I think there are many men who can't pay their child support. Child support is way out of control and hurts the majority of men. I pay child support for my one son, but my ex wife is a Doctor making over $150,000.00. I know men who pay and it only leaves them with $60.00 a week to live on? I don't have a good answer, but I know most men are being screwed by the courts.

My b/f was managing a Saturn store. He is paying $2500/mo in CS for his 2 boys. When Saturn got cut he lost his job and took a job making 1/2 just to get by until he could find something making more. In TX you have to have a significant change of income for 6 mos to get a reduction. Good news we had savings, which is now depleted. In month 6, We were faced w/o the money to get a lawyer to get the reduction, then he found out he got a job paying what he was getting before.
Not new. A friend it happened to 12 years ago got so down he tried to kill himself and became disabled, without help, homeless. Women in the same boat, paying spousal support so high they cant feed their children. People used to work it out between them. Sure, sometimes things went badly, but not as often as today. How we do things causes heartache for parents & children. The lawyers get fat and we have a big bureaucracy. WE NEED THE GOVERNMENT TO GET OUT OF OUR BUSINESS AND FAMILIES!
i think the support system should be pro-rated to what an individual makes, if he's working. if not, leave him alone unless he has the assets. and how they can get away with collecting back support after the child turns 18 is an outrage. so now if a woman is unfaithful, kicks you out, etc, hey it dont matter, its your kid, just pay, so she can smoke marlboros and spend on things other than for the child and maybe even turn the kid against you so he dont wanna know you

I worked in child support a couple years ago and people have always used the excuse that they can't find a job. My question was always "doesn't your child still need to eat and be clothed"? 4. If a person is sent to jail , obviously he will be unable to find a job and send money to the ex, and it costs the STATE , MONEY to keep him in jail as well and its not cheap either.

And how do they pay for a lawyer if they don't have a job? If they can't pay child support, the attorney is out of the questions. See the irony?
1. State appointed attorneys may or may not be good , but you WILL have legal representation if you cannot afford it. That was something you implied you did not know.
2. If your case is solid, even a sub-par state appointed attorney will be adequate.
Point is, you try to make it sound so easy when in reality for the little guy or the poor person, it is not. Even if they get a court appointed attorney, most don't give a damn or would rather be somewhere else making real money. The system needs to be changed so NO lawyer is required or needed. That would be a miracle in this country though.

My personal situation: I didn't know my dad until I was 12. My mom lied, said he wanted nothing to do with us, when that was all he wanted. She made his life so miserable, he could barely talk himself out of suicide--let alone try and be there for me. What a mom, eh? Just remember that in life, nothing is ever black and white.
Hey Demcad, My niece's Dad had to go to jail on a work release program for 6 months over the summer because he didn't pay child support on my niece and a few other kids he created. In my opinion he deserved to go to jail. This isn't the first time either. I also know women who get pregnant to collect child support too, there just as bad. Thank You my facebook friend.

if you make about twice that much, u make maybe 25% more after taxes than someone making 8, so if the child support was half u'r take home pay, then you would save money in that case.

In Arizona, regardless if you have a job, they base what you owe in child support on how much you can potentially earn, minimally the minimum wage. The only 2 exceptions are that you're 100% disabled, or in jail. If the child is collecting foodstamps, the state goes after the deadbeat parent with a passion.
My brother is paying back child support for a time when he had his kids and his ex wife scammed the government in Las Vegas. They had taken his license and garnished his wages when he worked where he wasn't able to pay rent and his utilities or even the basic cost of living. He ended up moving in with our mother and lost his job because we live in a rural area and there are not taxi's or buses to hop on to get to work.
For those that don't know in some states there is a law called the dead beat dad law. If you fail to pay child support they take your drivers license away and it can even result ultimately in imprisonment for up to 5 years.
I have a friend whose ex husband is a deadbeat freeloading scumbag. She never put him in jail I know she suffered doing it on her own. But the ex had a kid with another woman and that woman was not so nice....he ended up in jail
My friend can not pay child support he has to look for work at 20 places a week. The child support is piling up and his drivers license is going to be taken. They took his vehicle and sold it and he has no vehicle to get back an forth to work if he finds a job.

My b/f was managing a Saturn store. He is paying $2500/mo in CS for his 2 boys. When Saturn got cut he lost his job and took a job making 1/2 just to get by until he could find something making more. In TX you have to have a significant change of income for 6 mos to get a reduction. Good news we had savings, which is now depleted. In month 6, We were faced w/o the money to get a lawyer to get the reduction, then he found out he got a job paying what he was getting before.

Not new. A friend it happened to 12 years ago got so down he tried to kill himself and became disabled, without help, homeless. Women in the same boat, paying spousal support so high they cant feed their children. People used to work it out between them. Sure, sometimes things went badly, but not as often as today. How we do things causes heartache for parents & children. The lawyers get fat and we have a big bureaucracy. WE NEED THE GOVERNMENT TO GET OUT OF OUR BUSINESS AND FAMILIES!

i think the support system should be pro-rated to what an individual makes, if he's working. if not, leave him alone unless he has the assets. and how they can get away with collecting back support after the child turns 18 is an outrage. so now if a woman is unfaithful, kicks you out, etc, hey it dont matter, its your kid, just pay, so she can smoke marlboros and spend on things other than for the child and maybe even turn the kid against you so he dont wanna know you

I worked in child support a couple years ago and people have always used the excuse that they can't find a job. My question was always "doesn't your child still need to eat and be clothed"? I think those excuses are a little more valid these days, but still. I cannot be more clear, if you don't want kids and/or can't afford them, then use protection!!!

We have to stop the fiction of "child support."It's the Seneca Falls program, allowing women to leave their husbands, destroy their marriage, and still be supported.A man does have an obligation to support his children, and his obligation is equal to that of the mother. Both parents have equal responsibility to support his or her child. Does that mean that one parent should ever have to pay the other? You provide some clothing and necessities for the child. 1. If someone hasn't paid child support for over 3 months, they will have their license revoked.
2. If someone hasn't paid for longer than that, they can go to jail.
3. If someone has a legitimate case and isnt full of shit and can prove that the reason why he isnt working or is working less, is something out of his hands, he can get a lawyer and go to supreme court to modify his divorce agreement (if there is one) and atleast he will have a shot. Its never easy to modify though. Continued....

5. Sometimes no matter what you prove, you will still be ordered to pay child support because the system is in dire need of reform and because usually the one with the kids NEVER is wrong according to these twisted judges.

Just because it is something that happens fairly commonly doesn't make it the norm. While I agree there are deadbead dads out there, I also know there are many factors. My personal situation: I didn't know my dad until I was 12. My mom lied, said he wanted nothing to do with us, when that was all he wanted. She made his life so miserable, he could barely talk himself out of suicide--let alone try and be there for me. What a mom, eh? Just remember that in life, nothing is ever black and white.

Hey Demcad, My niece's Dad had to go to jail on a work release program for 6 months over the summer because he didn't pay child support on my niece and a few other kids he created. In my opinion he deserved to go to jail. This isn't the first time either. I also know women who get pregnant to collect child support too, there just as bad. Thank You my facebook friend.

my little sister's (who is 23) dad only had to pay $35 a week and he made $80,000 a year and he rarely made payments and never got in trouble. my mom paid the insurance and all living expenses he didn't even get her on weekends. i think it's up to the judge in the case and how far the woman wants to take it. my mom was just glad he was gone.

if you make about twice that much, u make maybe 25% more after taxes than someone making 8, so if the child support was half u'r take home pay, then you would save money in that case.

Posting men/women on bill boards or puting them in prison because they are unable to pay child support, sounds like job justification. There is big money in prisons as manyt of them are run by contractors. Nothing is done for free someone is getting paid.

I paid mine religiously every two weeks for years. Child support stopped for me for my two boys who are now young men 12/07. Thank God becuase I would be a dead beat Dad now. In other words I would not be able to pay!

In Arizona, regardless if you have a job, they base what you owe in child support on how much you can potentially earn, minimally the minimum wage. The only 2 exceptions are that you're 100% disabled, or in jail. If the child is collecting foodstamps, the state goes after the deadbeat parent with a passion.

My brother is paying back child support for a time when he had his kids and his ex wife scammed the government in Las Vegas. They had taken his license and garnished his wages when he worked where he wasn't able to pay rent and his utilities or even the basic cost of living. He ended up moving in with our mother and lost his job because we live in a rural area and there are not taxi's or buses to hop on to get to work.

For those that don't know in some states there is a law called the dead beat dad law. If you fail to pay child support they take your drivers license away and it can even result ultimately in imprisonment for up to 5 years.

I have a friend whose ex husband is a deadbeat freeloading scumbag. She never put him in jail I know she suffered doing it on her own. But the ex had a kid with another woman and that woman was not so nice....he ended up in jail

My friend can not pay child support he has to look for work at 20 places a week. The child support is piling up and his drivers license is going to be taken. They took his vehicle and sold it and he has no vehicle to get back an forth to work if he finds a job.

Hi Reginald, I'm paying 600 dollars child support for my youngest daughter. if push came to shove I would live in the street to pay for her upbringing. I have no regrets, all three of my ex wives were good little house keepers, every time they got divorced they liked to keep the house. I'm currently looking for another old lady,but must warn my future mate that I'm fresh out of houses!!!

I have a file well over 12" high regarding this issue,,,,,Question is,,, has the county EVER,,EVER,,,EVER help me,, a man enforce MY rights as a father,,,, take a guess? I think we all know that answer,,, this file is also no less than 12" high,, and it took no less than 2 years to for the court to find my "x" in comtempt.

Child support is one othe biggest lies ever deviesed,,, My support is MORE than my mortage,, 1K+ for two boys, The county in which I live in will spare no expenses going after me, funny how my X has over eight years of collage, and me with a high school dep, is supposed to earn 2 times her salery, times have changed, men are Fvcked, as far as I am concerned the SYSTEM makes the "man" be a dead beat,,,seem's like the county would be happy only if I am living in a VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER!!!

Yes I do know someone who can't afford child support, because of the greedy bitch mother asked way beyond what he was paying, like $250 up to $700 a month along with a good lawyer and got it. He pays but sometimes can't make rent, so it's touch & go.

No, the few I knew paid child support. I also know women who had to pay alimony to their ex-husbands, and they did that. Right now, I have no stories.
