  • That's a very cool video. Thanks for uploading this.

  • Wot thaa???

  • his signature thumb pickin, on a Les Paul no doubt, groovy johnny!

  • Great video! Great playing! That is a 1968 Les Paul! I've had two. I'm rereading "Raisin' Cain" right now, Johnny's biography! Its a great read, especially the early years. It amazes me to find out how much live playing he did since 15 years old, Roy Buchanan began just a little earlier and played all the time also, well before, Mike B. and Duane.

  • Thank you.

  • Yup well Johnny Rivers is cool in his own way too, puts on a great show and he is a excellent writer and producer.

  • i just saw it. did johnny winter actually play that? ed is nextdoor. Did i just see that. and 1953 gibson les paul/:? did i just see that? did i just here there greatest guitar player in the history of man?

  • For sure a P90 equipped Les Paul!! I NEVER saw him play a Les Paul before! this is great and thanks for posting this!! JOHNNY>>> PURE GENIUS!!!!!!

  • @sixaxle Yeah Thats awesome!. I have a guitar with the P-90 and is a very bluesy tone but here with Johnny on the guitar it's... amazing. And of course... I NEVER saw something like this before...

  • @teden20 F'n'A my brotha !!!

  • fucking hysterical. and a total bogue trip. i mean, if it were me, to see Johnny Winter versus ANYBODY.... ok, johnny rivers. that is not bad. 3who do you like that fucking easy scale Jew from new york, of Johnny Rivers. Its a clear call. that's right mutherfucker I am from Brooklyn... so FUXK YOU.

  • F'nnn awesome...he's playing a Goldtop.

  • has there ever been an act like this.ok the allmans.. ,the vaughans a decent third..but when you realize how much the sax man here can do..and would in the next 36 mos after this, whoa.

  • SAY THE TWO OF THEM IN 69 IN POPE JOHN HIGH SCHOOL IN SPARATA NJ FOR FIVE BUCKS HAVE SEEN JOHNNY 15 TIME OVER THE YEARS THE GREATS OF ALL TIME STILL

  • This song was on the Second Winter LP listed as Fast Life Rider

  • The Winter Brothers !!

  • Johnny makes it look so effortless and easy.

  • The bass player is Tommy Shannon who went on to play with Stevie Ray Vaughn. On drums is the late Uncle John "red" Turner.

  • Thats sorta like pulling a chicks pants down for the 1st time and the wrong thing pops out. OUCH! J Rivers aint bad but he's no Johnny Winter....

  • man they were young, hot song

  • This song is called "Fast Life Rider" from Second Winter.

  • the Johnny Rivers punchline, brilliant!

  • Great, Legends

  • Holy crap! Awesome!

Happens every day in Denmark, apparently.

  • Is that a 1953 or 1954 Gibson goldtop Les Paul? It definitely is not a '52. I have one, and this one is different. For the record, there was to Standard, Custom, or Studio designation at the time. Just a Les Paul.

  • When I was 16, my older brother tells me that a guy he works with tells him that Johnny Winter is playing over at the Holiday Star theater about 1 1/2 hours away, and that if I have never seen him, I should. So he tells me he'll pick me up after work. So my brother picks me up and we hit the road, and he's telling me about Johnny and the blues and Edgar, and we finally get there, park the car and go to the ticket box and find out That it's Johnny Rivers, not Johnny Winter.

  • @1pick2sticks Ohhh Noooooo...hahaha, funny man!

  • @1pick2sticks - Classic tale... So, after driving for 1.5 hours did you stay?

  • @boulderjames

No, my brother though he was too cool for Jerry Lee, and he wanted to leave. I really wanted to stay. It was such a small theater that I remember us getting up and walking to the exit and Jerry Lee is giving me a look like "What's wrong", and I remember throwing my hands in the air like "I don't know what's wrong with this cat."

  • @1pick2sticks - Johnny Rivers or Jerry Lee? Either way I think I'm with ya about staying... esp after driving that long. Each one has some creed in their own right... and if you it was Jerry Lee, can imagine it might have been a nasty look as I am sure no one walks out on the killer...

  • @1pick2sticks I know that sucked!! even though J.Rivers was good

  • @papajohnportwood Yeah, I would have been bummed - but I've seen them both and Johnny River had some credentials too!

  • @1pick2sticks dude at least johnny rivers is cool(not as cool as winter)

  • @1pick2sticks

    When was this?

  • @1pick2sticks FUck, all that hyping up on the way, I bet your bro was more disappointed because he already has seen a show and knows what they are like.

Did you ever get to see him?

  • @1pick2sticks - I once went to see Johnny Rivers and it turned out to be Joan Rivers. She wasn't bad, but she never sang "Secret Agent Man".

  • @1pick2sticks Hahaha so Sad

  • @1pick2sticks hahahah

  • i would drive across the united states to see these boys play together before i would walk across the street to see the beatles

  • @philsreliable

That's great comparing the Beatles to the Winters.

Of course you could travel "across the universe" and you would never see the Beatles play much less walking across the street.

And someone else would travel across the united states to see Taylor Swift before walking across the street to see the Beatles and the Winters.

    Which proves? Nothing.

  • wahahah awesome!

  • what a douchebag audience.

  • Johnny playing a Goldtop!!! Thanks for posting this historic footage TexanOBlues!
