  • Federer is the only player that could convince me that there is grace and beauty in tennis. I don't even know how many slams he won, because that matters little to me; what really matters is style, which is the element that seduces Foster Wallace, who happens to be a writer, not a tennis commentator. Because no player will be able to imitate such a style, Federer is unique, and probably the greatest sportsman ever.

  • Roger's too good that Wikipedia had to make a separate page for his achievements :)) Love it.

  • Finally saw Federer play live 'on the sacred grass of Wimbledon' this year.

It was a pity that it was the Tsonga match which he lost, but it was still one of the greatest experiences of my life that I will never ever forget.

  • I like how others have attempted to remake this video using more recent clips, but still nothing compares to it.

  • This is still the best Federer video ever

  • It is that time of the year again when the sacred grass of Wimbledon is lush green and neatly trimmed and watching this tribute is like going on an annual pilgrimage.

  • The most graceful sportsman I have seen.

  • what is there do dislike about this?

  • What is the first song called?

  • @JordanWood00 Lol "Pachelbel's Canon" by Johann Pachelbel, one of the most well known classical pieces of all time.

  • Does anyone know the match that the dialogue from 0:03 to 0:21 is from? And the name of the commentator? He sounds familiar but I can never remember his name.

Thanks :) INCREDIBLE video! Makes me wish I'd been old enough, wise enough, and more importantly, actually able to watch Federer play when he burst onto the scene. It must have been magical to see it begin.

  • @h00dman Dick Enberg. He does (American) football too I think. As for the match, it could be any Wimbledon match before the current hairstyle.

  • The backhand at 1:52 is quite possibly my favorite ever.

  • @darthnozo 3:19 on clay, on defense and the loudest "OHHHH". lol

  • Best Roger Federer video on youtube!! Never get tired of this video, so beautiful and so graceful..It's Roger Federer.

  • Andy Roddick watched this video 18 times.

  • will i grow taller if i play tennis regularly ?

  • Few people in this world do ANYTHING as well as Roger Federer plays tennis. His balance, grace, composure, and efficiency are unmatched. He never seems to be rushed in his movements. I'm looking forward to the next 10 years when a whole crop of kids who grew up watching Federer play will turn pro. I want to see the Federer effect last for a very long time!

  • @zebster18 The Federer Effect will be tremendous, widespread and very deep. He's going to influence 20 years of tennis to come.

  • Analysts and other great players were talking about Federer possibly being the greatest player of all time way back in just 2004. It wasn't the stats, but the way he plays. As so many people in the video say, it's indescribable. Watching him play tennis isn't just that, it's an experience. His matches are the tennis equivalent of going to church. You can't like tennis and not like watching Roger play when he's at his peak.

  • I'm sure Roger has seen this video!

  • fed is magnificent, worried that nadal might reach or break the record, but fed's already a god

  • @7quitenice

yes. But I don't think he (Nadal) will reach.

  • I don't care about Nadal, nobody ever played tennis like THIS before and never will.

  • 18 people view Roger Federer as a secular experience.

  • he is the meastro

Nadal and his muscles and boring game can go and fuck himself

  • @Mirren81 Yup!!!! Il Maestro is the best ever...

  • What Federer does on the court is indescribable. Il Maestro.

  • LOL at "OMG! Don't start this so early Roger" :D

tHAT'S WAY he is the KING!!!

  • Search "Hitler upset with Federer Nadal" on youtube. It's funny lol!

  • I'm just thankful to have the chance to witness such a masterpiece live, I almost feel sorry for the future generations, there will be other great players, but there won't be others Roger Federer!

  • Best Roger Federer video on Youtube, without doubt, most classic never get tired of this. just pure awsome. It's simply Roger Federer

  • @RFmeastro I totally agree with you my friend ! :D

  • this is better than porn

  • @fbinsulation

    haha yeah man ;)

  • @fbinsulation gawd i was just thinking this is orgasmic !

  • sickest player ever, great great vid

  • It's Roger's world...we just live here.

  • I wish I knew where the video with Blake talking about Federer sending him flowers when he was injured was...

  • @Ashitakaandsan type the youtube url and add "watch?v=aGduXBdSdTo&feature=related" after the"/"

  • 1:52 = Most beautiful backhand ever.

  • that reaction at 3:20 says it all

  • the perfect song for mr federer. canon in d is a beautiful piece and roger federer's game is the most beautiful game tennis has ever seen.

  • The most complete player to ever play the game. Does (did?) do everything extremely well. Even before he broke the slam record, there was little doubt that he was the most talented player to ever swing a racket. No matter where you go from here Roger, you're amazing.

  • fucking idiots that are saying that federer is just as good as he used to and its simply the other guys that are now better and not afraid of him, they just need to watch federer from 2004-2006 and then tell me that he's playing now the way he was playing back then. back in the day you just play anything shorter than a ball landing on the baseline and he would just crush the air out of the ball and place it in either corner

  • @mitroveca It's quite obviously Federer getting worse. From a probability point of view, one player getting worse is more likely than lots of players getting better. Also add to that, Federer is now losing to players he used to beat regularly, not just "new up and coming players".

  • @MrRippy99 Who cares. The point is at his peak 2004-2007 he played a brand of tennis that no one had ever seen before. I'll not believe anyone else can replicate it, until it actually happens. Maybe Gulbis is a candidate if he can get his head on straight.

  • @manco82 Yes...i think 2004-07 was the key area...i think his illness at the start of 2008 (remember at the end of 2007 he had beaten nadal 5 out of his last 7 meetings)....he was hit by illness at that stage....i still think he has 2-4 slams in him.....every slam he wins now will make it harder for Nadal to overtake and I think with Del Porto about we shall see what Nadal can do......

  • I can never get tired of this video.

  • We're so lucky to see someone like Fed play!

  • His play has so much poetry in it.

Your video ha so much poetry in it.

  • ROGER IS A SEXY TENNIS PLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Literally get goosebumps every time i watch this

  • I'm crying while I was watching this video. What more if he decides to retire? That would be my most dreaded moment. Roger Federer, the greatest ever.

  • Legend already!

  • "...a fellow simply bows in Federer's direction, as if applause is an unsatisfactory response...", I stay with this, it's simply an absolut truth,

It's so funny to see so many videos of Roger on youtube with the legend beneath them saying "no description available", and I'm thinking, couln't be more truth.

  • wow this is ...... I don't know what to say

    can't stop watching

  • "you stand up and applaud what can you do?" yeah. words just won't suffice anymore. This video Never fails to give me goosebumps eventhough i've seen it for like the 71873092749704th time already!

  • best video i've seen in a while.. thank u

  • This video, is incredible.......this is like my 6th or 7th time watching it......just as good every time.

  • this is a masterpiece

  • i still like nadal more but federer is to good to play anymore

  • im lucky im alive in this era to see federer play

  • Every so often I'll be watching a Federer do his thing on TV and I'll think to myself:

"Wow... how lucky am I to be a tennis fan during career."

  • @yoootooobeee Years and years from now, possibly to our children and grandchildren, we will talk about Federer as the greatest we have ever seen. And there will be some new hotshot who they will think will rival Federer. In my opinion there may come a time where someone more talented comes along. but there will never be anyone who will play the game like he floating on air

  • it would be awesome if this could be re uploaded in a higher quality, being the best fed tribute on youtube

  • i want federer to watch this

  • Nice vid. Nice quotes too.

  • aacant seem to find a man who ill treat me like a princess

  • what song is it? is nice, thanks

  • It's Pachelbel's "Kanon in D".

  • I have watched quite alot of youtuber's version of Roger Federer. This is my fav. Brilliant work!

  • what song is it ? is nice, thanks

  • He's made it again. He's beyond description. Luck we are here now and can watch him live and in person, and witness it. Just like the guy in this video says.

  • @SteMante78 - I agree, Federer has transcended description. It's like an unwritten language.

  • Genius. Roger Federer is a genius. That's all.

  • his best forehand was the 2004 nd 05 season i remember watching him back then nd thinking this man has talent that is god like especially US open 04 his forehands against hewit were ridiculously impossible but his best back hand performance came in 07 when he batted against gonzalez that back hand match point winner he gt was amazing

  • 3:21-3:25 and 3:34-3:39

when did he do that shots?

  • that forehand and that backhand are the best shots i have ever seen in my life

  • @Petsmar02

    word up

  • dickheads 8===O

  • Watched so many time, still love it!!!

  • Love it!!! 5 star

  • The most beautiful technique in the history of the game. Poetry in motion. The forehand being the greatest shot in the history.

  • I like this video

  • great video ;)

  • He has the most beautifuls techniques of all times!

  • Beautiful...

  • What match was that at 3:06-3:14 (Wimbledon 200?)

  • Watching this never gets old. Words really can't express how beautifully Roger plays tennis.

  • Humbling his opponents.

  • He truly is the son of God!!!

  • Tennis God

  • execution and production yes video quality not so much

  • Eres el mejor, Roger, cést comme ça!

  • amazing

  • Thanks for the slow motions at the biginning. We can analyse his pure forehand.

This guy is not only an artist with his hands. He is also a great athlete who moves his body perfectly.

  • hes forehand has changed slightly

  • The greatest tennis player of all time, Just that...

  • not only tennis player but athlete aswell

  • the greatest sportsman of all time!!!!!!!!

He is the god of tennis!!!!

  • Is this a Mozart symphony?

  • It is Pachelbel's Canon in D

  • Canon in D

  • goosebumps

  • That backhand where he's on his backfoot and uses JUST wrist (on a grass court I think) and whips it down the line is just.....sick.

  • When you see him play, it's not even conceivable to hold the idea he's not the most perfect player to have ever graced the court of his presence.

We can argue on many things, but this man is simply over anything else; he is clearly outmatched in sport history.

Roger Federer is an exceptional player and being able to speak of him as being so great so early is a testimony of what the Swiss Maestro can do.

    15 and still going.

  • +1

I agree with everything you said.

  • WICKED.

  • When I look Roger to play,I think : I'm dreaming

  • Do you think it would be possible for you to see if you can get it at a higher quality. It is an amazing video and would be amazing in good quality!

  • The original maker of the video was a guy called federermagic who also had a site breaking down parts of Federer's game (things like shot combinations and contra-tennis). I think he's putting something else up: follow the vimeo link to check out what he has so far.

  • I agree. This video itself is already amazing. Higher quality = win win.

  • This is how god plays tennis.

  • RF=GODS GIFT TO THE WORLD

  • is better that watch sex :p

  • Federer IS GOD!!!!

  • Best Federer vid in YouTube.

    This is simply beautiful.

Any Federer fan will be moved - Cant describe it because it is indescribable!

  • this video almost makes me cry every time i see it.. thanx to the author and thanx God Roger exists :-)

  • 2:46 DAYUUUMMMMMM what a damn good return!

  • amo y señor del tenis, roger lo creo y nadie podra superarlo

  • I do believe Federer can go for 20 slams.

He's still young and still has the best tennis skills in the entire world.

  • is it possible to convert this video into hd or for the owner to make it again in really high quality....

this is the best video in the history of youtube.. it needs to be in great quality?

  • yup, Federer is like the messiah of Tennis, the Jesus of Tennis. If God was to walk among us, Federer would be his human form. And yes I too do believe more in Federer than in God (quoting Obelisk1990). I bet he can make 20 slams. Easily. This video is the best ever, my 2nd best would be ATP's 15 slam tribute. Thank you, dastacomantwo

  • great vid!! too bad the quality isnt better, but amazing nonetheless

  • Nothing anyone can say now. 15 slams and at least one of each.

    Checkmate.

  • And his 16th in a couple of months. Trust me.

  • He'll get his 16th at the US Open

  • 3 times a day, i stop what i'm doing and pray in the direction of Federer.

  • fediii !

  • I believe more in Federer than in God.

  • fed is god

  • Yeah me too. Because Federer actually exists.

  • Best Federer-Video i have ever seen!

  • wonderful vid

  • wat an epic match 16-14 final set fed wins

  • I have to agree with nobbleyoursenses - the best Federer video I've seen. It's great to hear all the commentators, and nice choice of Pachelbel's Canon too :-) Bring on No. 15 tomorrow!

  • This is the best Federer video I have ever seen.

  • no, but he is the greatest.

  • Yes he is God.

  • The Maestro!

  • federer was probably playing tennis b4 he even came out he is just pure class his talent rains down evrytime he plays

  • God, I love Roger Federer, thank you so much for giving us such a genius.

  • I feel so lucky I've been able to witness this greatness, thx Roger

  • This video is 2 years old too!! I think a new one is due in HD! There's so much more material to work with now!

  • Federer has not to proof anything anymore. i love his game. wimbledo, look out for the fedexpress : )))

  • The greatest athelete of all times...

  • As you say man.....a Religious Experience

  • great video but poor quality, i wont watch it once again, i dont wanna destroy my eyes

  • "no way" "oh come on" "why not" lol

  • Comment removed

  • we really are in a time of such incredible sports stars like Roger Federer and Nadal two great athletes that should never be baged but do

  • just swissness

  • Now that hes won in Paris, I think it just more solidifies his place in history as the greatest player that played the game, in my opinion, Sampras said. Im a huge Laver fan, and he had a few years in there where he didnt have an opportunity to win majors. But you cant compare the eras. And in this era, the competition is much more fierce than Rods."

  • Federer needs to beat Nadal in coming matches to truly being claimed greatest ever player. Fans give up statistics to emotions.

The fact that he lost to nadal in all the recent grandslam finals undo all the praises that I read here and elsewhere,

federer needs to overcome his mental

softness when playing nadal, also given that he has to face the age issue when he will turn 28 soon while most of his top opponents are below 25, since body cells work according to how much time lapsed.

  • The statistics speak for themselves. Just check out the numerous records he holds on Wikipedia. Its nothing to do with people letting their emotions get the better of statistics.

  • ya but nadal will be out by 26 if he makes it that far with the way he destroys his knees to play

  • and ankles!!

  • He beat him in Madrid by adjusting his game so you're clearly talking out of your asshole.

  • To be the greatest player ever doesn't necessarily mean you need a positive head to head track record with every competitor. It's about achievements.

P.S. How can Nadal be called king of clay when he can lose a match on clay and get bagelled on the last set? (Hamburg 07)

  • At least Nadal won a set in that match...

  • yeah that's one match. you need to consider how much nadal has achieved throughout his career on clay. his career record on clay is 179-16, with 25 titles.

I mean even roger would say that's pretty impressive. we can't be too subjective as sports fans..can't just always say the player you like is better than the player across the net..

but I do agree with you. it doesn't need a positive haed-to-head records against you main rival(s). Roger is, indeed, the greatest of all time.

  • also, the 81 match winning streak. I mean that's something.

  • oh man look at the angle of his inside out forehand at 1:27. I think that's his best shot in the repertoire, that and his drop shots.

  • The King will be back!

  • the great roger federer beautiful tennis

  • It's funny how the American press TOTALLY underappreciate Fed. I guess tennis isn't a cool enough sport to talk seriously about. Everytime I turn on ESPN it's some stupid baseball debate...what a shame; this guy could possibly be the GREATEST ATHLETE OF ALL TIME.

  • Are you listening to the AMERICAN commentators on this video? That's John McEnroe, Patrick McEnroe, Mary Carillo, Dick Enberg exhausting their vocabulary to describe Federer's brilliance. All the American commentators and past American champs like Agassi and Sampras are all over Federer's balls and rightly so. The lack of coverage has more to do with the lack of regard for tennis, not under appreciating Fed.

  • I wasn't talking about tennis commentators. I meant the mainstream sports media. But in a sense you're right, nobody gives a shit about tennis in this country. I read somewhere that it's the 14th most popular sport here...what a joke

  • "American commentators and past American champs like Agassi and Sampras are all over Federer's balls"

    :D
