If you'd use transparent paint you wouldn't have to repaint it 4 or 5 times. Just render the shapes in some light yellow-green and then just darken it where it needs till it's all dark enough. Seems like a lot of unnecessary painting for the end result you got. Sorry if that sounds harsh but just my thoughts after watching the vid.
