i got a jag in my tank he runs it prob because hes the biggest 1 in my tank but im actully getting a red devil today i hope he doesnt get killed i got a jag, jack dempsy, oscar, pacu,jewl fish, 2 convicts, a crayfish and something im not 2 sure of but i like him

Another thing I've picked up on, is that a tanks order of dominance varies between cleanings. I have a badass male Black Belt, and female Jag. At first, the BB owned. Took him out for a little while, and the Jag took had him by the balls. lol Nothing's set-in-stone with cichlids. Remove the problem fish for a while (3 days it so), and the problem is likely solved.

Jack Dempseys (my favorite) tend to fear fish with bright coloring, I've come to notice. Oddly enough, I had a JD and a RD, and the JD would have the RD doing laps in my tank. lol There simply was no competing with him. And they BOTH males! Not all RD's are tough. Same for any other species of cichlid.

@PaNdeM0niuM They always team up against her. She is the killer among the fish, so if she can dominate a fish she will go for the kill. The others live with each other quite well. I think she needs to be contained becuase when one of the fish are out of the tank. The midas goes crazy and start fighting.

red devils = pound for pound champs. i have two males that destroy ANY fish ANY size. Ive raised all species but from my observations red devils were most aggressive & were always in control of my tanks

@Motivemoney23 you must have never had a dovii. Have you ever had a dovii, a trimac, motaguense, umbee? Midas are one of the most aggressive aquarium cichlids, but they're no match for a dovii.

Those are some nice specimens for sure!!! Keep an eye on them, and I advise you to setup another tank, like in your bedroom perhaps, so that you can separate them if need be..

@xxproimage you jag wont whip my chancho or my midas. My chancho killed a 11" jag and it is only 7" long I have a recent video of the chancho. My Femaile Midas also puts pressure on the Male 13" jag. I never had a super tough Jag. I still like them though

red devil will destroy almost anything the same size as it, even slightly larger in this case, my RD out competed my jag of the same 3 inch size, within a few months the RD was twice its size and the jag had to hide in a log or die....

@Bowsersshell It is an African Buttikoferi. I have one, and its very mean. It's killed every cichlid (over time) I've tried to add to my tank.  Very smart though! Also reacts to humans, sorta like a Red Devil but not as intense as that.

i've only had a couple of each of these species. my personal experience is that the red devil is far more aggressive than a jaguar. i've had 2 jags, they were both pretty shy. The red devils to be kind were nothing short of psychotic lol
