difference.
@03eaton1 I was using that as more of a compliment towards you. People who drive a Termi Cobra usually know their shit. Do 4 stroke dirtbikes not have exhaust valves? Yes, that is what exhaust plugs are for. I used to be into motocross for a while, got out of it back in '08. Yeah, no data to support it. Right. Why don't you go Google what I told you to, and you'll see that my elaborate "theories" do have data to support them.
The hot exhaust? Do you read anything? When the engine is OFF.
@kcole939 yes i read what you said, youre telling me when you shut the bike off after running it its not gonna be hot? i know they cool off quick but the engine and head will still be warm, and youre talking about "shocking the valves" which when it cools gradually its not being shocked, rather cooling quickly. and the potato in the exhaust pipe comment, we are not talking about a blockage here are we? yes a blockage will kill velocity, the exhaust is not designed for that
@kcole939 I agree only after a turbo there should be NO BACKPRESSURE but try running a car without headers and see what happens.(I know that's exaggerated but making a point) you need some back pressure to get scavenging and velocity. Just because one person says backpressure is bad does not make it. As far as I could see it was a theory.
@03eaton1 You need backpressure to get scavenging and velocity? LOL. Sir, listen, you do not know your exhausts. Backpressure is the ENEMY of velocity. Backpressure would hold back the exhaust gasses, and HINDER it from GAINING ANY VELOCITY.
I'll tell you what, since you like backpressure, go stick a potato in your tail pipe, and see if the exhaust gasses can gain any velocity. Christ. Study up man. I'm ashamed to hear this ricer "u need backpressure" BS coming from a fellow Mustang owner.
Todays date 7/30/09....its is 9:35 in the morning and still waiting for the phone call for the guy to say, Hey your car is done. PLEAASE BE DONE TODAY I DONT WANNA WAIT ANYMORE MAN.LOL
it hurts low-end torque. which isnt a factor in high rpm top ends. Do you still have your cats on Mauradar? And if you wanted to make it loud you should get a pair of LM1's :p
So...you have "straight pipes"? You mean, no headers, no H or X pipe? Just two pipes going from the manifolds back? I'm pretty sure you actually lose horsepower that way...
i'm not sure where you're getting your info but take the cats and muffs off any car, dyno it and i'm 100% certain that you will gain HP up top and lose tq down low
it's funny how you, Mr Richard, have all this money to sink into your "700HP 383 Stroker Trans AM" but no cash to buy a video camera and back up your, so called, 1989 Pontiac
Straight pipes huh shoulda kept the cats would of sounded better

i heard when you run staright pipes it wears out your top end and you get less torque is that true ?
bujeya27 3 years ago 2
it hurts low-end torque. which isnt a factor in high rpm top ends. Do you still have your cats on Mauradar? And if you wanted to make it loud you should get a pair of LM1's :p

LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES!
fomocowboy 3 years ago 8
actaully i hit a pedestrian, because she jumped infront of my car, and all it had on it were exhaust manifolds.
fordracin02 3 years ago
you should get the whole borla exhaust
mickster026 3 years ago 3

I like your stop :)
lickMYgonch 3 years ago 3
So...you have "straight pipes"? You mean, no headers, no H or X pipe? Just two pipes going from the manifolds back? I'm pretty sure you actually lose horsepower that way...
FixFalcon 3 years ago
no i have a x pipe going all the way into a pipe going out the back. And you dont lose horsepower, you gain hp on top end but lose low end torque
marauderrt10 3 years ago
you are an absolute moron.
theinneruniverse 3 years ago 4
marauderrt10 is right, universe and falcon are wrong...
GO302 3 years ago
nah. that was a good statement. I stand by it.
theinneruniverse 3 years ago
i'm not sure where you're getting your info but take the cats and muffs off any car, dyno it and i'm 100% certain that you will gain HP up top and lose tq down low
GO302 3 years ago
go302 you need to rewind. marauder and I are both listed as replies to fixfalcon, hence, why I said he (fixfalcon) is a moron.
theinneruniverse 3 years ago
oh i had thought u had said someting about losing hp too, my apologies then
GO302 3 years ago

1989 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 with a supercharged 383 stroker with a 700r4 transmission with a shift kit. Dyno'ed at over 700hp my friend.
TheMrRichard 4 years ago
it's funny how you, Mr Richard, have all this money to sink into your "700HP 383 Stroker Trans AM" but no cash to buy a video camera and back up your, so called, 1989 Pontiac
