The season openings are always so freakin' cool. Season 1 had Jack waking up in the jungle and runninf to the beach saving everyone, season 2 had Desmond going about his morning and revealing that to be in the hatch, season 3 had this surprising turn of events, season 4 revealed who got off the island, and season 5 revealed that part of the story is going totake place in the past. I cannot wait for season 6's surprise opening.

Having seen the first 8 episodes of season 5, this scene makes a lot more sense. Ben's cold reaction (inspite the fact that he's a cold fish in general) and why he (and the rest of them) didn't seem surprised at all. Normally one would be shocked and horrified seeing a plane break in two and crash. Great scene by the way and thank you so much for posting it :-)

Also I love the way the writers of this show use music to enhance the emotions felt. The fact that Juliet is listening to the classic 'Downtown' by Petuala Clark which is all about being free to go where you want and do what you want. This in contrast with the fact that she cannot ever leave the island, go where she wants and see her family is just a huge dramatic irony. Genius.

What I love about this opening is not only the shocking aspect but if you have already seen 'One Of Us' we really begin to empathise with Juliet. Even though she is an ''other'' she is still just as human as any of the other characters. Think about it, if Kate was in Juliet's position and we had not seen her point of view, we would think she is bad. It's all because the producers have put a negative spin on the others up until this point.

That's what I thought at the beginning, but if you begin to understand her character, you'll notice that she's always hiding her emotions behind that smile. Only seldom (like in this scene, being alone) a glimpse of her self behind the mask can be seen.
