Yes. This is spot on. Micheal Shermer is the man. Darwin's ideas about ecosystems and competition explain anything involving living things. You gotta work with nature. Idealism seems noble, but it's really kind of childish. It seems like a bit of overeach in the Skeptic community's moving toward libertarian politicization of itself, but not really. It's all ecosystems.
Don,t get me wrong. I,m not saying it was alien craft. It probably was military craft. It,s just that Shermer tries to spoon feed the militarys claim of FLARES and does it with that typical cocky smile.
have you ever seen a plane dropped flare?....yeah a flare you shoot from a gun archs and falls...its ment to....
These flares generally have some kind of chute or drag...its night...cant see well. Your flying to a position marked with flares....if those flares fall as rapidly as everyone thinks then the position will be WAY off in a matter of seconds...they look static because of the distants...there really high up and far away...
To continue: Along comes Michael Shermer who said that that the military(the sightings were near a military base) had dropped flares, so that explains the lights that people seen. Michael; since whe n do flares stay suspended in the sky and shoot up in a V formation? He thinks people are so stupid.
For the most part- I agree with Shermer most of the time. However, I recently seen a program about a UFO sighting over Arizona where there were many images of it caught on videotape. They were suspended lights in the sky. One women had on tape the same lights shooting up in a V formation. Her tape was sent to a man who debunked many UFO videos. This guy had no answer to what they were.
The military was dropping flares by my house one night, and they stayed in the sky for a LOOOONG time. I thought it was a bunch of UFO's until I learned otherwise.

Shermer and James Randi still are a very valuable asset to the public. It's just that sometimes Occum's Razor may not explain everything.

Who thinks Occam's (did you misspell it that way intentionally?) Razor explains anything? It's just a principle of reason, not an explanation.

Only allowing praise of Shermer to be shown. Hypocrites.

The flares that the military uses aren't the same thing you can get at the hardware store.
