  • @CCCPSimbirsk

    Tablas

  • really sounds different and amazing too! isn't it.

    anushka is pretty tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo:

  • amazing... does anyone know what taal they are playing in?

  • @09dedalus The taal is known as Dhamar .It is a 14 beat cycle.

Btw, this recording is not amazing. Rather a FIXED one. Every thing is so pre decided. I'm sorry this not what classical music is all about.

  • seriously if I were to become a king, this type of music would be playing in my palace 24/7

  • look at their feet! can a father be closer to his daughter? can a daughter follow her father more closely?

  • @simontcm nigga you're a foot

  • @simontcm I agree! I was noticing that their foot-tapping is perfectly in synch :)

  • great

  • @Ganon2234: its the Tabla.

  • what is the name of those drums

  • its a very interesting music its easy to meditate too or relax too and let your imagination bring vivid vision to ones mind

  • just had an eargasm

  • CHEK OUT MY TABLA SOLO............FARRUKHABADI RELA

  • awesome!!

  • Fantasztikus !!!

  • this song made my head all fuzzy and good

  • Tabs? oh wait...

  • I am not into this kind of music but I just can't change video dunno why but its so relaxing!!!!!

  • Love it, thanks for share

  • I am an Indian-American (the casino kind), French mix, and I live in the most multi-cultured (and oddly enough, tolerant) city I've ever known, (one of our biggest festivals of the year is Folklorama, an city wide event featuring the numerous cultures of our town.) and i have a fond liking for all sorts of music. I LOVE Shankar, and the sitar. :-)

  • immenso

  • I love the tabla player who is just immersed

  • @randikajamai his name is Bickram Ghosh. You should check his work out. Its awesome!

  • @ysmzaika

Arguing over something that is mostly subjective, as music is, ironically highlights your own ignorance. It's the music that bends your soul that is best and every listener gets to judge that for themselves and to some technicality is irrelevant, so knock off your pointless shit and enjoy or move along to something you will

  • omg. it just gets better and better. true blessing.

  • @ysmzaika

    less than 4 thousand views...............................

Ravi gets more than that each day. Wrap your dhoti round your and cry. With more than a billion people in India, the overseas issue is a non starter.

  • @ysmzaika , thanks. Glad you provided some links. And not just a 1000, but 100s of 1000s of people know Vilayat Khan is better than Ravi Shankar. Can't expect people overseas to know that much about Vilayat Khan, that's all. It's tough luck, but it happens all the time. I also think Anoushka Shankar is just riding daddy's coat talis. There are 1000s of young sitar players far superior to her.

  • Redd Foxx?

  • This is Bliss.

  • belle....merci !!!!!

  • @ysmzaika , for that he would have to be heard, buddy. Just your saying it won't cut any ice. Post a video in response instead.

  • @ysmzaika , you're absolutely right. Ustad Vilayat Khan is greater than Ravi Shankar, but he didn't get the international exposure that Ravi Shankar did. You're protesting in the wrong forum. People need to be exposed to Vilayat Khan before they can make a judgement and that simply hasn't been the case.

  • I love how they are sitting on the floor. Just chillin'...

  • @cosmos00us far out man

  • there are no words to say my feeling... I'm just a little musician from Touraine, I know that I cannot understand but I have a great emotion. Thanks for these moments

  • if you want to criticize two incredible musicians, then why don't you get up on a stage and do better than them? its all about feeling, beautiful

  • i went to a raga concert once... one of the best musical experiences in my entire life!

  • @planckinstein do you remember your past lives?

  • How the hell can someone dislike such a difficult, divine and dainty dish of celestial music?

  • thumbs up for 35 people whom have misplaced their souls and replaced them with Beiber Fever and Slip Knot...

  • I liked the lyrics

  • id love to jam with norah johns half sis.

  • You and your 4 friends need to have peace in your heart. You are coming across as mean and jealous...............you and your Ustad are unknowns and keep your opinions to yourself unless soembody asks you. If others are getting more credits that's good and more power to them. Maybe some other idiot like you is is thrasing them. Nobody listens or cares about mean people.

  • before you know 9:16 minutes are over.

  • There is a world beyond words. A world never discovered, but merely revealed.

  • @ysmzaika

and you are such an unknown - in your whole life you will not have 1 thousand people listen to you - and this is just one song posted online with more than a million listen that does not include repeats.

peace brother and be kind to yourself.

  • Intoxicating. More, please.

  • She is breathtaking!

  • She is breathtaking!

  • Enchanting...

Am I on mother earth .. or does this sound comes from a higher planet..?

  • music is such a gift. Shankar ,Ravi and sitar. Now Anushka.what more can we ask for.So good to escape into world of music!!

  • I'm floating~~~~~

  • i want to play the sitar.

  • I had the extreme privilege of seeing Ravi and Anoushka @ the University of Michigan's Hill Auditorium in October of 2009. It was a priceless experience that i will never forget! Thank you for making such beautiful music!!!!!!!

  • its call sitar ! u fool

  • Can somebody tell me the name of the instruments they are playing?

  • Wow, I love this!

  • 32 people have a different taste in music than i, and i fully respect them for that.

  • @kyle2point but i'm feel sorry for them

  • @kyle2point i respect for respecting those who does not deserve respect. disrespect for those who can't respect others.

  • @kyle2point i dont

  • @kyle2point cool that is refreshing :{P

  • @kyle2point Excellent... I wish that could be said on every video XD

  • There's an energy, a vibe that seems to manifest in the air in this video. Not just between Ravi and Anoushka, or even Ravi and his players, but between everyone present. There is something highly spiritual that occurred in this moment, and even through this video it is palpable. I think their spirits were singing - If you listen hard enough you can almost hear it.

  • Anoushka is just such an amazing sitar musician....

  • Hes the Pat Metheny of India....only 30 earlier :)

  • Sitar Fantastic...Lavi Shankar family best!!! ♥Luv World Music!!!

  • Wow! Wow! Wow!

  • Raga is expression of feelings of love, sadness or joy as per its very evolution from the specific culture and as per varying situations faced by the people in that culture. It strikes when synchronized with situation being faced by the particular group of people or individuals in due course of time at specific moment.

  • How would a raga of despair and pain inside

  • Khoobsurat. Khoobsurat. Khoobsurat.

  • this is very beautiful...

  • The fluidity of the music caries joy in the air!

  • pure pranav...

  • "Most people are musicians simply because they play a certain instrument; when they play that instrument, the music appears. But Ravi - to me, he is the music; it just happens to be that he plays the Sitar. And it's like that with Anoushka. She has that quality - She is the music.

    -George Harrison - 1997

  • It's God and His daughter on the Sitar and Bikram Ghosh on the Tabla!!

  • It's the percussion that does it for me, just takes me to that other level of existence

  • WWWWWOOOOOOOO HHOOOOOOOO!!!! I GOT TICKETS !!!!!! Birmingham 16th!!! I'm jumping round the room!!!!!!!

  • I love that they are good players... but even better- that they ENJOY what they do!

  • what type of music is this called?

  • @bathingapes112 This is Indian Classical. Its Father and daughter - Pandit Ravi Shankar and his daughter, Anoushka Shankar on the Sitar.

  • I had tears in my eyes at the end. So touching. :P

  • If the Youtube cliche of "this came from God's Ipod" applied to any video it would be this one. This music uniquely human at the same time. It expresses the deepest emotions that aren't always in the foreground of our thoughts. For this reason, I believe, we find it alien and "God Like". Divinity is what you declare it to be since the idea was ours after all. Much peace and love to everyone!

  • @ahhhhjjjj peace and love to you as well :) <3

  • @ahhhhjjjj; might I suggest Kitaro's Matsuri...

  • love this!

  • At 7:41 the Maestro finds Nirvana!

  • RAVI SHANKER JI AND ANUSHKA JI ARE LEGENDARY GREAT AND FAMOUS SITAR PLAYERS AND PROUD OF INDIA.

  • @MJMorrey he isn't pissed...in fact he is in awe of the great Pt. Ravi Shankar playing in front of him and that he got a chance to play along with him...he is mesmerized by the way the Sitar maestro is improvising...The maestro is fitting the raga brilliantly into one cycle of the taal that the tabla guy is playing... At one point of time Pt. Ravi Shankar dodges the beats by finishing the raga 1 beat before the tabla guy ends the cycle of beats...which is quite tricky to synchronize with

  • @knlshrvstv I know. I was just saying he looks pissed...

  • *****

  • What is the correct name of the set of drums he is playing?

  • @j4allen

    ah nevermind, it's tabla :)

  • @j4allen Tabla
