  • Fear the lobster

  • Welcome to TFTD.

  • is this the water units of Xcom?

  • On Lobstermen, gauss weapons acts like really really slow stun guns :D

  • Fission Mailed.

  • i have a version of tftd that mans are walking like "flash" and shots are very fast.you feel like in film of "lethal weapon" :D this is turtle version.

  • One of the best games ever made.

  • Oh man, these happen to be the highest quality releases yet! The actual canadian govt entirely unclassified 3 hundred reports! They are on ufosecretXnet (replace X with . )

  • right now im lping UFO:ET, already over 50 parts xD, if you like sub me if not sorry to bother yas. just click my name to get to my channel with the playlist.

and i think we've all had this happen in TFTD, thats why you lift off without leaving the drop ship ;)

  • @3dwardXP

    UGO is a dirty RTS!

  • @rebelanarch

    i mean UFO: Aftermath

  • one of the greatest I've ever played!

  • i love this game , seing this video bring back memories :)

  • lol 100 TUs

  • @ebbencs2 where is the problem? In the end of UFO: Enemy Unknown, almost every squad member has 100 TUs, or more. So, if they are imported to TFTD, they have the same stats :)

  • @MickTheMage TFTD limits TU at 80, if you're lucky you can get 81 as well, normaly.. :)

But yeah the max stat is 255..

  • @MickTheMage

true that. they retcon-ed it in the "notebook" telling you that the vets in the previous game got rusty after the first game , after blasting up mars.

  • looks abit like the first two fallout games ! :O

  • cheated stats, gauss for lobstermans.

i'll bet you didn't beat the game yet ;)

  • @CanisMajor84

rofl all the characters names were changed to stargatesg1 names.

  • Gauss weapons SUCK!

    Not up for discussion.

  • not in the beginning they rock, but come mid game they suck balls...dam lobstermen!

  • this game was the best

in my top 3 for sure with

Syndicate . and Dune 2. I guess top 5 with Police quest 3 and open season...

  • this game is wicked! but i think its one of the best games around. almost everyone i know who played this game had nightmares! what demonic powers forged this game, i wonder.

  • Shh... He has those veterans in a ship against lobster-man with gauss and aqua plastics??

Forget about gauss! 'Tis no laser tech from the original. I've finished the game without even discovering "gauss technology". No, really, even sonic pistols are better and it's possible to have them by the end of Feb. After that you're free to research armor, med. kits etc.

By the way... The easiest way to kill a lobster is a hit of heavy thermal lance (it's quite unusual for them to survive a first hit)

  • Kill ze aliens !!!

  • Also, -2 cookies for cheating with aquanaut stats.

  • Lobster man eat gauss ammo like no tomorrow. That mission was suicidal at best. On the terror mission featuring lobster man in boats with those weapons and armor forget it. You dont have a chance.

  • I once did a port terror site and by the end of the mission nobody had absolutely any ammo left. I killed the last 3 lobstermen with granades I looted from the field. A ship mission is a suicide.

  • When shooting at an alien in half darkness, throw a light in, otherwise your aim is really brought down in percentages, as shown here.

  • TFTD - From sadists, to masochists. This game is sick.

  • Lobsterman behind the create? Shoot the crate first!!!!

  • I saw that grenade at about 3:00 coming ;) .

  • Twice I played this game for a month, on superhuman, massive effort ... only for that research bug to make it impossible to finish the game.

    FUCK MICROPROSE

  • There's a fix for the Research bug - look for Mok's patch on google....!

  • I saw that grenade coming. Also, I like how everyone has 99-100 stats and they stil, get eaten alive. I remember fighting lobstermen the first time I saw them, I only had the crappy starting rifles. Use sonic blaster rifles, they're the best thing against them, that and melee weapons methinks.

  • Lobsters are resistant to sonic weapons. Heave Thermal Lance FTW! :-)

  • omg i hate lobstermen!. Shok launchers on every Triton after the lobsters start to show. a 'Grey' is what the UFO community name a species of aliens seen for many years.

If you understand UFO information, or have read Lovecraft, the game will make far more sense.

  • fighting lobstermen with gauss is a pain in the ass. if i encountered lobstermen early in the game i either used this close-combat-stunning weapon and/or got the hell out of there ^^

  • If you land on a boat mission., land, shoot one alien, get back in the craft and fly off.. Take the minor score hit, DO NOT DO SHIPPING missions.

a Grey will hide behind a refrigerator till turn 300.. EVERYTIME

  • What is "Grey"? I remember I sometimes couldn't finish boat missions. Is it a bug of some sort?

  • It's not a bug, the developers simply programmed the most ridiculous hiding spots ever.

  • yeah and on 'superhuman' level the missions come every 5 minutes, it gets really tedious trying to gun down 3 floors of scattered, hiding lobstermen on 2 stage boat missions that last forever...

  • the game costs $2.50 on the Steam Network,, eat it up.. works on XP and Vista. I bought the whole 5 pack x-com series for 20 bucks..

  • Weak ass disembarking, where are the flares?

Also how do you change the names?

  • You can give your aquanauts new names by going into the "Aquanauts" menu at base, selecting an aquanaut, then clicking on their name.

  • you cant get your sonic oscillator cos you forgot to save a sonic pistol and sonic clip to research.. you sold it right! When you were broke after like your 3rd raid.. then they stopped appearing? yeaaaaaa

  • The research tree in this game was designed differently than that of the first. In UFO / X-Com you can research any plasma weapon upon retrieval, but in TFTD, the technology "learned" in the simpler weapons helps you unlock the secrets of the more advanced ones.

  • Hehe I have this game on my good old PlayStation :)

  • Yea, this game kicks alien ass ;)

  • I downloaded this game from a friends BBS in 1995. haha. I love this game.

  • this game is great! but the player is amateur... very poor show. poor equipment, poor tactics

  • nice vid!

after 7 years playing, the games not too hard now,,

    1) Dont do night missions.. move out 3 of your greenest crew first, then hunt the UFO.

    2) Manufacture Craft PWT cannons to sell for good profits.

    3) have heaps of fun and get to know your marines names who you like!

  • This game is soo fuckin Hard.(Sometimes imbalanced)but its still great.

  • Heh Love the name you gave them :) too bad they had to abort :)

  • Terrific game :)

You could have escaped with one less casualty. Samuel hand (the rightmost of your fallen aquanauts) was left for dead when you evacuated. You could have used the medikit on him to bring him back to life, since he was unconscious.

  • Or he could've pick his body as item and carry him to ship.. much more stylish escape :D

  • lobsters are practically invulnerable to gauss.

  • That is exactly why I always research the Sonic type weapons ASAP. Especially the Sonic Cannon.

  • Aha! But not as much with Scott's X-ComUtil patch!

  • omg someone remake this game with updated graphics please :(

  • Dude you got pwned bad... Nevermind... Happened to me too sometimes.. :D

  • there used to be another type of terror mission which was on a boat/ferry which i think i preferred, or didn't prefer i forget which. If u saved b4 u landed and then quit after landing if u reloaded the terror mission might have changed to the other 1. Hated it wen civilians standing in the doorway blocking ur path. does anyone remember sum jelly like creature with a machine gun. i only ever saw it once although i already had the autopsy info on it from obviously finding sum remains. Propa weird

  • When you spot an alien and you see that grey icon on the left you can click on it and it will show you where the alien is you don't have to open up the map for it.

  • And to think, you only knocked those lobstermen unconsious.

I used to carry freeze rods and lots of hand grenades. Early in the game, my only chances of actually killing those damn creatures was by dropping primed grenades on them while they were stunned.

  • FYI Lobstermen are veeeeeeeery resistant to gauss...

  • Even with the SONIC RIFLE, there's no guarantee you'll kill a Lobsterman with one shot. The Sonic Cannon is better for that. Or use the Thermal Shok Launcher.

  • pulsers weren't a bad option either, if I recall correctly

  • Actually, you need two or even three pulsers to take them down... :(

  • ...but in the player's defense: taking on such a mission is a must, otherwise he will be penalized with -1000 points for ignoring a terror site. Go to the site and dust off, if you are early in the game and face lobstermen and bio-drones. But, lobstermen generally (or never) don't use M.C attacks which is good in early game when you don't know the M.C strenght - it's the bio-drones, who always team up with the lobstermen, that pose the real threat in a terror mission.

  • HTH rocks! My "ultimate" combo is sonic pistol (0-160, med 80 dmg) and thermic lance (0-220, med 110 dmg). A good match between fire rate and damage! Excellent in colony assaults (2nd level) also since lobstermen take 200% dmg from HTH. Drawbacks: you have to manufacture the stuff since aliens don't use thermic lances at all or sonic pistols later in the game.

Early on, give a thermal tazer to each soldier. Stuns lobstermen easy and don't activate the self destruction device on bio-drones.

  • That was one screwed up mission. I played ufo defense (or enemy unknown) but never tried this one.

  • I love the cheats you got on.

  • everytime i watch this video it makes me laugh how unforgiving the game really is. i save often, i know i suck. but yea you need ion if you gonna try gauss on em, really its still suicidal especially in these kinds of missions.

  • More max TUs than energy? 100 health?! :D

  • I hate these ship terror missions...

  • ufo le da mil vueltas a su este... esta lleno de fallos

  • Thanks for the laughs man! Holy hell dude you didn't stand a chance might as well throw insults at em with such guns.....

  • Jesus. You're using gauss rifles against Lobstermen? Gonna be a long night.

  • wow your terrible

first of all aqua plastics is a waste of money save up for ion armor.

second u need to resarch sonic cannon, get more scientists, labs, living quarters. sell all your uneeded crap for money and ur set to go

  • Yo, When ever you're aquanauts can 'see' an enemy you dont need to use the map to find them. If you click on the "1" at the bottom right hand corner it will move the screen directly to where the enemy is... if they can see more than one ememy there will be a "1" and "2" there etc

  • this game looks preaty interesting, does any one know where i can get it at.

  • I think, TFTD is available on Steam.

  • Hey you named your team after stargate SG 1 didn't you? Haha

  • He should have chose the stargate atlantis team for water missions xD Plus for colonel O'neil the orginal xcom with have been best

lol he was an able seaman

  • he either used a solder editor to get the 100 health or he just doesn't know how to play, and also if you were THAT far and not gotten at least ion armor then you never should been only taking six people on there!

  • Nah, it wasn't soldier editor. It was Squad from end of UFO:Enemy Unknown converted to TFTD. With utility called cryo...something :) I finished TFTD before cca 5 times, but now with my "old" squad i was thinking i can made it. Obviously not :)

  • gauss rifles, night time, boat, lobstermen, aqua plastic armor, 6 soldiers, i could tell right then you were screwed. how did you get your players health to 100? i couldn't get mine past 61.

  • u have to learn how to play. u could have won this battle.

  • Coward! :D

  • ouch, game is very unforgiving at times.. i cheat and save every couple turns but i still have fun.

  • Any kind of melee weapon works super good against Lobster Men provided you can get close enough without kitting killed.

  • <3 I love this game! - the Music is fucking awesome!
