  • just received your book today, will study as hard as I can (and hope you're the right Doug Young because the book has no photo). Thanks a lot!!!

  • @misadeptrai1011 Good luck with it! Hope it's useful.

  • thanks so much for this, it is brilliant, concise and enjoyable to watch :)

  • GREAT...good stuff...thank you...

  • Deadly. i already knew about dadgad and i discovered eadeae on my own, but this is a really good lesson, nonetheless

  • Thanks a lot for this information and the time you put into making this.

  • Guy, thanks so much! You make theory sound fun! Do you give lessons?

  • Very informative, thanks a lot

  • Brilliant and well-conceived analysis of these tunings.

    Thanks!

  • Looks like an"olsen" guitar no?

  • James Olson (with an "o")? No, I'm using a Ryan and two Claxton's.

  • Great lesson. Very effectively taught.

  • Hi Doug, Thank you so much for generously sharing your talent and knowledge! All the best! G-d Bless-Ed

  • super lesson......thanks so much Doug...opens up new worlds of creativity..beautifuly explained...I'm off to subscribe to you!

  • If memory serves me (doubtful), I've heard EADEAE referred to as A-pipe tuning - probably because it put the guitar into the same key as the Scottish Highland bagpipes - which are actually in Bb.

Somebody more knowledgeable could probably explain this better.

  • lovely lesson, Doug is great.

  • i never thought of it as Dsus4 but makes sense use DGA ss the triad. does anyone know any songs with the Em7 tuning EGDGBE???

  • Great great tutorial. There are normally two terms in guitar that bring fear to me: fretless and alternate tunings. I've had fun playing in alt tunings, but with the general udnerstanding that they sound good and I have no idea what I'll be playing, which is frustrating to me. These analogies between them are great. I love dadgad and orkney, so was happy to find this info out! Thanks

  • Thank you so much for sharing. I experiment a lot with different tunings and partial capo so I really enjoy your gifted comments.

I am also mesmerized by the sound of your wonderful guitar!

    Best regards
