  • What is the programme you are using to show the slides?

  • @rockernoobsthurein The virtual microscope online at the Univ. of Iowa displays the slides, Camtasia records them, my 3-dollar radio-shack microphone describes them, YouTube receives the finished product.

  • THANK YOU! you're an awesome teacher and this is so helpful!!! i am speaking for about 10 kids in my anatomy class right now when i say THANK YOU! :)

  • This is amazing, thank you so much!

  • Britney Spears Goes Crazy!

  • basal layer = stratum basalis?

  • @imnotaqtp stratum basale.

  • You said "stratum spungeosum", did you mean spinosum or is it another name for the same?

  • @mv2slash2

    spinosum is the correct term

  • @mv2slash2 :-D spungeosum

  • there is no stratum lucidum in thin skin...was that just a mistake?

  • @gottalottasteil8 yup there isn't stratum lucidum in thin skin

  • nope, that´s true... lucidum can be seen only in thick skin

  • About germinativum, do you mean Malphigian?

  • @MrMomomade IMHO they are all the same

  • the same

  • 2:59 stratum basalis or stratum germinativum

  • @bioenzyme89 stratum basale

  • Also forgot to mention, in the papillary dermis, those processes that weave up and down, are called the 'Rete Ridges'

    love your videos!

  • This is just what I needed to fulfill my knowledge needs in order to get good grades in histology, mostly practical classes. I had the basic theoric knowledge, but having such a good video with a remarkable narration helped me a lot in understanding microscopy. Thank you Shotgun!

  • Thanks for excellent presentation. I would like to know what software is useful to download entire slide which could give various magnifications.

  • great One thanks,

But DO you have A Video Just for the layers of the normal skin, cause i need it for a presentation :)

kindly if u have it please

  • thanx alot for uploading these.. will be having an oral pathology exam coming up soon and it's good to revise the basics

  • very helpful, thank you :-)

  • nice video anyway, thank you for taking the time to show it.

  • I think iceman is correct. Only thick skin has the stratum lucidum layer. Thick skin has five layers in the epidermis and thin skin has only four.

  • Probably a sample from a soft-skinned hairless beauty, why worry about hair when there are more nicer things to learn here for nonhistologists. U post a video if u have one with a hair. Thank u Shotgun!

  • Does your forehead have hair? I know mine doesn't, but it's thin skin. How about your inner arm? The lateral skin on your abdomen?

Not all thin skin has hair.

  • @nuke20ar All thin skin does have hair, in histology structures are viewed under a micrscope, therefore they may not be visible with the naked eye.

  • Thanks for the information.

  • yep he corrected himself

  • there's no stratum "spongiosum"! the layer superficial to the stratum basale/germatitivum is called stratum spinosum because of its spiny appearance from desmosomes connecting the cells to each other.

  • It doesn't matter, he did a great job.

  • He did a great job indeed, but it still does matter.

Thanks for all your videos, man.

    Cheers from Argentina

  • Hey thanks for the video! Amazing discussion. I would just like to point out only thick skin has stratum lucidum
