And now your pt will get a bed sore with the huge wrinkle that you left in the middle of the bed. Also, you contaminated the sheet by letting it touch the floor. My prof would have certainly failed you for less than that. But damn! I get you! Bed making is awful!
@86dougedoug the skills pretty much go out the door anyway when you actually go to work in a nursing home cause you don't have time to think about how it's suppose to be done. you just do it and get it done with.
The only misstep in this video in my opinion is @ 3:08 he allowed the dirty linen to touch his clothing. But as a CNA student, this video is very clear, accurate, and helpful. Thank you for this!
@marcyct gosh you are one dumb "RN". Im just a volunteer so far and even i could process what he was saying and doing at the same time and knew he was talking about the imaginairy rails and knew that is not a real patient and everything was only for an educational purpose. You are so not an RN, liar.
@marcyct Once again you fail to pay attention. At 0:19 through 0:20 he mentions "side rail on my side down." "Grab the the side rail Mr. Smith" at 0:40. Side rail is mentioned again when he says "put up the rail let him grab the rail." Your the loser. End of discussion.
@marcyct I wouldn't want you to be my RN. Because you failed to pay attention to detail. At 0:13 he mentions "put on my gloves" then on 5:37 "take off the gloves." There is nothing worse in the healthcare setting than a nurse who goes around proclaiming "I'm an RN, better than you, and I failing to pay attention to detail because I have become arrogant." I hope you pay better attentioin the doctor's calls than this thoughtless critique of yours.
@marcyct If you were paying attention instead of trying to be a show-off. The only no-no this guy did was let the fitted sheet touch the floor at 1:12. Talk about your misdiagnosis!! Miss RN.
This teacher did an awsome job in this skill. I was reading my nursing Assistant Review Manual as he was performing it and it was really close to exact. This is a great refference. People with negative comments, be happy we have an idea of what to do. thats the point.
Don't worry about the negative comments, people will never understand until they are a CNA, LVN, RN... people would be surprised to learn how wrong their 'common sense' truly is. But I guarantee they won't be complaining when they are in that hospital bed needing the care of a trained CNA. A hospital, nursing facility, etc would never run without CNAs.
@SuperRoss83 ya actually you do because if you don't do it right you can put pathogens in the air putting you and other patients at risk of illness or just make a bigger mess. obviously you're not a cna
He did a great job with this. Some of the people writing bad comments need to remember different states have different rules on how to do this. And unless the person in on contacts precaustions or the bed linen is soiled hes not required to wear gloves. Other than a few small mistakes he did this exactally how my instructor taught me, and this is a great reference.
we only have 3 and a half weeks to learn all this i been a stay at home mom and house wife for years im 35 and yes it comes easy for some but its alot to cram in n 3 and a half weeks so youtube has helped alot for me my mom my mother n law and alot of my friends are cna , er nurses,RN i hope i can just pass my state
i think he did a good job considering you only have 30 min. for all skills..he described what he need to do in detail sometimes you have beds that dont lift up so u will have to do it this way
@chileangriffin Ok did you listen to his words its a simulation. 1.He said he raised the raise (there were none on the actual bed) 2. The wasnt a hamper and he said that they would go in the soild linen hamper. (It's a simulation) and 3 through 5 he could have done a little better but he wouldn't have got docked too much (he was just trying to show the skill quickly) and 6. It's not required on the state test to losen the blanket.
keep the pillow under their head at all times, unless you're changing it. never let linens, soiled or not, touch the floor or your scrubs. wash your hands and change gloves before moving to the other side of the bed. he did not do the toe pleat and left a huge wrinkle in the fitted sheet. not relieving unnecessary pressure will increase the risk of pressure sores. i know it's only a demo, but he was very rushed and cold about the task, i hope that isn't how he behaves with real residents.
In my book, we are required to put up the bedrail on the side the subject rolls to. I think people should not post videos like this, unless they're sure it is right.
I have not taking my exam yet but Im was trying to get some reviews from this video but I see their is a lot of contamination from the instructor.. 1he does not change glove each time he has to get the new linen, 2 he putt the linen toward him touch his clothing.3 did not say he provide privacy for the patient..4 he keep touching his face with if the patient had some crazy disease he would have gotten it right on his face. and he also cough over the patient. I'm not being mean but do it right
According to the American Heart Association, you need to wash your hands and re-glove after you roll the bottom dirty linens out, before you touch the clean ones again. You also are suppose to give a "bath blanket"/equivalent on him and then take all the top lines off.
the clean sheets touched the floor and dirty linens. clean sheets should never touch the dirty. the pillow should have been moved over to support the bed. over all though this video is great.
This Was GREAT !! We Learned It A LITTLE Diff. But All In All, It Was The Same Types Of Techniques &Methods !! This Was Awesome ! In MY Opinion Of Course
different states have different ways. maybe some things he did were off a little but it can be easily fix if u catch it. the good thing about this video is that he gives us an idea of how it should be done. good video. if you don't like it make ur own.
And now your pt will get a bed sore with the huge wrinkle that you left in the middle of the bed. Also, you contaminated the sheet by letting it touch the floor. My prof would have certainly failed you for less than that. But damn! I get you! Bed making is awful!

i hope when push comes to shove this is not how he treats the residents/patients
one big thing is the bottem sheet is not wrinkle free which can lead to bed sores and we dont want that now do we

1 Didn't raise bed rail
2 Put soild linen on the chair
3 Took pillow and left resident's head hanging
4 Linen touched the floor
5 left bottom sheet with wrinkles (which may cause a skin sore)
6 didn't lose the blanket at the feet, to avoit resident's feet to drop

What went wrong -
He held the linen against his uniform
He let the fitted sheet touch the floor
He left a crease in the new fitted sheet
He threw the soiled linen across the room
He didn't remove his "gloves" with new linen
"Would you like to try this skill again?"
