  • What I've personally noticed is that the one arm chest press really works your abs because you have to fight to stay balanced and keep your body on the bench. I'm not saying it's better than using two dumbbells, but that's one good thing I've noticed about it.

  • Just do what works for you. If you're like me, you won't see muscle gain on flat or incline bench with a straight bar. I have to use dumbbells to achieve that.

  • ok for all the newcomers to lifting bring your shoulder blades together or "tuck your shoulders" as he says BEFORE you unrack the bar. dong it the way he does it is stupid and unsafe. your absolutely begging to get hurt. so bring your shoulder blades together, THEN unrack, and remember to keep your shoulder blades together for every rep.

  • @nick your routine is not really the best to increase size. Incorporate the incline to add size to the upper chest and flat bench helps the outside to increase size. Also if you ever need to shape the chest, burnouts are a great way. Also weigh protein helps

  • I'm 15 years old and fairly skinny: about 5'11 and 57kg. When I work chest, I like doing Dumbbell press 10 reps 4 sets. Dumbbell flys 8 reps 4 sets. Dips 8 reps 3 sets. Then I do as many pushups as possible, take a 30 second break, and do as many push ups as possible again to finish off. I know that this video is clearly showing me a good chest routine but are there any problems with mine?

  • @nickrunaway2 should be resting a small amount after each exercise and probs 5 diff exercises with 3 sets of each will be more effective, different exercises will be working diff muscles in diff ways

  • I'm half you size and I can easily do 50lbs 'over the tops' but with my back fully on the bench. How much of a difference does having your lower back and neck off the bench make? I think the difference is that it works you lower back as well.

  • @1Jupe if you go higher with your hips (let's say as high as your chest or even higher) you work your latissimus to a great degree, too. However on chest day, I don't wanna do any exercise using my lat, so i go very low with my hips.

  • @Devestato72 the idea is that the other arm is stabilizing the weight so that you dont bring the dumbell onto your face if you are lifting heavy

  • @Devestato72 I think it has something to do with more concentration needed and keeping the bar balanced would probably work stabilizing muscles. gyms are SHARED, and if someone wants to use the equipment for something you should let them even if you think its stupid. some people probably think bench presses are stupid cause you could just as easily do weighted push ups...just saying.

  • @Devestato72 much more challenging holding one dumbbell on lockout and pressing the other - loads more core, loads more work on your chest, shoulder girdle, everything - I'm a PT and have never, ever, EVER seen a one-arm bench press with a bar.

  • @Chaosracket1 thats pretty normal, unless its like one massive chest lol. but your workarm (writing, lifting etc) is also bigger at any time. you dont push stuff with both arms, you always have one stronger half.

  • @Chaosracket1 i suggest checking Scott Herman's My WOrkout - Chest. I use that too and so far its pretty symmetrical. I dont know how long youve been working out, but getting a proper chest like SH, it takes some time. Stabilizing, putting up mass and strength, resting etc. just check his My Workout vids, it works alot for me

  • rjibran if you go in there and pick up any kind of weight your going to gain muscle mass since your just beginning...if you do these exercises you will be fine..if it were me i would do flat bench 3 sets anywhere between 6-12 reps with barbell, then 3 sets of incline press 6-12 reps with DUMBBELLS, then i would do 3 sets of decline with a barbell 6-12 reps, also if you want you could do some type of fly/pec dec 3 sets 6-12 reps and that would be plenty for chest

  • I am 21 years old, 5'8" height, 120 lbs. I am very skinny. I have never done any exercise before. I want to gain some muscles mass. Please tell me will the "Chest Muscle Mass" will be enough for me or do I have to do some other exercises also to gain some mass. Thanks.

  • @rjibran alright this is how it will go if your trying to gain weight what you will do is 12 sets per muscle group. So chest for example, do bench 3 sets anywhere from 6-12 reps, incline DUMBBELLS 6-12 reps 3 sets, decline (if you don't know what that is look it up) 6-12 reps 3 sets, and then military press for 3 sets 6-12 reps. There is your chest workout. Then the next day you will do legs and calfs. Then the next day do back and traps. 4th day rest then 5th day repeat chest,legs, etc.

  • @rjibran even though im not a PT, i suggest to go easy if you never worked out before.. everybody wants mass asap but forget its pretty much impossible to get it fast.. its kinda a good thing your skinny (im pretty slim / slightly toned myself) because your muscles will rap more then when you got more bodyfat. so you'll see results pretty quickly. Just ont overdo your training, or youll end up skinnier or worse, injured.

  • @BoneCrusherJiuJitsu rust you need your tricep to push, everytime you push you're engaging your tricep, which quite a lot of chest exercises require you to push. so while you're working your chest you're working your tricep, then once your done chest, you do 2-3 exercises concentrating on your tricep and you should be good to go, just do 4-5 exercises concentrating chest and i garuntee atleast 2 will engage your tricep, do them last then hit your tricep

  • Hey guys. Would you recommend doing all 5 exercises in 1 workout?

    My chest is not that well developed compared to the rest of my body, so I kinda want to go extra hard in the next 3 or 4 month.

    I just hear alot of people talking about too many exercises in one workout is overtraining, etc.

  • @felixkjoller youre supposed to do all 5 exercises at once, take a break for a couple of minutes, and then go back and repeat the same 5 exercises at least 2 more times. it wont be overtraining. overtraining would be more like doing these same chest exercises every day and not giving your muscles enough rest. i usually only work my chest and shoulders once or twice a week.

    its about diet, youre going have to add some fat if you want extra muscle unless you stick to a very strict diet
