Waltrip was considerably further back in the field when the green flag dropped, but once he saw Dale Jr in front of, I'm sure he knew what he should do.

This was indeed a total emotional night. I remember this very well. I really got choked up on this race. Just couldn't believe how this was like a story book ending in 01. I sparely watch nascar after Dale was gone. Having to see Danny "chocolate" myers going down there, Mikey Waltrip with jr. celebrating in front of the crowd was one of nascar's greatest moments. Even BP sounded emotional over the mic. Thanks for posting.

its a good concept. its hard to tell, some of the camera angles are different the cars are different too, of course, the cot will go even slower come october.
in 2000-2001 the cars had the roof strip on the cars which punched a bigger hole in the air for more passing, the same areo package as the busch cars.
the mph that they displayed for the cars on tv is the same as they show today. the only things that have changed are the commentary (good job abc) and the aerodynamics. back then the cars could get a bigger run on people and it may have made it seem faster. todays aero package is stupid and its harder to pass so they just stay in line more now.

man, I'll tell ya. My whole family is full of Earnhardt fans including myself. Everytime my father and/or I watch this video we get choked up, because this is just the best moment we've ever seen of the Greatest Driver in the world's son. This was just like watching the old man himself. I couldn't imagine how proud the teams had to be and especially Jr himself. It's a very emotional moment, and definatly the happiest. His dad was smiling down on him that day at how proud he is of Jr.

they run a little slower today because nascar has changed the size of holes on the restricter plate making them smaller which slows the cars down
