  • Hey, what are the samples he uses in this video?

  • Almost finished making my own MIDI controller! :D So exited.

  • @HeyLookItsASpah I just stated can you plz help me (message me plz) Actually i will XD

  • Where can I get your watch?

  • @cheezcola well its a swatch watch, but i got it a while ago. It doesn't work anymore but if you want it send me a message i'll see what i can do :)

  • How much was this to make? I'm pretty new to the mixing scene but am trying to learn all that i can.

  • and these are just some effects and uhhhhhhh *YEEEEEEEEEEEHAWWWWWWWWWW*!!!!

  • now they make a midi fighter pro a little like that, its called the cue master.

  • yea man! :D

  • Yah, i'm actually planning on doing a follow up. I'll post it as a response to this video when its finished. There's a good writup on this box too though on DJ Tech Tools. Search "A New Arcade Button Controlller Is Born" and you'll find it.

  • lo q es estar al pedo!

  • where'd you find those buttons? they're pretty funky

  • @YOKappaKappa I got them from Lizard Lick online. I think they're the Sanwa 24mm arcade buttons. Really good for fast button mashing.

  • one last question. So when I split the cable for my linear pots i need to use two wires that are the 5 volt and one that is ground, then for arcade buttons i use another port and cable and I only need to attach one ground and one 5 volt?

  • @3asyPimpin123, no you don't need two 5 volt wires for pots, you still just use one ground and one 5 volt. you just have to put them on two of the three little prongs on the pot and that will decide whether the pot goes from high to low when you turn it, or low to high. so you could pick the two wrong prongs on the pot and it would be backwards. just trial and error.

  • nice beat man mix it up

  • Very good groove bro!

  • Good vibeeees!

  • Just curious... why did you go with potentiometers instead of encoders? Im also building one but I've been hesitant to use pots because they dont seem to last as long

  • @SirMixAlotChannel The UMC 32 only supports pots. But I like them anyway since I don't need to look at them to know what the value is, much better for performing live I think.

  • Did you use a IDC ribbon cable to connect your slide pots and buttons? if so how did you? or what did you use to wire it all together

  • @3asyPimpin123 The UMC32 comes with four IDC ribbon cables that connect directly to the board. you have to split the cables into individual wires then connect them to pots and buttons. I think each lead coming from the ribbon cable is the voltage, and then there's one more wire that is the ground

  • @grierdill Thank you, for the linear slide pots where would the output come from?

  • cool controller,

i got a umc32 and i cant get my pots to work, my digital switches work though. just wondering if you had any advice? i cant figure it out

  • cool controller,

  • @zbitterman my only thought would be to check the DIP switches and make sure you're putting the pots where they are assigned. And try different combinations of soldering to the right 2 spots on the pot, you might not be connecting one to the ground?

  • you´re the Modern Frankeinstein xD, you combine the Guitar Hero guitar + drums + dj Hero turntable n a arcade controller, very cool!!!

  • Excellent work man im impressed ! im looking into building one my self, any chance you can compile a parts list of what you bought, i was looking at the post on that controllerism site.. do you know if a joystick or the light up buttons will work ?

  • tenderoni

  • damn... that is quite possibly one of the coolest things ive ever seen

  • @thesimelon Haha, yah. Was just using it to experiment chopping up some beats. Nowadays its all original baby...

  • hi I'm from Brazil and would like to know how you did that controller as you ve been doing a lecture or a video tutorial

  • Would it work with Reason 4 or any other program other than Ableton?

  • yah, it shows up as any normal midi controller

  • Hey u seem to be a good responder so I just wanted to ask, how to you get clips to play instantaneously and, somehow, in time when using Live. when I press to start a clip it waits until the next bar before it starts. U get what I mean?

  • super simple. up top, near the play pause stop buttons, you'll see something that says "1 bar". that is the timing that your clips will trigger to. So just set that to 1/16 and then they will trigger much faster, but still in sync with the beat

  • where did you get your sliders???? i have been looking for a while and have yet to find many (unless they are cross-faders / x-faders) and how much were they?

  • i got them from Mouser online, they are Bourns 10k slide potentiometers. the mouser number is 652-PTS60-02L-103B2

and they are REALLY nice, but very deep, that's why the box is so thick

  • Great controller :) what fx you have on the last knob?

  • I think that's just like a low pass filter, or maybe a phaser?

  • @grierdill no low pass filter is first knob that one what I am talking about - you are using it at 2:54

  • aaah, i think that is some crazy combination of distortion effects, like mostly vinyl distortion and some overdrive

  • total it cost about $200.

  • How much did this cost you?

  • the only sad thing for me is that a midi interface costs like 60 bux... im doing a similar project like this rite now, but not so great... but it will be like 30 usd.

  • nice song by the way !

    sounds like Ddamage

  • hello, good work for your midi controler. it is possible that you prepare us a quite detailed tutorial?? I will want to doing one of the same style. thank you

  • I am in the process of building the arcade box 2.0, so when i start putting that together, i will go over the process from beginning to end. I would suggest going to the Hale Micro site and reading on the forums and asking a lot of questions.

  • if I had that... I would never leave my room... I rarely do anyway!

I don't have anything like this... the only musical stuff I have is a guitar... I want this though... its awesome!

  • awesome stuff!! and nice project u have back there with Great Tiger!! Congrats & cheers from Portugal

  • would there be any way to make it more compact?

  • yes, definitely. The faders I used were very deep, but if you got more compact ones, and got the low profile buttons, you could make it much thinner.

  • dude thats wicked , i was recently thinking of buying a Akai ableton controller it doesnt basiclly that but alot ore im sure uve heard of it , Could u possibley email me how to make one ??

    Thanks dude

    awsome

  • Well it's controlling ableton live so you can make it control whatever samples you want

  • ah man thats unreal hands on kicks ass were did you get that i want one and does it controll any samples like trance samples ect...

  • That kicks ass

  • rockin

  • Where did you get those faders?

  • i got them from mouser electronics online. they are bourns Slide Potentiometers 10Kohms Travel=60mm Dual Gang

  • haha! nice buddy!
