A less expensive way to stop the yacht i s to ease the sheet and point the yacht towards the wind. You can also use your feet wiht spike shoes on, and on Class III-yachts there is also a brake like a parking brake that you can use at the end of the stopping. But the main thing is to point towards the wind and ease your sheet, otherwise it won´t stop unless you break your mast:-)
