No, he made the right choice. These things are expensive, and very nice. Basically an HTC Diamond with nicer camera, slightly larger screen, and a bit more storage (probably). Apple phone 3G, 3GS or whatever, even the new one released recently, none of them compare to this.

WOW, this ad is so full of shit that it stinks more than a sewage treatment plant! This phone has of lot of shortcomings. The UI is MUCH slower than what the ad depicts. The camera is basically crap (video&still) very choppy. Virtual fish? Nothing special. Nice keys you might think until you see how poorly lit they are in the dark (uneven lighting). To top it off it comes with no divx or xvid support.
Being an old Ericsson user I realise that it makes you VERY picky about your phones... And though th Iphone is cool and great in some senses it just doesn't do the trick for me... much of the chit in the Iphone is crap compared to other phones (my old Ericsson for example and its what 5 years old?!)... Iphone is a big hype and the people who buys it are people who doesn't care and whants something to flash rather than use! It is slow, it jams, and you have to hack it to make anything out of it!

I've had an Xperia for some months and I was not satisfied. It doesn't respond as fast as seen on the video. It's so slow for everything. I was almost satisfied when I installed SPB Mobile Shell (it kicks ass) but even with it I felt it slow. Other problem I had with this phone is the battery. It lasts about 1 day and half. With Omnia (my actual phone) I can use the mobile for about 4 days without running out of battery. Xperia would really kick ass if it had stronger cpu and a better battery.
I lend my Omnia to my brother and I'm using Xperia again. On 2 days on stand-by (just using alarm) it drains ALL battery life. Maybe it's an issue with my battery?

I have the sony ericsson xperia and yeah you can't type that fast on a phone but trust me the keypad is so good that I can bet you there is no other fone which can type faster than this one. it takes a while to get the speed cuz you need to get used to it but once you get used to it, u love typing fast on it :D

the xperia is so easy to unlock. I unlocked mine in 10 minutes. you will find xperia forums where they show you how to do that.
also, you can do a whole lot of stuff on xperia than any other fone. you can change windows, you can install touch flo 3d. you can customize as much as u want.

So I think the Idou would be equivalent to an LG Xenon or something, just with overly exaggerated features. The interface looks nice though. In any event, I'm sticking with the XPERIA because I know that the Idou can't be that much better and I like what Ericsson's done with the device to begin with. But it's your call.
OK The Idou's a good phone, and I fully support and endorse more than 95% of SE products...I even have a basic temp phone (used until I can buy my X1 just before school) and that's just as good as a lot of phones on the market right now. But I think the Idou, while it is a great phone, is a little unnecessary. They only packed in a 12.1 Megapixel Camera because they knew they needed to if they were gonna follow up the X1 successfully. With such a powerful phone, it's a tough act to follow.
Bottom Line. X1 is better. That's why in one month I'm going to Rogers Wireless to pick it up. Yes, it is $249.99 on a three-year contract, but it's worth the money. And I saved up. I would rather pay $50 more to get better quality than pay less for the average.

This phone is a very nice phone. I have an iPhone 3g a particualarly like 3D, touch screen and full keyboard phones. I'm a techy guy and love complicated phones. I recommend the HTC Fuze, Nokia N97, Blackberry Storm, Nokia Aeon, Iphone 3g or 3gs doesen't matter, The Live 22, The Prada, The Prada II, The White or Black Pearl or any of the Sony Ericcson Series.

The Sony Xperia was a let down, thats why its being discontinued after a short few months of its release and for a phone, considering its expansion capabilities with its panels, thats saying something. I didn't like the look of the panels or the its slab like proportions and those triangular buttons made the phone altogether UGLY.
i actually stopped using my iphone to use the x1. It has a much better feel to it imo. The iphone has great apps, but thats it. Its not a very good phone. Its more of a multimedia device that happens to have a phone built in. Not to mention the x1 has superior sound quality...you'd think it'd be the other way around but nope. And im talking objective sound frequency tests. Im a producer so sound quality means something to me...but to each his own.
When it comes to sound, Sony Ericsson hardly ever fails in this department. Even the piece of crap I'm using now from SonyEricsson has a great sound and the phone is 5years old. Maybe the Xperia should not have been a windows mobile device to begin with.

also, you can do a whole lot of stuff on xperia than any other fone. you can change windows, you can install touch flo 3d. you can customize as much as u want.
xperia simply rocks.

So I think the Idou would be equivalent to an LG Xenon or something, just with overly exaggerated features. The interface looks nice though. In any event, I'm sticking with the XPERIA because I know that the Idou can't be that much better and I like what Ericsson's done with the device to begin with. But it's your call.

OK The Idou's a good phone, and I fully support and endorse more than 95% of SE products...I even have a basic temp phone (used until I can buy my X1 just before school) and that's just as good as a lot of phones on the market right now. But I think the Idou, while it is a great phone, is a little unnecessary. They only packed in a 12.1 Megapixel Camera because they knew they needed to if they were gonna follow up the X1 successfully. With such a powerful phone, it's a tough act to follow.

Bottom Line. X1 is better. That's why in one month I'm going to Rogers Wireless to pick it up. Yes, it is $249.99 on a three-year contract, but it's worth the money. And I saved up. I would rather pay $50 more to get better quality than pay less for the average.

ok anyone saying this phone sucks probably got it unlocked and you're on a shitty network. iPhone is crap. I can name several phones that do everything that the iPhone does. People just buy it for the brand name. X1 has a more unique design, with new semi-innovative software and more features plus a Windows OS packed with apps and programs (which do run better than previous WinMo's). Canadians who have purchased this device on Rogers will tell you of its glory.

flash support, drag and drop music folder, multitask, keyboard and buttons so u don't have to rely on screen, glove friendly, take written notes and diagrams with the accuracy of your finger tip, stereo bluetooth (well they fixed that with 3.0). yep the iphone does it all. the iphone is a great phone, but it is not the "most smartphone ever". only advantages and disadvantages on different features.

iphone is cheaper because its locked by AT&T or T-Mobile. if they are unlocked like on ebay, its more than 1000 bucks. more expensive than X1. unfortunately theres no X1 with contract. but i dont wanna get a contract anyway, u hv to pay $30/mo for data plan. too much for me.

well this phone is for business people who travel a lot. its got microsoft office mobile. u can do ur work temporarily while ur travelling w/o carrying a huge laptop. n this phone has wifi, so to me even tho u dont hv the data plan, u still can use the wifi n connect. if ur not a business person, dont buy this thing, useless. if ur a fun person, then the iphone is better coz its got more apps n games.less about business.

i believe so. but so many people use blackberry. i dont wanna get the same thing. i wanna get this phone because not many people using it. theres a good X1 review on utube but i forgot which one. i find it fun too. n very luxury.yea im bit of a show off but i use the features too, like the camera.sony cam is the best to me. n the microsoft word to do my HW. music.sony is the first who came up w/ music on the go through walkman etc.

This phone is a very nice phone. I have an iPhone 3g a particualarly like 3D, touch screen and full keyboard phones. I'm a techy guy and love complicated phones. I recommend the HTC Fuze, Nokia N97, Blackberry Storm, Nokia Aeon, Iphone 3g or 3gs doesen't matter, The Live 22, The Prada, The Prada II, The White or Black Pearl or any of the Sony Ericcson Series.

The Sony Xperia was a let down, thats why its being discontinued after a short few months of its release and for a phone, considering its expansion capabilities with its panels, thats saying something. I didn't like the look of the panels or the its slab like proportions and those triangular buttons made the phone altogether UGLY.

i actually stopped using my iphone to use the x1. It has a much better feel to it imo. The iphone has great apps, but thats it. Its not a very good phone. Its more of a multimedia device that happens to have a phone built in. Not to mention the x1 has superior sound quality...you'd think it'd be the other way around but nope. And im talking objective sound frequency tests. Im a producer so sound quality means something to me...but to each his own.

When it comes to sound, Sony Ericsson hardly ever fails in this department. Even the piece of crap I'm using now from SonyEricsson has a great sound and the phone is 5years old. Maybe the Xperia should not have been a windows mobile device to begin with.
