Just an FYI this isn't DFU mode. This is recovery mode...

DFU = hold power button 2 secs, power + home 10 secs, release power and hold home for 10 more secs..

it wont work for my itouch 4.1 i have it powered off, then i hold round button, then i press power and it just turns on :/ once u restore ur ipod once r u able to do it again

Hey, Had same prob. If you're always ending up in recovery mode, try just holding the two buttons for about 5 seconds until the screen goes black. Then let go of power and hold home for another 10 seconds. If the apple logo came up, you held the 2 buttons for too long.
