i am a beginner at keyboarding and i just wanted to know like how you make everything sound so complete, like when you fill it in like is it something that is practiced or is it you just free styling??? Like do studying raags make you understand which notes you can play and which you cant??? or does that just come from practice???? What do you recommend to a beginner like me???

I also play keyboard, well not as good as Mahroof Jan but I think I can answer your question. When you fill in, you really need to know the Raags, filling in requires that you use the Raags keys only to fill in, how is it going to sound? well that part you need to practice before and see how you can use different keys and notes to sound better. but if you just use the raags keys then at least you are not going to sound off the melody. hope this helps.

He still was in the raag for the majority of the alaab and going off-raag is a common thing in ghazal type songs especially during the naghmas.

@MusaferBedil i agree with you...its nice but that piece at 0:54 does throw it off a little because it interrupts the mood of the song. and playboy...you can make the raag mishra but only if it compliments or accents the main raag..which that part does not.
