how to set up a gerbil home/ habitat

I decided to get another storage bin and i am going to connect the two with a tube so it should look pretty cool, thanks for your help!

How did you attach the water bottle to the bin?

@Guineapiglover0 i used a water bottle from the crittertrail line.it has a whole at the top,so i used a peice of string and you can either binder clip or duct tape it lose string ti the side at a height they can reach

i cant use certain beedings because of my algreis so i use a special aspen and also i would never use scented bedding

@TheRocky890 oh well im sorry.im not very allergic to any thing except my guinea pig and rabbits timothy hay.and cool i dint know they made speciallized beddings.i dont use scented bedding either.its not good for the animals respetoriry systems

The only plastic you should have in a enclosure is the wheel, the rest WILL be chewed eventually that can kill them.

You need AT LEAST 8 inches of bedding.

You dont NEED a wheel my boys have one and have never used it.

They cover the food with their bedding to protect it, in the wild the need to make sure nobody steals it

Gerbils ARE Jumpers so Put a lid on that thing!

They need time out of the cage!

my gerbils have never chewed on any of the pastic that i have given them.they have had that igloo and wheel in for 9 months and there is not one nibble mark on it.

and there is noooo need for that much bedding.thats just rediculous.

and i do realize that i just dont like when they do it.if they do i replace it

all my gerbils have used there wheels even before these.gerbils are very active so they need something to keep them busy

@wavestick3000 and i do have a lid.i couldnt possibly show you the inside of the cage if i had a lid on it so i didnt.and my gerbils do get time out of there cage.i never said they did,i know how to take care of my pets so you dont have to point out things that i already know

Please make sure you take the plastic out if you ever notice them doing so.

The deep bedding is to help them build lots of burrows as they would in the wild.

@agdollrocks well some times its always closed but like if im in my room i leave it open it interact better.but most of the times the top is on.i didnt show it in the video but you want to make sure to drill air holes in the top and on the sides if you can.you can chioce to not even put a top on but you need to make sure that no other pets can get in(cats or dogs) and also make sure that there is nothing in there that they can climb on and excape
