From the looks of the bags when they leave the store, either the kid is a spoiled brat or the dad is rich because NES games werent exactly cheap back then;they typically $50, the same price as todays PS3 and Xbox360 games. And since wages and inflation were lower back then, buying a NES games was like today spending $70-80 on a game in todays terms!

NES games were priced right around todays games running $50 or even more exactly on the dot, so they weren't as affordable then as of now. Hell we only had a handful of NES games at the start and it wasnt until the early/mid 90s we started buying more NES to keep as, naturally, prices went down.

Gotta say, I appreciate the research put into this. Back then, it was usually painful to watch video game commercials, as they were always made by adults who didn't understand the product and were just trying to pander to kids. The toy store in Metroid is actually called "Kraids". That's awesome.

how much did games cost back then i forgot. i think they range between $49.99 to $79.99 i was a little kid i did pay attention to prices much. i know i bought legend of Zelda ocarina of time a week after it came out at KB Toys store for $90.00 goldEd. funny how it was more expensive than today's games wired. not that they aren't expensive but just to show how we got rip off back then so much from today's market in video games that have a fix rate of $69.99 but i always by use so i get it cheap.
