Just one tip though - your first reference point would only work on small - medium sized cars. If you used this method when parking behind a transit van you would clip the back of the van. To avoid this use the point where you can see the back of the object vehicle in the rear left window.
Next time don't use 500m to parallel park. What if you had a car behind and you had to squeeze between them...
