  • A cover of this by the Beastie Boys? I'm not sure. But I recall hearing about a version by the Utah Saints collaborating with Saint Winifred's School Choir and I'm pretty sure that Nico and Des O'Connor performed it as a duet.

  • @Khayyam1048 Sorry to say, I don't know much about covers, so its good to hear they exists.

Thanks for the comment and listening !

  • I ran across some info that said this was recorded in 1928.

BTW, the DeFord Bailey mentioned was the first star of the Grand Ol' Opry. He was a black harmonica player.

  • Thanks for the information !

    Much appreciated !

    I'll change my recordingdate-info !

  • back when the Blues were still closely tied to early Country Western, when yodelling was still accepted in both & before 'Singing Cowboys' caught on. a Rare & special Find. TY

  • Larry, I agree, it's a country song more than a blues, but I don't like to put labels on music.

As long as it's good music, it's good.

    Peace Brother !

  • I agree, I waas primarily using the CW linkage to try & ID the time period of the song. as well as make a small socially relevant comment.

Keep that Great Music coming. Its always interesting to explore the linkages to & between Music genres / styles esp. over time.

  • If you come up with something about recordingdate, please let me know. I found this on an old LP and my books says "nothing" yet. I did the upload on request. So, we keep on playing and listening,

    Thanks !

  • I call it a "country blues." Sweet music, no matter the name!

  • I agree, call it what you want, but as you say no matter what, as long as its good music.

  • great!

  • Thanks for the comment and listening.

    Peace.

  • Yeah Mule! Do you know when this was released? Also where was he from? Fine guitar work. Thanks

  • Vinny, I'm not sure about recordingdate, but I will find out and where from the guys are. I promise. This is an upload on request, so as soon as I know I give you all facts.

    Peace Brother.

  • Urban, does the LP cover show the original label and catalog number from the 78 that the recording was taken from? If so, I can find out the recording date. Sam McGee (1894-1975) and his brother Kirk (1899-1983) were from Franklin, TN., a town in the Nashville area.

  • Thank you Urban! Enjoyed very much*****

  • Thanks my friend,'

2009 will be a good year for the Blues, I think !
