  • versão excelente do Kiss ,muito boa e ao vivo ...

  • Kiss sucks, I'd rather listen to limp bizkit, and I'd rather have a lobotomy then listen to limp bizkit.

  • It's better than the U2 cover.

  • se me pone la piel de gallina ,tremenda version de kiss ,viva el rocanrol carajooooo!!!!!!!!!!

  • ERIC CARR ON THE DRUMS!

  • nobody can touch the daltrey scream and gene is nowhere in the same league as the ox. I respect that kiss is honoring one of the bands that influenced them and so many other great bands the one and only the who.

  • Saw this tour twice....Oh Yeah!!!!

  • Good effort here by KISS, better than I expected. Sure helps to have two top-shelf musicians in Kulick & Carr. Respect.

  • The Who <3

  • it is just rock and roll

  • It is so surreal to hear this whole thing played live as opposed to the way the Who does it where Pete just plays the power chords to the pre-taped "strings-section" or whatever you want to call it.

  • Blasphemy. Keith and John are laughing at Gene's hairpiece.

  • Best song Kiss ever played. Now move over and watch the masters play it, The Who!

I must say this is much better than Van Halens` version.

  • @oberfour1 The best song KISS ever played is a song called "Let Me Go, Rock and Roll". Best live song ever, it's magic.

  • @oberfour1. Are you kidding me? VH blows Kiss away in every sense of the word. Including their version of this song. Kiss is one of the most overrrated bands, ever. They are mediocre musicians, at best.

  • @thisischavez Dude, the whole "Kiss are mediocre musicians" thing is long out of fashion, since people realized what damn good musicians they really are. You gotta catch up and stop spewing lines from 1977 that Zeppelin fans used to say.

  • @1957pinup. Sorry, brother...but the truth never goes "out of fashion". Kiss is overrated and their talent is average at best. They have some good songs. That's undeniable. But strictly as musicians, I'm gonna disagree with you. But hey, that's just my opinion. And you know what they say about opinions, right?

  • @thisischavez Kiss is really Grand Funk Railroad with Makeup....

  • cool footage! Would be great seeing a whole pro filmed concert from the Asylum tour... This is just great!

  • This was in the era when KISS decided to be heavy metal rock stars instead of super heroes. Pretty fucking stupid idea if you ask me. The world was full of metal stars, but we were somewhat short on heroes.

Main thing, though - Gene got fucking paid.

  • I was at this show. Me and a buddy. WASP opened up.

  • @tobdrue69 I was there too tobdrue!! Tarrant county convention center brotha! Wasp, holy shit, ain't thought about them boys in ages....how OLD are we dude? lol

  • @deemullins1 - Man we are getting up there. I remember Chris Holmes coming out in a Dallas Cowboys jersey and helmet when they sang Blind in Texas. Tarrant County was better for concerts back in the day as you were allowed to use pyro/fire etc. there. I also saw Ozzy on the Ultimate Sin tour there with Metallica opening up (Master of Puppets tour) when Cliff was still alive.

  • Holy fucking awesome-ness!

  • great song!!!!!!!

  • I would love to see a KISS cover album

I think it would feature The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Slade, Alice Cooper and New York Dolls

I'd call it Knights in Satans Service

  • Im guessing the reason for this stage used w/o the Asylum cover was b/c the arena was only so big, am I right?

  • I can't stand the idiots who talk shit about Ace---if he wasn't such a fuck up he'd still be there. I love both Ace and Peter, but Kiss is bigger than the individual-and its been proven over the years. Like it or not Gene and Paul do most of the singing, and thats the most recognizable trait in the band.

  • @13visions Ace left. Paul begged him to stay. Kiss rocks without Ace but Ace is my man, he is an original artist.

  • Guitar as the synth=Full of win

  • "Won get fooled again"? I wish Kiss fans would realize they are being fooled everytime they see another dude in Ace's make-up!

  • its a great song, but kiss has so much of there own songs that fans want to hear, don't understand this at all, why not do i, or the oath,

  • @vanhalen515084 YES! Love "Music" From the Elders! Didn't see much of that going on

  • Loving the round-robin vocals, awesome!

  • KISS wasn't that great. Compared to other bands, like the who, or Van Halen, or Aerosmith, their musical tallent is crap. The guitar riffs are simple as 2+2.. But they write good songs, and put on a good show.. Rock N Roll all night!! lml

  • @kiritateruryu

They are still musicly talented though, just worse than Van Halen etc.

They do make good music and awesome live shows though

  • @kiritateruryu ...... you should listen to the ENTIRE album by KISS called "Carnival of Souls.. the Final Sessions" .... and THEN, tell me they dont have a good musical ability. Seriously... and if you don't then your as air-headed as the rest of them, that Want to belive a lie.

  • I never cared about the make up, but you can say anything but NOT that KISS can't play well... they are an awesome band! and this is a pretty good cover :)

  • Entwistle said that he himself is his favorite bassist.

  • saw them play this in Dec. 1985 at MSG and they blew the roof off!!!

  • saw them play this in Dec. 1985 at MSG and they blew the roof off!!

  • Now that just rocked. Plain and simple.

  • When I saw them in October 2009, they did this in the middle of Lick It Up, it was the greatest thing I had ever witnessed!

  • Gene Simmons could sing the second verse while taking on that legendary bassline... I'm awed...

  • Are you fuking high? John Enthwhistel is a fuking god! Gene is novice at best!

  • Watch Gene carefully on that video... He nails that tough line while singing on top of that. Do you call that novice?

Gene's style is totally opposite to Entwistle's, more sticking-to-the-basics (Entwistle himself had said that "The Who don't have a proper bass player). Plus, Gene's basslines have always been the framework of KISS music, pay attention to Modern Day Delilah out of Sonic Boom (takes some balls to pull this one properly)

Props to Gene (even if he's a real douchebag as character)

  • Pretty good cover. I'm a little surprised. Sounds a lot like the Who live actually. Very loose and rockin. Nice job boys.

  • Last Year in Holland they did it as well... not the whole song, but they planted a part in the middle of Lick It Up!

  • guess I should have scrolled down a little more, I found it !

  • I was at this show in Fort Worth! And yes, they rocked it out.Thank you soooo much for this video. Eric also had a great drum solo during this show,do you have it?

  • I saw them do this song in albany on this tour. Everyone just went nuts when they started! It was great! The other things I remember were Paul Stanley missing a step going up the lightning stairs on the left and falling flat on his face. He's a pro though, you could tell he was in pain but he just looked up and smiled. His guitar was way out of tune after hitting the stairs so his tech ran him out another one. I also remember my friend getting kicked in the head and knocked out!

  • is there any video of this incident ?

  • no, we didn't have cell phones back then, we were just kids. I'd have loved to get that on vid, and of my friend getting knocked out!

  • That's the best thing I've ever heard Kiss do, perhaps they should be a covers band!

  • Did this in Halifax July 18. I was like holy shit

  • Good cover. Simmons is definitely no Entwhisle on bass though lol. Props for doing justice to the song nonetheless.

  • wow, wat a great cover

  • man this song came on right before the curtain fell when kiss came to montreal last month, then they jammed it halfway through one f their songs it was fucking badass

  • Back on the hot in the shade tour in Portland Or the did a montage of beatle tunes, i can't remember which ones but it was about 5 songs and lasted about 6 mins. paul and gene singing back and forth like paul and john did. wish i had a copy of that!!!!

  • bad ass !!!

  • didnt do finally scream all to well but alright cover

  • They played a part of that song while jamming in Bogotá, Colombia on Alive 35 Tour South American leg .

Also the song was played before beginning every concert .

  • also in prague

  • Comment removed

  • dude its one cover they did !!!

  • Actually, the covered "Then He Kissed Me" but changed "He" to "She". But the song, to my knowledge, was never played live other than being on Love Gun.

  • kissing time is also a cover song sos anyway you want it of alive 2 second disc

  • wow your the biggest tard ive ever seen in my life

  • ok, lol, go back to sleep

  • what was that at 6:41??

  • they played it very well.....it still has that special atmosphere

  • Very cool guitar harmonies!

    im impressed!

  • i saw them do this in cleveland @ richfield coliseum (r.i.p.) dec. 11th 1985--my first kiss concert--and when they started this song the place went APESHIT !!! ironically enough, black & blue opened up for them.....little did tommy thayer know that he'd end up playing with them years later

  • I was at that show. When the opening hard rock chord kicked in, the KISS logo became the colors of the American Flag. And Paul, Gene and Eric each sang a verse. The Coliseum was THE place to see rock shows. I live in LA and love the music venues here, but back in the day there was NO better place to see a show than the Coliseum. The crowds were jacked beyond compare- like a religious experience!

  • I was at that one as well. Great show. And your right.....the place was electric. You could feel the hair on the back of your neck standing up when they started to play this tune. What a great memory!

  • You could till Bruce had only just joined the band because he is like a tree.

  • Bruce had been in the band about 2 years at this point.

  • he still was yet to come out of his shell.

  • you should have seen him on the '84 European tour- I thought he was a mic stand!

  • That was NOT a fan shooting the flame fuktard!

  • they couldve actually used keyboard, but it still rocks hard

  • We don't get fooled again !!!!!!

  • Bring back the 20ft KISS sign!

  • @GordonExpress Yea that sign was cool. and state of the art back then. they should use it again. I seen them on this tour in kansas city. got some great pics....

  • Agreed! I hate the huge screen they have now.

  • @GordonExpress or the '84 one.

  • Gene, Paul and Eric who sings an The Who's classic!!! I lov it!!

  • Not a huge KISS fan but they definitely do The Who justice in this

  • eric carr = fuckken baller. r.i.p. eric...we love you

  • @mattkissband - yeah, out of the 3 drummers KISS had (Peter, Eric Carr, & Eric Singer), Eric Carr was by far the BEST drummer KISS ever had.

  • @evilunixuser1 I agree!!!

  • check out at the end when the kiss sign goes out at 6:41-6 :43 someone in the crowd to the right of the screen shoots a big ass fireball !! lol

  • Holy Crap! Who da thunk?

    Thanks for posting this.

  • Who is playing lead in this clip? I couldn't make it out - is it Bruce Kulick? Did Mark St. John ever make it out with them - was it him?

  • As a hardcore WHO & KISS fan, this blew my mind!!!

    Fuckin' Amazing!!! BADASS!!!!

  • Gene, Paul, and Eric singing a Who classic...simply awesome

  • To cover any song from The Who is a proof that the band that does the cover has either already achieved greatness or has the potential to achieve it

  • It is always great when Paul and Gene sing together! This is an amazing song and they play it with respect. Maybe the tempo is too fast but Kiss used to play fast live in those days, even their own songs.

  • A great tribute to a great band. Hat's off to KISS.

  • good cover

  • wow that was awesome.love to see a cllean version on a kissology dvd

  • I've seen them do this live along with Hey Joe and a Whole Lotta Love

  • Nothing short of a Wow. but what do you expect from KISS. Always amazing. They done a smash up job. *favorited'd*

  • i love it when a great band does a cover of another great band..... KISS Forever!!!!!

  • Thumbs UP from a Who fan. The guitar imitation of the Who's synthesizer sound is really awesome. :-D

  • Van halen did also,a bit better, & the vocals were cleaner & stronger..But Kiss did an ok job..

  • where did blackie lawless get his moves mmmm??

  • wicked

  • KISS were the Biggest Most successful band of the 70s regardless of How they got there or the method they used to get there. ....Success is success . To this day...Compare Love Gun in its entirity to Pink Floyd wish you were here or Zep-Presense ........Which one is gonne be more boring? Sure wont be Love Gun. I love zep & Floyd But they couldnt match KISS Record sales,Merchendice or concert attendance.

  • Zeppelin has sold MUCH MORE records than KISS.

  • So fuckin what!

  • I've said that in reply to 97warlock's comment ;)

  • Maybe, but how much merchandise have they sold? KISS are a merchandising machine. Take away the records, and Zeppelin is just another band. They have a few good tunes, but I think most of their records are sold due to nostalgia these days.

  • this is cooool

  • whoa the keyboard synthesizer sounds kinda cool. thats a nice custom by kiss. the who's still better obviously tho

  • This is probably one of the best cover songs i've heard, not counting any covered Bob Dylan songs. lol

  • Kiss in the 80s up rill now are an exellent rock band.......But in the 70s, There was NO band on Earth bigger or more successful! And if u think the beathles or elvis topped them in the 70s, think Agian. .........and just for teh record....by the time the early 80s came along & ozzy was trying for success.....He borrowed an idea ot two.from KISS. kiss was the Biggest Best & Ultimate band of the 70s plain & simple. ....Everyone has opinions.....But The Numbers dont lie!

  • According to the books "KISS Alive Forever" and "KISS and Sell" the number say that KISS was a very big group in the 70's, but groups like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd were far bigger and drew larger numbers to their concerts. KISS is my favorite group but they were built on hype and merchandising.

  • damienbaits is a f'n dumb ass and doesn't know what he's talking about, Pete IS not a convicted sex offender, it was a total misunderstanding, go read the Facts you ASS! And the KISS Circus SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

  • KISS is probably my favorite group, but I prefer the Who doing this song

  • this was my first concert ever wasp opened at tarrant county convention center

  • ''Kiss came along and blew the UK outta the water'' !?? don't make me laugh. KISS were, are and will remain an absolute circus act, they admit it themselves for fuck's sake. Your name is very apt by the way.

  • Neither do the Who. Do your research.

  • First concert ever was this tour! I forgot how awesome this was. No One is better than KISS live!

  • You just heard something but really don't know what happened, do you?

He did something that was very wrong (legally and morally because only government investigators may, with a court order, pay money to a criminal organization to serve an investigation), he was also extremely naive but it doesn't come close to what you imply.

  • Paul Stanley is amazing on this song

  • This is very cool! I wish there was a pro shot clip of this on kissology vol II.

  • No keyboards? Damn.

  • Eric Carr is amazing in this video clip. He does Keith Moon proud and the whole band really rocks this one out. I saw this tour in Glens Falls, NY on December 19th, 1985. It was a great show!!!

  • i must say i really dont like kiss but this is pretty good.

  • was this originally the who?

  • aye it was

  • pretty damn good! Anyone saying anything else, is crazy.

  • This is really neat. Like with the video of them playing Whole Lotta Love, it's just them having a bunch of fun on stage. They're not trying to be better than the original or even live up to it. They just break out into a song they all know to have fun and to give the audience a good show. Lighten up people.

  • My thoughts exactly! It's all about pleasing their fans and putting on the best show they can. And Kiss is great at that.

  • I believe Pete Townshend is the real queer. Not being funny here.I think its the truth.

  • Well it could be A LOT worse. At least it's not Limp Bizkits cover of Behind Blue Eyes. That was way more of a disgrace. And don't even get me started on Hillary Duff's cover of My Generation.

  • yo asshole they did a damn good job on this song, and they are better than the who, compare the who's number of big hits to kiss's, and youll see they arent as good

  • yo ASSHOLE, KISS is an overhyped garage band made up of former school teachers and high school dropouts wearing makeup to hide their ugly faces. The Who is a pioneer rock band that set the path for hundreds of other bands. KISS is nothing but aSatuday morning cartoon act playing bubblegum music.

  • KISS did a kind of short version of this song in Stockholm, Sweden, 30/5.

  • They've played this song in their last shows

  • I actually was the the show. Imagine that one?

  • I'm going to see them in 15 days, can't wait!

  • this is the who's song, dude

  • dude are you blind?

  • i wish i could hear genes bass more to hear what hes playing cause johns bass line on this song is incredable and genes playing is...um...

  • This version has my favourite drumming.

  • Impressive! This sounded great ... especially Paul and Bruce harmonizing on guitar the Lowery Berkshire Organ parts The Who played on the original

  • KISS WILL ROCK N' ROLL 4EVER!!!

  • This is awesome, it sounds like classic KISS! They should record this song.

  • I totally agree with you.

  • I think this was done to show their musical 'inspiration' they appreciate the influences !

As well, it would be hard to 'visualize' them doing this in the 'make up'!

  • Not in any way! They would still it this to the basement.Like everything else ;P

  • I dig it. Gene is definitely no Entwistle though..lol. But, then again, there was only one Ox. I also agree with iggyfan. Kiss doing a tribute album to their favorites. Sort of like what Rush did with Feedback. Sounds good.

  • agree!

  • Very cool. Bruce is rockin' out. It's good to hear Eric sing. I have to admit, I think if Bruce were to have his own makeup/costume altar ego, he should be the Guinea Pig.

  • the who is bette but this is good

  • Maybe Kiss should do a tribute album for there favorites

  • Man, Eric Carr really rocks this one out, doesn't he? He's channelling Keith Moon here big time.

  • I'm pretty impressed with this actually. There's not much I like about the Kiss era without make-up, but this cover of an amazing song by The Who is really not too bad.

  • Good !

    KISS4EVER

  • This is a pretty good cover. It beats the hell out of the one that Van Halen had on their 93 live album, that's for sure.

However, my two favorite Who covers were when Pearl Jam did Baba O'Reilly in Champaign 03, and recently when they did Love Reign O'er Me. (Only have audio, not video of those thus far).

  • Greatest American band plays a song by the greatest English band, what more can you want

  • Wasn't there, but I think I recognize the venue.

Buncha NY boys in Decade 2 of costuming up...why wouldn't they do a tribute to a band they probably grew up worshipping? More poweer to `em!

  • So amazing to see footage from a concert that I attended. I was with my friend who is now dead... okay, this just got depressing.
