Editing videos made with JVC HDD Camcorder for uploading to Youtube

i love my JVC :D

but the editing software that came with it wasnt to good.

but i guess if you buy the better version of it it would be better

what camcorder did you use for recording?

does it as as (VOB file) and then you have to covert?

Yes.

JVC Everio MG330

It saves as .mov (quicktime format) and you will have to convert if your movie editing software cannot handle that format or where u r uploading does not handle it... the software that comes with the camcorder of course can handle .mov formats.

I thought MPEG was the format for video editing.

I have a hard time choosing which camcorder to buy. Thanks and good luck.

There are a ton of video formats... the following are the formats accepted by youtube (there are a ton not accepted by youtube):

.WMV (Window Media)

.3GP (cell phones)

.AVI (windows)

.MOV (mac)

.MP4 (ipod/psp)

.MPEG

.FLV (adobe flash)

.MKV (h.264)

Oh and I misspoke earlier... the format for the JVC camcorder is .mod (not .mov)... oops... I thought it was the quicktime format but was mistaken.

This guy is using a MAC so his files are .MOV. If you use a PC files will be stored as MPEG..... Consumer reports said the JVC HDD camcorders have good video quality but low light shooting is Poor. They recommend The Canon DC410.....

No I am using a PC and the file extension for videos taken with this camcorder is .mod (I misspoke when I said .mov).

uumm. the software int working on the pc iam using. it opens up but whne i go to advanced editing, it says "Power Director can only run under 1024 x 60 high color (16 bit) resolution or higher" what does that mean and how can i fix it?

either right click the desktop and click on properties or go to control panel and open up the "display" folder.

Then click on the settings tab and change the screen resolution or color quality to something that is high enough.
