NO hes not, Jimmie is a 5-time Chase Champion. Under the old format he would only have 2: 2006 & 2009. Jeff Gordon got robbed when chase happen taken away 2004 & 2007 titles from him. The Top Three greatest drivers of all time are Petty, Earnhardt, & Gordon....period.
jimmie is talent wise. todays era is harder than the old much, as you can tell there are 20 cars that can win a championship instead of 5-8. those 200 wins of petty's, are not even that significant considerin the fact he only has 70 something wit an actual set nascar schedule, and sintead of racing 3-6 times a week. earnhardt was great, but was more popular and impacted the sport cuz he connected with the fans. johnson is talent wise, but beacuase he isnt poluar with them, they wont consider it.

It is hard to measure how great one person is when NASCAR really is a team sport. I think it can be easily said that Hendrick Motor Sports happens to be the Best Nascar Company of all time... they have a collection of the best drivers and team members. That is why Hendrick almost had the top three places in the points at the end... However, I really do think that no matter what your thoughts are on Jimmie, he should be applauded for winning 4 championships in a row.
Jimmie is NOT one of the best nascar drivers.. Dale Earnhardt Senior is the best nascar DRIVER! Jimmie Johnson's Crew Chief and Pit crew is one of the best though I think..

@666jewkid He only competed in two seasons under the old system so you can't necessarily say he wouldn't have won under it.
