Usually you can get a bit more into the tank if you fill it "to the brim" as is shown in the video. If you just fill until first click, tank will not be full, because diesel foams and when foam contacts the nozzle, the pump turns off. So if you want to fill to the brim, you have to wait for a few minutes for the foam to settle and then fill it very slowly until you can see the diesel.
But 15ltr over specified tank volume - impressive...
What a load of marketing cr@p. The implication that they refuelled it with 70l into a 55l tank is very misleading. If it was refueled why not tell us. Perhaps it is really a 75l tank & all of the Hyundai literature is wrong????
I test drove one of the Highlanders yesterday and it is a very nice car indeed however this video really makes me want to ask the question about authenticity of the figures.
Yes, interesting. The strong implication is that they did not re-fill it en-route because of the "seal" they showed you snipping at the end. So, as you say, why don't they come clean?
Yes the tank is 55 litres. The video doesnt show it but they refuelled in Ballarat so it took 70.23 litres to do the 1400 odd km at 58 mpg. A bit misleading.
More than "a bit" I think. They actually showed the wire "seal" being snipped which, if it had already been broken once, is blatant misrepresentation. However, they DID come clean about the overall volume of fuel used so they'd say it's a moot point.
Mine can do better....already got 4,6 Lts/100km with adjusted ecu map on the IX35 1.7CRDI

Back... now I have 10k on the clock.....best economy is 6.4ltrs/100km
I think I can do better than that with the following adjustments to the car.....
1. Put 100psi in the tyres..(Helium gas will help)
2. Fold back external revision mirrors
3. Silicon wax the car
4. Remove spare tyre..back seat..floor mats...roof racks...rear tailshaft...water from windscreen bottle...remove ash tray...log book...etc
5. Don't use Air-Con
6. Get it out of Auto and get it into 6th gear ASAP
