  • I had that same face when I finally got my engine started after rebuild

  • I'm planning to build a car from ground up on a chevelle chassis funny got the chassis didn't get the car

  • Your engine sounds great.... Nice job!

  • hmmm i was always told they needed to ran at a certain rpm for a certain amount of time to broke in right???? wtf do i know?

  • Congrats on Your accomplishment :) That's a sweet beast You got there :D

  • Can That Chevelle 454 Beat A 1970 Torino 429 Super Cobra Jet In Race...0-60,1/4 Mile,Etc...

  • great job man, be proud of yourself :D

  • Thats whats up man!

  • That sound! :-)..

  • thats awsum, i have a 74 vette dat im restoring

  • How do you like the electric water pump?

I have heard good and bad. I have the same water pump, and alt pulley setup. The pulley setup work nicely?

  • im !6 and working on a chevell clone me and my dad got ten years ago it has a 454 450 horse power engine but i cant wait to rebuild the rest it runs now but i think ima make it custom instead of ordering original parts cause its a clone im gunna go aftermarket its all about that american mussel tho

  • nice setup almost identical to mine, but i don't have mine in the car yet :/

  • very nice. im in the process of building my 454 too. beautiful engines in my opinion. but for the people who say imports and hondas suck, my civic made it possible for me to save so much gas money(90 miles a day was killin me with a v8) that now i can buy new internals for the 454.

  • I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree

  • What kind exhaust do you have on it?

  • wow that sounds amazing! i have a 454 in storage. all in pieces, i bought it from a friend 15 years ago straight out of tech school. all rebuilt and bored out. it needs manifold up. do you have any idea it's worth? it's from a 1971 chevy wagon.

  • if thats your first start ever dont you need to do the break in?

  • OMFG AWESOME CAR DUDE

i also have a 1970 chevelle that is stroked and balanced and with a drag racing cam in it!

  • took yeaaarrsss to get my dads truck to this state lol

  • fingers crossed....wait for it.... wait for it.... YES

  • Permagrin :)

  • The 70 Chevelle. The definition of American Muscle. Nice work man.

  • im working on a race boat with a 454

  • Too bad today's cars don't have that big of engines anymore:(

  • Fuckin A!!!!!!!!!! Take it to the track!!

  • awsome she has a beautiful heart.

  • Nothing better than hearing your motor fire up for the first time! That grin says it all!! Nice!

  • NICE ENGINE

  • Jeebus, that's frikkin cool.

  • did you build the engine yourself or is it a crate engine?

  • Straight pipe?

  • You're a brave man grapping the top of that distributor while it's running. I've had 50,000 volts run through my arm and that hurts just too much for me to ever do that again.

Oh ya, nice car. Have fun.

  • gotta love the sounds of a big block loping.

  • gotta love the sounds of a big block loping.

  • gotta love the sounds of a big block loping.

  • chevys rule I got a 57 with origional 283 and I won't pull it out!

  • @fiddlerpin I had a 57 with a 283 back in 1976. I love the 283 too! What a great engine! Power pack heads! Cast iron pistons! Carter carb. Spagetti headers. Cast iron Powerglide finally replacxed by a T-10. 1956 Pontiac rear end and drive shaft. Lakewood ladder bars. What memories. I remember the windsheild wipers stopping everytime I floored it.

  • @1971SuperLead Hi- I pulled out the old vacuum wiper and replaced it with the electric one . I remember the wipers quitting every time I floored it too! 57 Chevy, 283, power pack, carter wcfb, muncie m22, 64 posi unit. Who could ask for more?

  • @fiddlerpin Please tell me you are going to post a video of this living legend soon.

    Happy Hotroddin!

  • @1970ChevelleMan Hey, im 12 and i LOVE cars!! What is that blinking light by the drive belt?? and why did the engine sound like it was about to turn off and stall? was there not enough fuel in the carboator?? And how do u shift the automatic version properly???

  • @joker33284 the blinking light by the belt is a timing light. the motor is brand new with this being its first start. It's being broken in.

  • @joker33284 Thats the beautiful idle that a good cam will do to any V8.

  • i love hearing an engine start for the first time...like a virgin...lol

  • not me im 18 and bought me a 1980 f250 for 600 bucks.its got a 400m small block no cats school bus pipes running into super turbo dynomax mufflers,i hate ricers.

  • not all kids, i'm turning 16 tomorrow. and i have a 72 chevelle malibu as my frist car. sb 350, bench seats and a 3 on the tree :D

  • awesome!!!! lo9ve that big block lope

  • thats one choppy big block! NICE

  • sounds good!

  • Did ya prime it

  • nice man

  • NICE...

  • someone has A LOT of money haha

  • No, It takes time, patience, saving and able to do the work yourself. (Years in the making)

  • Yeah no kidding. I started with my engine when I was 13 years old and the car when I was 16. It is almost done. I will be turning 20 in April. I paid for almost all of it myself so it takes forever to get the money together. I have done everything except paint and machining the block.

  • @1970ChevelleMan How much do u think a 1970 chevelle costs? in great shape?

  • TE AMO

  • DId you prelube the motor before starting it for the first time ? I didnt see it done on this video.

  • Ya gotta love it when a new BBC fires to life!

  • haha wana restore mine for free?

  • what carb do you have on it? i've got a 1970 chevelle with a 350 .040 over with a holley 750. is the one you have a 750?

  • Good Job! Nice Ride!

  • check out da 454 i got on mi 73 caprice da 1 on mi page

  • *the* & *my*

  • When I did that, I was so excited my hands were shaking. I ran it at 3000 rpm for 20 minutes to break in the cam.

  • Sounds like it wants to kick someone ass.

  • wish my 305 sounded like that. well at least its still a v8. it sits under the hood of my 89 camaro. my summer daily driver. a 454 would be way too thirsty to drive it everyday. eventually i would like to get a 350. right now 305 still runs good and simply wont die. i just do the 3,000 mile oil change. Chevrolet v8s run forever.

  • You can pimp a 305.

  • hey, i just bought a low mileage 350 reman engine for 300 bucks. im going to stick a nice cam in it, maybe a decent manifold. im going to run tbi. it simply costs too much money to try to make power with a 305, not saying it cant be done. but if you buy a new cam and lifters, heads, and manifold maybe you will make 230 hp. a 350 produces that stock. anyways i have a lower mileage 350, im going to stick with the tbi on it though. better fuel economy.

  • I have a 350 in my "69" Malibu. Orig. engine was 307. My dad sold the engine to my uncle. Uncle blew the shit out of it. I mean he threw a rod... drove for another 40 miles, and cracked 2 cylinders. There goes my matching numbers Chevelle. It's a rat rod at the moment. Dad Finally signed it over. needs $20,000 worth of new metal or $7,000 for a good patch job.

  • from where

  • Yes you are right. As long as you take care of your motor the chev v8s will last forever!

  • 6.5 V8 395CI of turbo diesel!!! has 227,XXX on it and will last for another 200,000!!

  • lol i couldnt kill my 305 in my 92 chevy it was a perfomince 305 360 rwhp lol crazy shit lol

  • Sounds awesome

  • hey, my favorite car is the 70 chevelle!! :) im only 16.. but its my dream car since i was 10 lol.. and its weird because i want to drop a 454 in mine (when i get one :p)... its weird cuz your like living my dream right now! :p i subscribed, the vid was awesome :) make more videos about it!!

  • whats he doing at 1:55 and how can i do that?

  • its just timing using a timing light

  • aDJUSTING THE TIMING

  • sounds mean- love it awesome car

    good luck with it-have fun

  • Popcorn Baby....yah!

  • wow. i could listen to that all day.

  • the chevelle is the mans car

  • thts a mans car

  • you had to step on the gas like three times so gas can start to flow

    but nice car though

  • nothing like hearing your baby cry for the first time!

  • Hey, I'm not even a Chebbie guy, but that motor sounds fantastic!! Crate engine or did you have the pleasure yourself? Nice job!!

  • carburetor looks kinda small for an engine that big, ya'll gonna upgrade? maybe im just a dumbass, lol. my fav car though.

  • 5 thumbs up. Nice car. The 454's they stuffed in the '70 SS454's probably put out 450-500 hp and ran in the low 13's to high 12's. Can't wait to see what that beast will do. Keep making good videos!

  • is that a 454 LS-6 if so where did you get it? i'm looking for one for my 1970 Chevelle ss convertible.

  • saturns will never sound like that

  • sick gt grant steering wheel i got the same 1 in flat black on my stepside

  • Nice car! Crate, or self-build engine?

    Sounds NASTY!

That's awsome that your wife is supportive.

I wish my GF could be at least half of that!

  • Awesome setup...cant wait to see it with the new colors.

    Brag A Little

  • Thats one prideful moment when your baby comes to life. Lets nope your excitement isnt tempered with a criminal speeding ticket like mine was...

  • so when the burnout video comeing

  • man thats beatiful

great job god bless you ur engine and suportive wife

  • Thanks!

  • That thing has got balls made of uranium. Sounds like you have a pretty nasty cam in that thing; sounds like the motor equivalent of sex. Awesome work, man. Congrats on a successful start

  • I sure hope that is a roller cam engine the way he started it up.

  • It sure Is!

  • What a beautiful motor! I wish I had one. That thing sounds nice.

  • wow. i could listen to that all day.

  • holy cow...that thing is clean!!!! nice work!!!

  • Braver Man than me grabbin the distributer had a nasty shock once from a MSD dist. Made my balls tickle.

  • nice.....lol.lol

  • lol!

  • its called timing, thats how you do it. you cant do it with the engine off

  • is this the black one in your other videos? if it is you should keep it black i think that looks good

  • When I hear the mechanical music this engine makes, I'm having a hard time believing there's 'only' 574 HP inside. Sounds beautiful, and all I can say is: Ford and Mopar fans take yet another Bow-Tie blow to the cranium!!

  • I'm sure this engine is a real screamer, but I couldn't help but add my 2 cents worth: when starting a new engine, it's IMPERATIVE to run-in the camshaft to prevent galling the lifter face. This means, soon as it's stablized it should be taken to 1200-1500 RPM's and held there for a few minutes. Idling a newly-fired engine is the hard on it.

  • Your right, Watching this video would give you the impression that it was just started and at idle. The video was spliced together. After the first start it was taken to 2000 rpms for 20 minutes then restarted after looking everything over. Great observation though. Thanks!

  • unless it's a roller... which in this day and age, if ya dont have one, your behind the times...my solid roller is a monster...

  • how many ponies is she pushin??? thx for the vid man but id take my pontiac 455 anyday hope u dont meet me on th street =P

  • awesome car. wish i could see it when its fully finished though, best year of chevelles i think

  • Thanks, If you go to my videos, I have 4 videos of the car. The first 2 when it was black and 4th video

    with this color.

  • Hey nice engine. Could you tell me what cam you have in the engine. Thanks

  • is it modified

  • nothin puts a smile on ur face quite like startin up an engine for the first time does..its great

  • Thats for sure. Love to hear them galloping horses

  • why wouldnt it start initially, were you that far off on the timing?

  • I had a fuel line leak.

  • NIIIIIIIIICE i envy u, bro...i want a 1970 so bad u dont know how lucky u are!!

I dont have aluminium heads but i have bought some Merlin cast ones, hopefully they do the job.

  • What headers are you using?

  • Iam using ceramic coated headers with alumium heads.

    Thanks for the question.
