I may not be gay or anything like that (not that I have a problem with it). I just like the story line because it can be generalised for a lot of situations young people go through. And the real issue is for that young person to know that they are accepted no matter what, without their parents judging them. That is why I have to give credit to Holden. He may not like it but he still shows his son that he loves him no matter what. Lily on the other hand is a different matter.

Jade just sucks SOOOO bad. Not only does she get in the middle of other people's business, she drops bombshells of information that are never hers to tell. I can't wait until someone inevitably murders her on the show.

I love that Holden has accepted reality and he knows that Luke needs their support and love, but it absolutely breaks my heart when Luke says that his mom hates him, and Lily never corrects him. I know she's in shock but she should have jumped in right at that moment and said that she loved him no matter what. Lily needs to mourn the loss of what she thought Luke's life would be so that she can move on to accept and enjoy what Luke's life can and will be.
Every time i watch this part of the story line (and I have watched it over and overand over), I burn with anger. Here Luke, in his most honest self, he shares his inner most self with his family, and Lily rejects his every move to be up front. I was in my late thirties when I decided to come out to my family and my children. The only response I can remember was from my oldest brother who told me he was sorry I had to do this alone . My wife had died some years before.
Wow, your other family members didn't support you? I know that If I was to ever tell my family strait up "I'm gay" that they would except me right away. And I am so lucky to know I have that support.
See. I love this storyline and everything, but with Lilly saying "You're too young to know yet," it does get on my nerves a little. I am really sorry if this offends anyone but if you came out to your parents and said, "'I'm straight," they would not bat and eyelid!
They would say, "Of course, we know you are!", not "No no, you're too young to know." I understand that it is a shock and all, but jeez. I just feel so sorry for Luke! My mum was a bit like that, but I think she accept me now.
god see this is why i hate this part. jade is a total villain and you think the problem will go away once luke gets the courage to come out, because his family loves him so much either way. but noooo, lily has to react badly like this, which is very old fashioned for mothers today.
For me, my parents both went silent and as Luke said here...you could see the "disappointment" in their faces... but thankfully for me, and also for Luke, everything is great now.
I obviously don't know how long it's been since you told your mom, maybe she just needs more time to come to terms with it. Also, I'd got my own place by the time I told my parents, so we weren't "in each other's pockets" which gave us the space that I think we all needed to get used to the "new" situation. I hope that, in time, everything works out for you :D

I love how honest they let Van be with his character. They actually didn't make it Soapy at all (until Damien comes and he throws lily down the stairs) but... for the coming out, they gave it it's time, they gave the honesty, the emotion on both sides, parents and child. It's wonderful and refreshing to see something like this get the attention it deserves
I completely expected Holden to be the one to react the way Lily did. I think it would be the hardest on the father to find out if his own son was gay, just as I think that it would be hard on a mother to find out that her daugher is a lesbian. Its disgracing that there are families out there who find out this kind of stuff about relatives and make them feel worthless, but they dont realize that the hardest thing is the reaction, let alone coming out.
Aww I love Holden!!! As much as Lilly sucks in this scene, the actress who plays her does a great job. And Van well he is freaking amazing, I love Luke!!!!

I admit that she doesn't do the right thing and hug Luke and tell him that she still loves him, but when you're not expecting something like this, you don't lead with the right reaction.

yes! he reacts really really great! ok he had some time to acclimate to it! but nevertheless, how he keeps telling over and over again that Luke is his son and that he'll love him whatsoever! not that there was a reason not to, but he takes away Luke's fear that he'd hate him. and I love him for that! and I love every family member or friend of any gay person in the world who shows a similar reaction! - Ok - now I am a little corny :)

They don't show them in bed. They just show them in Luke's room kissing and then they flash to them coming out of Luke's bathroom. But it's Part 253 of LukeVanFan's YouTube channel. I'm sure it's uploaded here too I just don't know what Part it is.

I love that Holden has accepted reality and he knows that Luke needs their support and love, but it absolutely breaks my heart when Luke says that his mom hates him, and Lily never corrects him. I know she's in shock but she should have jumped in right at that moment and said that she loved him no matter what. Lily needs to mourn the loss of what she thought Luke's life would be so that she can move on to accept and enjoy what Luke's life can and will be.

Every time i watch this part of the story line (and I have watched it over and overand over), I burn with anger. Here Luke, in his most honest self, he shares his inner most self with his family, and Lily rejects his every move to be up front. I was in my late thirties when I decided to come out to my family and my children. The only response I can remember was from my oldest brother who told me he was sorry I had to do this alone . My wife had died some years before.

See. I love this storyline and everything, but with Lilly saying "You're too young to know yet," it does get on my nerves a little. I am really sorry if this offends anyone but if you came out to your parents and said, "'I'm straight," they would not bat and eyelid!
They would say, "Of course, we know you are!", not "No no, you're too young to know." I understand that it is a shock and all, but jeez. I just feel so sorry for Luke! My mum was a bit like that, but I think she accept me now.

I obviously don't know how long it's been since you told your mom, maybe she just needs more time to come to terms with it. Also, I'd got my own place by the time I told my parents, so we weren't "in each other's pockets" which gave us the space that I think we all needed to get used to the "new" situation. I hope that, in time, everything works out for you :D

I love how honest they let Van be with his character. They actually didn't make it Soapy at all (until Damien comes and he throws lily down the stairs) but... for the coming out, they gave it it's time, they gave the honesty, the emotion on both sides, parents and child. It's wonderful and refreshing to see something like this get the attention it deserves

I completely expected Holden to be the one to react the way Lily did. I think it would be the hardest on the father to find out if his own son was gay, just as I think that it would be hard on a mother to find out that her daugher is a lesbian. Its disgracing that there are families out there who find out this kind of stuff about relatives and make them feel worthless, but they dont realize that the hardest thing is the reaction, let alone coming out.

It's more that she's surprised than homophobia - to her this is right out of left field. Unlike Holden, she hasn't seen the signs. She hasn't had the opportunity to get her mind around it. I admit that she doesn't do the right thing and hug Luke and tell him that she still loves him, but when you're not expecting something like this, you don't lead with the right reaction.

I agree, it's weird, I don't get why it gets put in the same category. I have a "T" friend who gets really pissed whenever it's suggested that being trans is about sexual orientation.
