I really liked this movie, good thing I found a copy with accurate English subtitles. I cried for days due to the ending. I was kind of disappointed though, the ending was sad but it kind of annoyed me. The fact that she just forgot ryota, I thought she would have at least remembered him seeing as she loved him. But it was sad how she couldn't change the past. He still died. :(

I watched this before the animated movie, was kind of disappointed by the live-action version. Great actors, setting, etc. just the ending treaded on my greatest pet-peeve in Japanese story telling. Amnesia, the kind that totally changes the way the story was moving and how character act. The feeling of betrayal.

This movie is NOT a remake of the anime or the original story. it's a continuation of the saga that of Toki Wo Kakeru Shojo. The main character iis NOT the Makoto in the anime. She's actually Makoto's cousin, Akari. The Witch Aunt in the anime was the original "Girl who leapt through time" and Akari is her daughter.

This explains why the aunt was so receptive to Makoto when she talked about time travel since she has done so herself.

I just saw this few days ago and I must say I really love this version just as much as the animated one. Both this one and the anime have a different story line, but I thought this version was more sad. Definitely worth watching, have some tissue papers when watching!

You guys are too funny. The animation is inspired by the original novel and is considered to be a psuedo-sequel to it. Makoto's aunt is hinted to be Kazuko, the original protagonist from the novel and this movie is supposed to be about Kazuko's daughter. Which is not the same thing. Kazuko sends her daughter, Akari to the past to find a man. You guys haven't even seen this film. Not even close to the animation.

Most Japanese fans have the strong impression to the movie of 1983 version, and the heroin "Kazuko" was so cute.

Kazuko is the aunt of Makoto in the anime ver. of 2006.

If you have a chance, try to the 1983 ver. and you'll have understand the story and her character more deeply .
