  • awesome for lan parties.

  • aruora is still da best

  • @MSIGAMINGPRO True but i think the auroras are i tad bit overpriced. You can play many maybe all games on a medium setting on the x51. Depending on which model might i add. Unless you need the highest quality possible then get the Aurora.

  • @MrBeatlebuddy ifyou get the arurora with 2000 dollars it's a gaming machine that is a beast.

the x51 is a portable version of the arurora that's the only difference

but i likethe x51 because of it's portibility, design and price

  • @MSIGAMINGPRO True performance with the aurora is definently better than the X51. But not everyone needs a computer to play all games on Extra or Ultra. For me i just want a computer than can play most games on a medium-high setting with minimal lag.

  • Does this thing run on controller or keyboard?

  • Mmhm and I just spent 1000 bucks on something not as good as dis pice o shit

  • STEAM BOX!!

  • All, update here. A PERFECT upgrade to this machine, if you want more GPU horsepower versus the stock GTX 555 that comes with it, would be the new AMD Radeon HD 7870 graphics card. It as a 9.5-inch PCB, so it should fit no problem, and requires two 6-pin PCIe power connections. The X51 has a spare PCIe power plug so that will work too. This card is slightly faster than an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 or AMD Radeon HD 6970. Check our site for a full review on the card. We posted it it today.

  • @HotHardwareVids wouldnt that overheat it? ive heard of many cases having this happen due to this.

  • how well would this run bf3?

  • @Weapon0fCho1ce the cheapest one should run BF3 in 30 FPS

  • @Weapon0fCho1ce 1920x1080p

  • Comment removed

  • Is the i3 version any good?

  • @zazonion12 It was i5

  • @SirSteirn It can be configured with an i3 -_-

  • @SirSteirn I know, but I'm asking if the i3 version is any good for gaming.

  • @zazonion12 No, will probably be difficult to run with a i3. when to play games. perhaps with a simple game you can play games with it =)

  • @zazonion12 Yes

  • @zazonion12 i3 are older but still decent for gaming but it depends on what games you are playing

I would suggest choosing the i5 CPU since it is wayy better the i7 dont have any difference in gaming

  • u ppl fail to realize the power on the outside elimenates ALOT of heat within the pc...dell has already said they will be upgrading the psu IN THE FUTURE,...the gtx 55 doesnt even make a soung at bf3 on hIGH...keep thinking its a pos..its def not... theres room in this box...

  • i have one i7 model and i love it...so keep hatin haters,...its a dope PC for the money, fuck ur 80 lb rig. no one cares... size doesnt matter,

  • Meh.

  • just swap the hdd with two ssd's in raid 0 and i would be happy

  • i just bought one i LVOVE IT

  • @gaminglaps you forgot the power supply, case, and the damn OS disc... all or some with no warranty. plus 40gb of ssd space.. WTF?? I mean.. you install the OS ALONE and you pretty much have to think about what to install or your shit out of luck cause your fkin out of space.. probably 1 game or 2... lmao

  • @b4393 dumbazz! where the he'll have you seen a dual slot gtx graphics card for a laptop.. and as for building your own rig with twice as much power for the sane price.. your an idiot.. do the math you get the same components.. and end up with just 100-150 dollar savings.. which is worth the cool case, warranty and labor to build it.. retard!

  • The only thing I don't like is the weak power supply... They better be coming out with some ps brick upgrades soon. Otherwise, I won't be getting this. 550w would be nice.

  • it be really awesome if they add an ssd sometime, desktop that size it makes sense no?

  • A newbie here. Are there any 600-700w external PSU in the market compatible with x51?

  • this is important. is the £699 good for running general tasks aswell as handling 3dsmax, maya, blender, and free to play mmos?

  • @razoremblem yes it is

  • can it run Battlefiled 3 Smoothly? no lag issues ?

  • @andrew2324g runs at 50fps+

  • @andrew2324g Yes.

  • @andrew2324g the i7 version is able to play BF3 @ high, with a decent framerate. if you want to put a 7870 in it, it will run even faster :O

  • @andrew2324g If you buy this machine with the Intel i7 processor and the 1GB GDDR5 GTX555. It will run games like Battlefield 3 and The Witcher 2 on medium settings at 30-40 fps. High or Ultra settings will cause the X51 to struggle fps wise.

  • read this flawless review:

Alienware X51 Desktop Review - Introduction

He explains how to upgrade to an SSD ( without replacing your 1 TB HDD ) and XFX Radeon HD7950!!!

  • @rogelio2020 .go to hardwareheaven and check the review of alienware x51

  • The only thing I would buy from alienware is a laptop.. I have m17x r3 but destops I can build for this same price but 2 times more powerfull. Also this is a laptop graphics card!! This is not a Destop grapics card

  • @b4393 umm no its not? its definitely a full size graphics card. you put that card in a laptop you are going to have 1 effing huge laptop. this card is just about on par with the gtx 560 which probably nvidia's best selling card.

  • maybe a dumb question. but since the power supply is external, cant you get another one with more power, to upgrade the PC more. or am i talking bullshit right now ?

  • please give this to me.. ;)

lolz.. nice review .. its a treat to the eye !!

  • is this the alienware andromeda??

  • How mucth this PC cost?

  • @ItsxTrapUAE £699 to £949 there are 4 models of this PC

  • is it possible to slide in a SSD as a secondary internal drive?

  • @daxmagex like to know aswell!

  • @daxmagex wtf

  • @daxmagex no, there is no possibility of adding a second hdd. You can however buy a hybrid hdd.

  • Its not worth the money. Probably cheaper and better to just build your own gaming pc.

  • Everyone the alienware x51 has now moved up in price unfortunately :/

  • not worth it. I'd rather make my own. btw alienware is crap.

  • I an confused.

    Which PC should I buy??

-Alienware M14x (I do travel and bring my laptop.)

    -Alienware x51

    Thanks!

  • @damitchman9 Depends what do want to do with either one?

  • @Daxter609 Gaming. I probably would treat the M14x as a desktop.

  • @damitchman9 Go for the X51 then, With laptops you have to fork out a shit ton to get performance similar to a desktop plus it will be a worthless POS, when it gets old and can't upgrade it.

  • @Daxter609 Very, very true. I am now going for the X51. Should I pay $200 for the improved processor? (i7, instead of i5.)

  • @damitchman9 Depends processors really don't make a FPS difference in games compared to GPUs I think the core i5 2320 should be more then good enough

  • @Daxter609 - Thank you so much! I was about to pay $1,200! My friend DID say that the processor doesn't make a huge change. Luckily the two processors aren't too different when it comes to speeds. Do you own an Alienware?

  • Comment removed

  • @Daxter609 Thanks again! I now EXACTLY what to get thanks to you! I only stream movies, and how much of a difference could I get with the GTX560ti? I might get that a little layer after purchasing.

  • @damitchman9 Buy an ASUS ROG, ASUS G(aming) Series, or MSI GT laptop.

  • @ExteriorLikeFishEggs Now I am just buying a desktop, but thanks!

  • @damitchman9 what model do you want for the X51

  • @MultiBenji1998 $950 version. All the high-end model has compared to this is a Core i7, instead of an i5.

  • @cyberboy109 Interms of US dollars I find this reasonably priced but it seems Dell/AlienWare are dumping their tax payer fees on the customers in Europe.

  • @Daxter609 Im sorry but I have a few american friends who work in the computing business and they also agree that this is still over priced, and you could still buy a more powerful itx system in the states...

  • @bills889 You forget it uses a slot load DVD drive which is at $50 and the PSU is External not internal so that will increase it more.

  • Comment removed

  • @cyberboy109 gtx 555 is a slightly detuned 560, for arguments sake i had to choose the 560 if you were to make a build yourself. "no where near" is a total exaggeration. core speed is only 30mhz lower and a slightly lower cuda core count. You seem to be extremely tense in expressing you distaste for alienware products on ALIENWARE VIDEOS. Whats wrong with you? Oh and congrats on boosting your ego sharing laughs with other nerds on a forum....

  • @bills889 My main point is any one buying this is being ripped of, you could do alot better for your money and still have a smaller system than this with more power, if you wanted to go smaller you can a gaming laptop for about the same price and plug upto your tv using hdmi...alienware have to rethink there prices and customer service, as for graphics again gtx 555 is a poor card to have in this system for the price

  • @cyberboy109 To argue that point - A gaming laptop is by far the worst investment, at least with x51 you CAN replace the 555 with any 9 inch card such as the 560 ti. Next year nvidia will launch the 6xx series cards and the gtx 650/660 will slip right into the x51.With a gaming laptop upgrades are not easy, and sometimes not even possible.

  • @bills889 Iv built ITX gaming systems for 8 years now and this is a joke, upgrading the gtx 555m to say a 650/660 is not going to be worth thats if the psu allows it, only other upgrades on this system will be changing the hdd to a ssd than miby bumbing up the ram, by the time you start adding up all the prices you could have a respected pc store build you a cheaper, smaller more powerfull system including windows 7...look lets just agree to disagree

  • @bills889 slightly lower cuda core counts?? look at it again please because it is substantially lower than the 560 ti.

    "no where near" sounds reasonable:

    Sugo05 (small case?)

    ITX Z68

    intel i5 2500K

    SSD 40GB for SRT cache

    6950/560ti448 edition/560ti/any lower

    8gb 1600mhz ddr3

    slim drive

there you go, a rig that costs the lower with better specs... oh boy WAYYYY BETTER. i do own alienware product but just wanted to blow off some bullshit

  • @gaminglaps Wow your really smart, theres a big difference between a GTX560 and a GTX560 ti. Read my post again.....

  • 2:10 - 2:12

  • Nice case, and case design....

but everything else is a COMPLETE RIPOFF. I'm making a rig with a monitor off of Newegg for $600 that RAPES this.

  • @MrHav1k tell us how to build a HTPC sized computer with desktop specs that "RAPES" this, with $450, and plus 1 year of warranty and tech support. List each component and price. Otherwise go troll somewhere else.

  • @MrHav1k oh and don't forget research and build times. Suppose you are really dumb as you appear, you earn minimum wage. Let's say, 10 hours for research + assembly. $70 for tech support + warranty. So, build a system that RAPES this for $300. Please.

  • @Zeratassadar

You must be the dumbest piece of shit to ever walk the earth. Go suck a dick Alienware fanboy.

  • @MrHav1k trololololol

  • can it run minecraft..?

  • fuck i want a big good pc for a price like this

  • Comment removed

  • PSU wattage isn't high enough to upgrade your video card this pc is only good for a year or less, not worth it.

  • @HeWhoIsBrave highly doubt alienware would make a pc that lasts that long...youre probably butt hurt because you cant get it or something..

  • @Touchguy912 na I already have a desktop that can run all the new games on reasonable settings but it's an Acer I bought at Staples, so for the past couple months I've been looking into building a pc. Probably from ncix.ca

  • @HeWhoIsBrave Actually its going to do fine since it can take in a GTX 560, AlienWare/Dell claims it can maybe take a GTX 580 but I don't believe it. With the direction hardware is going the next generation of hardware will offer better performance with the same amount of watts or even less.

  • @Daxter609 Really? Well I guess no one really knows what the power consumption will be on the next gen video cards, I think I'm gonna get a 640 or a 650 when they release.

  • @HeWhoIsBrave AMDs HD 7970 performs about 20%-30% faster then the GTX 580 while consuming like a 100 less watts.

  • 1000 dollars -_-

  • They should ship this with the gtx560, since alienware said it supports it, cause lets say u want to upgrade, what the hell are u gonna do with the 555? Throw it away?

  • I am planning on getting this system, and doing quite a bit of upgrading. Installing a new 2GB GTX 560, replacing stock RAM with 16GB (2X8GB) Kit, and maybe shoehorning an SSD into the case since there are extra Sata Connectors. If it won't fit, I will run the 1TB external.

  • where would i buy one of these

  • OMG if they have it here am geting it

  • @wanted888ghost AlienWare/Dells website and I believe it will be coming to retail stores soon.

  • this helped so much *subscribes*

  • hey guys, im not to good with this stuff so go easy on me :P

would the 900 dollar version of this computer be good for playing minecraft?

if so what type of fps and settings would i get?

    thanks guys

  • @teehee1995 minecraft was made in java, an outdated engine causing it to draw insane amount of cpu for a seemingly low power game, a GTX 555 will do minecraft on max at roughly 700-900 FPS, you wanna cap it using the options, what you want to focus on is the processing power as minecraft draws more of that, the $900 dollar version will come with i believe the 3.0 GHz quad core processor, so minecraft will run extremley smooth, keep in mind you cant see more than 60 fps, so you dont need 700 fps.

  • @XternalGamingDragon what do you mean it will only run 60 fps if it can max at 700-900 fps...again im not to good with this stuff so thanks :P

  • @teehee1995 you should never need to run anything at 900 frames per second as the human eye only sees up to 60 frames per second, and minecraft has an option to cap frames per second at 120 to prevent overheating graphics cards

  • @XternalGamingDragon ok, that makes sense, thanks so much

  • @XternalGamingDragon were are those settings?

  • Will having an external PSU allow a GTX570 to workin that box? Alienware has a video saying a GTX 560 will work. From what I understand, The gtx 570 uses less wattage than the 560.

  • does it support 3D Vision?

  • @TheJetchkout Yes but make sure TV is compatible with it

  • upgradable console...yaaaay!!!

  • Does the case take a certain form factor motherboard or is the motherboard manufactured specifically for the case?

  • @Andybadtothebone it takes mini itx

  • Thanks biggie

  • how much place do you have for the graphics card? plss in inch

  • cram a single 590 in there and then ill be impressed.

  • does it comes with cables like power and other needed stuff?

  • Thank's Dave! Can't wait for mine to get here. Tommy - AlienOwners. Com

  • DOES THIS MEAN THAT I CAN PUT THAT VIDEO CARD IN MY 280 WATT OFFICE PC WITH I3 500GB 4 GB RAM ECT...????

  • nice pc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What graphics card under $500 dollars would you recommend to upgrade this system? And is it even necessary? I'm looking to play games like Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 and would like to play at max setting without issues. I purchased the 949.00 unit with the i5 processor and GTX 555.

  • @kkdoughboy Buy the base model, no need to upgrade cards.

  • I WANT TO SEE HOW THEY OPEN IT DAMN IT, NO ONE EVER SHOWS THAT

  • @NatSmish - it's one simple screw and then the left side panel slides forward and off, just like a full sized PC. No biggie at all.

  • @HotHardwareVids

Hello, If I buy this can I upgrade the specs such as the CPU or RAM?

  • @HotHardwareVids

Just one question is it easy to replace the power supply and how much would a new one cost?

  • @AsylumDreamps3 - it's an external AC adapter PSU so it's as easy as it gets. :) Not sure on the price, though there are 220W and 330W versions of the bricks.

  • @HotHardwareVids

ahok thanks lot and one other thing is this the £799 one or £850 because i dont know the diffrence between them?

  • @HotHardwareVids Hi i have a question would the high end model of the x51 would it be able to run shogun 2 total war on ultra settings or high settings thanks

  • Is it effective to use multimedia and the internet?

  • @targa17 of course

  • i would feel like a dick for having that vid card on a shelf they should make an attachment so you can just get another gtx 555 and x fire or whatever nvidia calls it

  • I want it

  • @HotHardwareVids how does minecraft run on it?

  • How does minecraft run on it?

  • The CHEAPEST MODEL CAN PLAY BF3 1920x1080 at high settings with 30 FPS!!!

  • This is definitely a VERY good alternative for a console owners. Coming from someone who plays video games on a console, I can definitely say that this gaming PC is affordable, pack some serious and way better hardware and software than consoles, free online gaming and it's PC. Sure compare to other high end PC it lack some better graphics card etc. But compared to consoles, this PC overkills them. Definitely a must buy for entry level PC gamers and I hope Alienware gets into the market share.

  • Sorry my itx i5 2120 and 6850 plus a 160gb ssd is cheaper and smaller and more powerfull...my system build only cost £650 to build another over priced product by Alienware

  • @cyberboy109 Then stop watching X51 reviews you knob. You obviously are interested in it or you wouldnt be wasting your life preaching bs here, god some people are in denial.

  • @bills889 go fck your self, for your info I went onto it to see what it was like and once the video was over with the specs I made my judgement...its shocking that hardware companies like dell try to sell cheap arse hardware for such a high price..stop being a troll and do ur research

  • Anyone else having trouble with your order? Reply please

  • can u buy an external brick with a larger wattage?

  • I don`t get it this will play batman arkham city on max but can only handle battlefield 3 on medium this is bad marketing as for the site it shows mass effect 3 can it even handle that game also the lowest price big desktop by alienware is £1500.00 so what is the point of this thing console gamer will stick to consoles and PC gamers will stick to there own PC`s very very bad marketing alienware.

  • I love how its basically a laptop in disguise. FYI: just because it is a gtx 555, that doesn't mean that it is better than the 550 ti. It is actually much worse. The numbers refer to the serial number, not the performance.

  • @Thehiddenz11 - That's just not true, sorry. A GeForce GTX 550 Ti is a 192 CUDA core GPU and a GeForce GTX 555 is a 288 CUDA core GPU. It's significantly more powerful than the GeForce GTX 550 Ti.

  • @HotHardwareVids not the only spec, a 550 ti is faster

  • @udontseemebutiseeyou - Sorry, that's just not true. A GTX 550 Ti isn't even close to as fast as a Radeon HD 6850 and the GeForce GTX 555 in this machine beat a 6850 more often than not. Again, the GTX 555 GPU has 96 more CUDA cores than the 550 Ti,so it's faster hands-down.

  • Thanks for being the only reviewer I've found that actually gives a little detail about the noise level.

  • CAn anyone tell me if this computer can run starcraft 2 at 1920 X 1200 resolution on the Ultra setting?!?

  • Ill just wait for the xbox 720 and play games that look and run better for less than half the cost

  • WILL T RUN BF3 thou ?

  • Batman looked very jerky/stuttery as the camera was panning around, not enough fps to run a smooth camera flow through the hallways without the odd jolt every 5-10 seconds.

  • @SXGi1b0 - Average frame rate was 34 fps at 1920x1080 res, 47 fps at 1280x720 in that benchmark, which is worst case workload really because it throws a ton of physics effects at it and I had PhysX turned on for the GeForce card in the game control panel.

  • @HotHardwareVids Are you saying 34fps isnt enough then? Thats like saying a car can only go 80 mphs because it is in 5th gear with no wind resistance on an empty road, doesnt really make any sense or justify my first statement. If you are playing on game on a new pc you want full resolution and all physx and extra graphics etc turned on, you want the best, why should someone have to run lower than max res on a new pc just to get smooth frame rates, doesnt make sense to me?

  • @SXGi1b0 - No, I was just giving you the data, precisely as we measured it. 34 fps is actually fine for gameplay in this title, in my opinion. It would be nice to be higher but this is a small form factor PC, so you can only expect so much.

  • @HotHardwareVids Ok cheers, I always thought 30fps was like the bare minimum for a game to be smooth and playable anyway, 60fps is ideal for an optimal experience. Theres not much more I can say on the matter, I can see jolts as the camera pans through the hallways, whether thats the youtube vid having buffering problems or not idk but even at 34fps it looks awkward. If you have to down the resolution to increase fps why spend all that money on the pc when u can get a 360 for $199 or less.

  • @HotHardwareVids do a bf3 benchmark

  • @SH1THEAD96 Lol, why on earth would you have bought that?

  • @JaCieKochams2 GOW is an xbox exclusive

  • @LukeNuss1 The First gears of War is on PC

  • @LukeNuss1 Gears of War was on PC...

  • will it run gears of war

  • This is the first Full Review of this Alienware X51. Thanks HotHardwareVids!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey can you guys try a 560 Ti and tell us if it runs oay on the X51?
