Feeding live, while not necessarily 'wrong' - sometimes needed to induce feeding - is certainly something that anyone with a shred of respect for animals would embrace without question.
The whole debate is a matter of morale principle - do you believe it more humane to let something suffer until it dies (naturally), or to end its life without pain?
these are 2 lizards... not trained fighters... the ackie is a pet, so he bought a lizard to feed it, the pet is fed to live not to fight and maybe survive, theres a BIG diffrence between this and dog fighting
hes right, this is not a beardie, they may be somwhat small BUT THEY ARE ACTIVE!. Some lizards twice that size can do fine in a 50 gallon, these guys like more. I may be getting one soon, and am putting it in a 150 gallon custom vivarium

I love lizards but feeding yours helpless anoles and from the looks a greenies thats scared senseless it just plain sick. How would you like it to have your neck in vice-grips and being shook around, just knowing there is not a single thing you can do to avoid death. Yes it maybe natural for your big lizard to eat smaller lizards but thats in the wild were the little guys at the very least have a chance of getting away to live another day and not trapped in some cage.
canned cat and dog food i find works wonders for feeding my savannah. its inexpensive and my big boy doesnt have to fight with his food. Therefore hes extremely docile. Canned tuna, ground beef, beef liver, practically any meat that i give mr walker, he devours. He does still get a mouse or rat or hamster or anole, or whatever little animal i come across, he eats, like on a once a month basis. im not against live feedings i just prefer to not deal with any risks of my animal gettin injurred

Its quite fun how people that comment this and say that its not natural for an ackie to eat this and that cause they arnt from the same region... Some of the comments are ridiculous; but there is a point to be had from these videos.
Feeding live, while not necessarily 'wrong' - sometimes needed to induce feeding - is certainly something that anyone with a shred of respect for animals would embrace without question.
The whole debate is a matter of morale principle - do you believe it more humane to let something suffer until it dies (naturally), or to end its life without pain?
Personally, Im for the latter.

hes right, this is not a beardie, they may be somwhat small BUT THEY ARE ACTIVE!. Some lizards twice that size can do fine in a 50 gallon, these guys like more. I may be getting one soon, and am putting it in a 150 gallon custom vivarium

I love lizards but feeding yours helpless anoles and from the looks a greenies thats scared senseless it just plain sick. How would you like it to have your neck in vice-grips and being shook around, just knowing there is not a single thing you can do to avoid death. Yes it maybe natural for your big lizard to eat smaller lizards but thats in the wild were the little guys at the very least have a chance of getting away to live another day and not trapped in some cage.

canned cat and dog food i find works wonders for feeding my savannah. its inexpensive and my big boy doesnt have to fight with his food. Therefore hes extremely docile. Canned tuna, ground beef, beef liver, practically any meat that i give mr walker, he devours. He does still get a mouse or rat or hamster or anole, or whatever little animal i come across, he eats, like on a once a month basis. im not against live feedings i just prefer to not deal with any risks of my animal gettin injurred
