How the hell is whale hunting legal, It's illegal in almost every freaking country except for Japan. And if the Japs are controlling the whale hunt, they are not doing a great job are they?!? The whales are nearly EXTINCT. They are already an endangered species when you still kill and eat them.

@holyhunter Ever heard of species (However it's spelt in english) Some 'species' are legal to hunt with responsibility, but there is allways the jerkish illegal whaler. It's legal in more countries than japan, for example, Denmkar.
Japan is not controling the whale hunt, there is an asociation of countries that do whaling! Whales are not nearly extinct (Again, species) The ones that are nearly extinguished are not able to be hunted.

@holyhunter For example, Japan suspended the whaling season because they can't make sure that their men are safe. Japan authorized the exact number of 850 whales to be hunted, no more no less, they don't hunt what they want, it's regulated.
The sad thing is, the captain of Sea Sheperds, that stupid bearded guy, even lies to get atenction. Like when he says he gets shot. He haves a bullet hole when he opens his jacket, but not a hole on his jacket!

@holyhunter As the last video you sent me, it says that those whales are used for commercial and research use. You can see that it says it, samples demonstrate that the sea is contaminated, with mercury (found on whales)
They do get harpoons shot through them, so? It's the only way to get them, do you want to throw mortars to them? Shoot them with a hundred bullets? It's the only way to hunt them.
Those videos just show how they are hunted, and why, nothing else.

FACT: "Commercial" whaling was banned and made illegal in 1986. FACT: Today, now that they're officially not allowed to kill whales for food, the Japs kill 900+ per year for "scientific purposes". FACT: Before 1986, when they were killing 2000 a year for food, the Japs killed 200 per year for "scientific purposes".

It seems to me that people from certain backgrounds, believe what the Japanese are doing is wrong, and therefore it is illegal, and therefore the Sea Shepherd can do as it likes? am I wrong? because I've actually made an effort to get as much information on this as possible and there doesn't seem to be much in the way law in this debate at all, it's more emotions

Like for example you go on holiday to a unkown country and the law of that country doesn't say that murdering is illegal and you would even get paid to kill anyone. Would you then go and murder everyone? NO. Ofcourse not. You don't kill just because it's not illegal. And if you do, maybe someone else finds that you shouldn't kill and he (in this case sea shepard) is gonna do something about it.
