  • How could such young kids make such wonderful music?

  • The first voice was Latimer... no sense to focus the camera on Sinclair. In my opinion, sax is out of line replying guitar in some passages.

One of the best songs ever written, as Echoes.

  • I KNOW THIS IS NOT RELEVANT, BUT IVE GOT A TINY DICK

  • only I hear Coltrane and Miles Davis influences?

  • @Killensuen Can not name them :) but they moved towards jazz at this time which was the reason original bassist Ferguson leaving the band.

  • Love that Bass... I should... I own it now, just can't play it like Richie!!!

  • @ze1054 Great performance of Sinclair. Much better than the Camel's first bass player.

  • Ehy there are many mistakes in this performance. The studio version is a lot better! No like the sound of sax! It bored me

  • guitar and sax sound so fantastic together. Pure awsomeness!

  • they are very young here

  • esta verson de esta canción es mi favorita... tsss el saxofon me facina....

  • Dioses!!!!

  • hey you!!the simon channel you got a problem with camel or you like them cause if u said the song holy fuvk!!!explain me!!!

  • this band is so underrated, definitely my favorite.

  • Holy f'ck!! :D Never heard this band before! (Bad english)

  • I only found this band around a year ago via a friend. Mirage and Moonmadness are a good starting point. Snowgoose is instrumental music of great quality.

  • agreed about the places to start, but if you love music (orchestral prog-rock/jazz in general) then you HAVE to get "the Snow Goose" and read the short story of the same name

  • This goes off topic but I truly recommend searching the instrumental piece Windermere Avenue by guitarist Jukka Tolonen. I believe You might like it.

  • Gooodd for you to find!!!!

If you wnt more sax try "First light, great saxending.

If you want more Guitar "Ice" + Hymn to her.

    Also Camel.

  • Wow, how cool is that ! Where are bands like that nowadays? Bands that CAN play their instruments, compose their own music and perform it by themselves??

  • haha yeah well there's still pendragon, awesome Camellish band :) bt you're right, so sad! Especially those dreadfull desperate shows like "Idols' or "so you wanna be a popstar" etc. This is what it's about, emotion, feeling and indeed being able to transform your feeling into music, those guuys breathe music. I'll never forget the way Latimer silenced the entire audience with "ice" and "for today". That's music!!

  • Pendragon..., thanks for that hint. To my shame I have to say, I didn't know them before. I've listened to some of their songs at youtube now and liked them. Although they do a bit to much of vocals to my taste. I rather like instrumental virtuosity, like Camel demonstrates in many songs or e.g. Yes, whom I do like very much, especially for that. That kind of music truly may be compared to so called classic music in its buildup and complexity.

  • hey glad you liked them! they have different "patches" in their music. "Not of this world", "window of life", "the world" and "the masquerade overture" are pink floyd/camel-like, "Believe" is a bit more modern and the last one "Pure" is heavy with genesis-like influences. If you like the vocal harmonies of Yes and their music you might want to check out The Flower Kings as well! :) As for pendragon's vocals, it takes a while to get used to, the music is definetly worth it though!!

  • Exceeded the allowed length, so here is part2:

On the other hand, of course I have to admit that there are vocal oriented songs that are really worth listening to, though. For example, "Wing and a Prayer" by Camel from the Breathless Album, which at the moment is one of my all time favourites. Unfortunately, that one is'nt available on Youtube. I just can't stop listening to that one. And it sounds better to me every time I hear it. Silly, isn't it? Hope my english is ok,as I am german at last.

  • camel were the first band i ever saw, liecester 1978. will never forget it, and that was what made me want to play bass, what a great bass player!

  • We remain optimistic, even more so now than ever before. It is, however, still a long road to recovery. He still has a number of side effects to deal with, both from the stem cell transplant and from the drugs he must take for the foreseeable future. But he is doing so with dignity and humour, now having fewer down days. They are always made easier by the support he has received from his family, friends, and this global Camel family.

  • ANDREW'S HEALTH 137 DAYS POST TRANSPLANT...

I apologise for the lack of information these past weeks. Andrew's excellent progress suffered a nasty setback in February. We did send out a newsletter to those on our mailing list, appealing for a renewed Hour Candle lighting and you responded in force. It is so heartening. After a tough 4 weeks, he finally rallied and began to stabilise. He was able to come home in late March and, since then, has gone from strength to strength.

  • this has to be in the top ten greatest songs in Prog history. Simply smashing!

  • with sinclair on bass and vocals camel sounds like a caravan LOL

  • I bought Rain Dances album in 1977 or 78. Loved it then, love it now. Camel's music just shows that a thing of beauty lasts forever. While the "music industry" continues to pump out a highly degraded form of popular music to an ignorant generation, we can look back at a period when true art was appreciated. Long live Camel!

  • Just have to agree - as others have said what an under rated band, and Andy - well surely must rate amongst the best ever guitarists!

  • Hey, I think you would appreciate Tool.

  • Exactly, I remmeber getting into an argument with a youngster who insulted the music back in the early 60's, 70s saying that none of the great metal bands today, or some of the music the dude listens to , never got their roots of rock or theory influences back then by the bands before, he was pure ignorant.

  • lol stupid kid. Of course bands from that era are inspiring musicians to this day. You can see it in Tool's music, they are fans of Camel, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin.

All you have to do is listen to hear the influence

  • Great Song!

    i love camel

  • its too bad they dont still make music

  • Camel is still making music. The reason it's been quiet for a while is that Andy Latimer is in the hospital.

  • they havent been making music for a few years .. the last things they did were just redoing songs they had already made then latimer went into the hospital and has been there since at least mid 07.. but what i really meant is that its a shame they arent making new material .. they tried a few times but things keep going badly. im just curious to see what their music would sound like now after having gone through so much

  • Camel is one of my favorite bands and Andrew Latimer is one of my favourite guitar players. His solos have this quiet warmth thats almost impossible to find in this days, a crying shame you can't find musicians like this!!! Camel must be one of the most underrated bands I've ever seen!!!!

  • Camel are the #1 undiscovered rock band of all time... what a waste! (BUT all the better for the rest of us I guess!) - Keep it coming guys, and hope Andy recovers soon.

  • This was the lineup I saw at Southampton Gaumont - I think the best lineup; Sinclair and Collins added a lot to the complex rhythms of the compositions. Also saw them at the King's Theatre Southsea. That was the Nude tour, if I remeber correctly. Thanks BBC Sight and Sound in Concert for introducing me to Camel

  • The content makes up for the quality. Awesome!

  • This was recorded in 1977 in Hammersmith Odeon.

I have the full concert but on audio, no video unfortunatly.

    Anyways, Camel rules :)

  • yup saw them in San Jose too. Awsom awsom concert

  • not sure where this was recorded, but i saw these guys in 1977 on what i beleive to be the Raindances tour in San Jose at the Center for Performing Arts.........I still have an extra album that has never been opened......dont think it will be!!!

  • there has to be someone that knows the answer.

  • where is the cut "you make me smile"

  • Camel destroys all jazzy rockers!!!

  • I can see how Opeth was inspired by Camel from this.

  • Brilliant! Great to see them on video! I never actually saw Camel live, but had a few LPs back in the day. Few bands have ever tried (or, perhaps, been able?) to play in canon like at the end of unevensong - it really works a treat.

  • Yes, it's R. Sinclair. By the way, when, approximately was it recorded? in 1977???

  • hey, that's Richard Sinclair if I'm not mistaken. His voice goes great with their sound.

  • Hey I´m not sure, its sinclair the man who song and play bass on Caravan?

  • I´m agree with anyone that thinks rock music is in crisis, I mean the best music hardly make success, but the garbage. Real musicians has been replaced with dj´s, almost nobody composes their own material, we are living in the remix kingdom, where "copy and paste" rules the world. Camel is so far one of the greatest bands of 70´s, a rock music landmark (not in the style "how fast can i play") that is still making new fans worldwide. God save Camel!!!!

  • @redlandscape I'm agree to!

  • i smoked a lot of pot to this song lol

  • *smokes a spliff*

    whoa........

  • How many bands of today have talent like this? None! All the best and wishes to Andy, God bless.

  • Very few, these days bands like to detune their guitars or tune so low because none can sing properly.Music is at it's lowest ebb in years.Sad but true!

  • there are still a lot of very very good bands today but the truth is that 95% of todays population only likes garbage. So it requires a lot more effort and luck to find them ^^

  • I agree, there are still dozens of fantastic bands and musicians out there, unfortunately, the get no commercial play so the youth today is stuck listening to horrible generic and copycat musicians with very limited talent

  • My thoughts and prayers are with Andy. An incredible man such as Andy should always be here with us.

  • Andy´s going under surgery as I write this post. Hope everything goes for the best and even if he never plays again, just being around makes all the difference.

  • Brilliant, absolutely marvellous! Richard's vocals leave me in a state of catharsis, no less. Oh, and Latimer's charisma is another point - what very gentle man indeed (as it was once pointed) Love him so much.

  • to unreated this band, focus to,

in my opinion i prefere to listen this stuff than jethro, yes or elp,

    i just love this

  • Amen!

  • agreed, although all those bands to have some great stuff, ELP definately was overrated in comparison to Camel

  • I totally agree,I used to be a ELP's fan but after this not anymore xD

  • Wrong. These guys are competent musicians but not genius prodigies like Emerson. If you study music you will realize the different level of complexity.

  • I do study music

  • boh

  • Sinclair's bass is woefully undermixed, but Latimer's guitar riff at the end (both live and studio versions) is transcendent.

  • the best progresive band of all times

  • Sucess is not the word for Camel, Quality and Class are.

  • I just love this song, still one of my favorites, tks for the videos, I never thought i could see them

  • this song is a Masterpiece.

  • great clip love camel seen them many times fanatstic

I played with Canned heat in May 2007 and they were awesome. I played flute on going up the country, fanatstic...leave a comment on my you tube or website please check the video tab

  • Outstanding! Thanks.

  • Mel Collins on sax helped a lot at this song.

  • Camel lives on, you know. They have been producing albums for like 3 decades! Treat yourselves and buy some...lots out there new and used. I just replaced my old vinyl with cds andpicked up new ones, I plan on getting the whole catalog. Camel has a style that is as NOW as it was THEN!

  • when i hear camel i think about the 70's and some of the great music back then. They never disappointed me.And their album covers were great!

  • Camel is the KINGS of music

  • I second this

  • pink floyd ibnedir kardeşim bu böyle biline.

bu alemde camel pink floydu sikre.

  • There must only be 2 reasons why this guys did'nt got more famous: Focusing TO much on their music live (playing on small areas, without much light and stuff), and BAD LUCK! Long live Camel, one of the greatest bands ever! I wish I lived on the 70's so I could se all the good music there and then, but I'm only 14 : (

  • Richard and Andrew has the perfect voices together ! And Andy (Ward) is also so good with Richard. But to bad Ferguson was kicked out :/ I liked how they were maned from 1971 to 1976 ! Ofcourse Rain Dances is a good album to, but a little to much punky, I think! Latimer has allways made, and played music with feelings, I like that! I've made a small tribute to Camel, through the song Chord Change !

  • 1977 was the turning point in music!? Sex Pistols, the Clash and so on. In my opinion this video proves that good playing on instruments still sounds much better.

  • Such great music from the old days. They don't make it like this no more! Thanks for the video!

  • lol...oh god, it has been ages since i did not hear this one. :))) thanks thanks

  • hum...excuse me...where are the other videos ?
