dr. Kwan - one question - are there new ways of grafting now? I had a bottom graph put in on my bottom from four teeth and the graph was cut from my top palette. Is the procedure done differently nowadays ?
@alboss13 The oral environment is normally hydrated and I feel compelled to keep it that way especially when inducing the type of trauma (albeit as minimal as possible) that our procedures involve. I know that we can tend to focus on the procedure and let the tissue get quite dried out. We have performed procedures where up to 10mm of recession were present. Unfortunately on that procedure the patient refused to let me video the procedure. And yes I am a periodontist.

@iKJew I still do the kind of graft you describe. So for various reasons we do different kinds of grafting.

Why is hydration site so important? to help soft tissue attach faster?
What are the success rates of perio flaps? I mean up to how many mm recession can you manage align the gingival margin to CEJ level?
