I put Jaguar on it! Jaguar has awesome desktop effects!
By the way, After the install... I burnt the Install Disks to a CD and i put them into my pc to test them, but there were no files, the free space meter was on 0 Bytes and the capacity meter was 0 bytes! Are MacOS install disks not readable on a pc? I need to know b4 thurs (8TH of april!)
@Macintosh3745 The files are probably on the disks, but Windows doesn't know how to read them by default, if you want to see the files on Windows look for a program called Mac Drive, but note you will be able to see the files but you wont be able to install Jaguar on your PC natively.
So what, Time Machine, whoopdy doo, and the importance of that is?
Of course, I can complain about Macs, as they are PC's, and run like any other PC, the OS is what limits the Mac, b/c not a lot of applications are written for that OS.
The graphics are no different than any other PC, and they tend to be ATI, which is not recommended for certain games.
A Mac and a PC are the same thing, the determination of what it can do is in the OS, in this respect, b/c I an install Windows on a Mac, it's still a Mac, that's the general name of the computer systems.
Out of all the applications that come with Apple's OS, I would us at most Photo Booth, that's it, the rest is completely useless to me.
A Mac is a PC, a Mac is a personal computer is it not?
I don't use the Apple rhetoric, saying Mac and PC, is like me saying Dell and PC.
I am actually running Leopard as a Virtual Machine, in VMware, just to piddle with it, I don't use it for anything, I do all my movie editing, CG animation creation, I created my website in Windows, specifically Windows 7.
Also, I like to play games, most of which OSX doesn't have adequate graphics acceleration, it uses OpenGL, most games are DirectX, so if I bought an Apple computer, and wanted to fork out the money, I would install Windows on it since the hardware is the same as any other machine, of course, the only negative side to it is that it has an ATI GPU chipset, which is not recommended for flight simulator, causes to much stuttering.

no, you use virtual disk images which are similar to ROMs in the sense that ROMs are ripped from a physical media as are ISO disk images (or IMG images for the virtual hard disk).
Yeah, well this guys using a special type of computer called a "Netbook" it's really popular! You should research it somewhere. It does not have a whole ton of memory, cuz its used for light work.
you don't HAVE to use the command line but if you want to all you have to do is change to the PearPC directory (cd /d c:\pearpc\) and then type the name of the PearPC executable followed by a space and then the name of the PearPC configuration file you want to use (ppc.exe ppccfg.example)

Obviously, your immaturity has prevented you from giving an actual loser. And since you can't say I'm wrong, you just insult me to cover up that fact.
It is illegal to put Mac OS X on a non Apple labeled computer. Please refrain from committing crimes. You have broken the Apple SLA. (By the way, sticking an Apple sticker on your computer does not mean "Apple labeled".)
I'm not putting OS X on a non Apple labeled computer, I'm putting it on a PowerPC Virtual Machine, which is emulating an Apple labeled computer, sorry but it's legal.
Like I said, it IS running on an emulated Apple labeled computer, PearPC and CherryOS, another Mac emulator aren't secret things, they were first shown at CES and CherryOS actually costs $50, if it was illegal don't you think Apple would have done something about it by now?
PearPC and CherryOS are not made in third world countries, they come from the US, can easily be found by anyone, exist on one constant domain (so they aren't hiding anywhere or from anyone), also, since when is Microsoft ignoring pirated copies of Windows? Last time I checked they were fighting software piracy, yet Apple hasn't done anything to the makers of PearPC and CherryOS.
Why do you still think it's a violation of the SLA? It's not running on a non-Apple computer, just because it's emulated doesn't make it any less of an Apple computer.
Apple LABELED Apple LABELED Apple LABELED. And not just any sticker, but a machine completely assembled by Apple and Apple only (notice ASSEMBLED, so not made, like the Intel processors).
And how is an emulator of an Apple labeled computer any different? There is nothing in the SLA that covers emulation, prove me wrong, show me the part that says an emulated Apple labeled computer is a violation, by the way, I'm going to ask a few friends I have who work at Apple about this, because one of them was the one who got me into this in the first place.
Well technically it does work, you just can't hear it in most cases because PearPC doesn't support sound, there is an experimental version of PearPC that is supposed to however, and apparently some people have got it to work, but everything I've tried has failed so far.
It's not slow anymore, I was using CamStudio which slowed down everything, also I don't want or need to run OS X, and I definitely don't need another computer, so why should I buy a Mac?
You're right, camstudio probably slowed down the pc, but... i mean... running Mac OS X on an emulator on Windows xp, it's an horrid thing man, even if i must admit that PearPC is a good app. I want mac os x just on my mac.
I just prefer it, the whole taskbar UI beats the dock any day in my book, it's easier for me to navigate and much easier to develop on, especially when I develop for the platform, debugging for a Windows environment on a Mac isn't possible, well, I suppose it COULD be possible but it wouldn't be easy. Oh and Windows doesn't crash like most people want you to think, I've never had a single blue screen or error message in my life on Windows save one Vista blue screen I intentionally caused myself.
Really? You must have had a load of viruses then, because I never experienced problems with 98, besides, it's not really fair to compare 98 with OS X which came out much later, we could compare newer OSs but that could go on forever...
I was not comparing it with OS X, but even System 8 or System 9 are better than Windows 98! And i know that Windows doesn't crash when you use Office or Notepad, but if you use it a lot it will crash everyday. Period.
No, no it doesn't, I use my computer more in one day than the average person does in a week without a single crash ever and I run Windows, XP and Vista at the moment but I used to run 2000 just as much with the exact same result and before that 98 with the exact same result, however when I was running 98 I was younger and only used it for things like Neopets and e-mail, but it still never once crashed on me.
Eh? No, and it's not uncommon either, I don't know about 98 but from 2000 and up no one I know has ever had crashes either, sure lots of people (specifically porn addicts) have problems with slowdown, things not loading right, missing dlls, internet not connecting, new hardware not working right etc, but never a crash, and I do tech support for the neighborhood.
even if crash means something other, a missing dll is a kind of crash, admit it. From Windows 3.11 to Windows XP, to make the system crash you simply have to delete Hal dot dll.
There are a few other things you can delete to cause severe problems, but 2000 and on are pretty good at automatically replacing system files that are missing, and why would you delete system files anyway? Want to talk about how easy it is to crash OS X (or any Mac OS really) by deleting system files?
I consider a crash to be a full OS crash or a forced restart or "blue screen of death", a missing dll in an app isn't any of those, the app will have problems and a lot of times wont even run, but it's fixable.
I wouldn't, a cracker or a virus would. And there are two kind of crash: a reversible software-level crash, an irreversible software-level crash, and an irreversible hardware-level crash. Everything is fixable, but don't you prefer a system like Mac OS X which don't need to be fixed? And i can confirm that you can't delete a system file even if you logged up as administrator. You can do so just if you're logged as root.
My personal computers have never needed fixing, I've had to fix other people's computers though, both PCs and Macs, and please explain how this can happen because I didn't understand it at all, this one guy's Mac was missing the Applications folder entirely, he didn't delete it and no one else had access to his laptop, so where did the folder go? Needless to say that caused some MAJOR problems and needed fixing.
Nope, he didn't even know what root was, and I checked NetInfo Manager when it was fixed, root user was disabled.
And there was this one time I made a new network location in Network under System Preferences on a Mac I was setting up internet on, and System Prefs just closed for no reason and wouldn't open again, I fixed it by clicking the blue apple and changing the location back to automatic, I've only ever seen that happen on that Mac and on PearPC sometimes, not sure why...
can you please send me the information on how to get this. thanks much

PearPC and CherryOS are not made in third world countries, they come from the US, can easily be found by anyone, exist on one constant domain (so they aren't hiding anywhere or from anyone), also, since when is Microsoft ignoring pirated copies of Windows? Last time I checked they were fighting software piracy, yet Apple hasn't done anything to the makers of PearPC and CherryOS.
xcalibur839 4 years ago
1. CherryOS no longer exists. 2. Whatever Apple chooses to do is none of our businesses. 3. It STILL DOESN'T make you an exception from the SLA.
amrite 4 years ago
Why do you still think it's a violation of the SLA? It's not running on a non-Apple computer, just because it's emulated doesn't make it any less of an Apple computer.
xcalibur839 4 years ago
Apple LABELED Apple LABELED Apple LABELED. And not just any sticker, but a machine completely assembled by Apple and Apple only (notice ASSEMBLED, so not made, like the Intel processors).
(btw, if u respond, i can only reply in 3 days)
amrite 4 years ago
And how is an emulator of an Apple labeled computer any different? There is nothing in the SLA that covers emulation, prove me wrong, show me the part that says an emulated Apple labeled computer is a violation, by the way, I'm going to ask a few friends I have who work at Apple about this, because one of them was the one who got me into this in the first place.

oliver2341 4 years ago
Its very easy to do that, you must only have an virtual Pc( like "Virtual Box"[Free ware])
than you must install the system on the virtual pc and you have an pc in your pc
PS. For Questions ask me

rahmanroni 4 years ago
To rahmanroni:
PearPC is a PowerPC G3 and G4 emulator with support for Mac OS X 10.1 and over (Classic Mac OS NOT supported).
The program's in its early days, but its definetly an improvement from what is out there now.

ew but why.. Panther!?
Ishar94 4 years ago
Because Panther was the best OS X version until Tiger was released. Don't go criticizing other OS X versions anyway.

silly question, but does the mac's text to speech work on this emulator?
StarLightNSF 4 years ago
Well technically it does work, you just can't hear it in most cases because PearPC doesn't support sound, there is an experimental version of PearPC that is supposed to however, and apparently some people have got it to work, but everything I've tried has failed so far.

You can find the disks pretty cheap on eBay.
Are you wanting to run it on PearPC?

ERRATA CORRIGE:
Ahem... why do you use windows now.
Mat5913 4 years ago
Because I prefer it, I could just as well ask you why you use Mac OS.
xcalibur839 4 years ago
i had that lol it was so slow my pc is rubbish thats the reason i guess :)
cammydude144 4 years ago
Yeah if Windows ran slow than an emulator on top of Windows didn't stand a chance. =P
xcalibur839 4 years ago
it's slow as hell man, just buy a mac
Mat5913 4 years ago
It's not slow anymore, I was using CamStudio which slowed down everything, also I don't want or need to run OS X, and I definitely don't need another computer, so why should I buy a Mac?
xcalibur839 4 years ago
You're right, camstudio probably slowed down the pc, but... i mean... running Mac OS X on an emulator on Windows xp, it's an horrid thing man, even if i must admit that PearPC is a good app. I want mac os x just on my mac.
Mat5913 4 years ago
That's cool, if you prefer Macs then Macs are for you, personally I prefer PCs though.

My idea: Mac4life
if you change yours, just send me a message and i'll happy to help you :-D
bye
Mat5913 4 years ago
Thanks, but I've used Macs a lot, OS X in particular, so I know my way around the OS.
But thank you for the offer. :D
Seeya later.
xcalibur839 4 years ago
O_o you used macs a lot? why did you use windows now?
Mat5913 4 years ago
I just prefer it, the whole taskbar UI beats the dock any day in my book, it's easier for me to navigate and much easier to develop on, especially when I develop for the platform, debugging for a Windows environment on a Mac isn't possible, well, I suppose it COULD be possible but it wouldn't be easy. Oh and Windows doesn't crash like most people want you to think, I've never had a single blue screen or error message in my life on Windows save one Vista blue screen I intentionally caused myself.
xcalibur839 4 years ago
I've used Windows 98 for 3 years and it crashed something like 1.000-1.100 times, more than once a day.
Mat5913 4 years ago
Really? You must have had a load of viruses then, because I never experienced problems with 98, besides, it's not really fair to compare 98 with OS X which came out much later, we could compare newer OSs but that could go on forever...
xcalibur839 4 years ago
I was not comparing it with OS X, but even System 8 or System 9 are better than Windows 98! And i know that Windows doesn't crash when you use Office or Notepad, but if you use it a lot it will crash everyday. Period.
Mat5913 4 years ago
No, no it doesn't, I use my computer more in one day than the average person does in a week without a single crash ever and I run Windows, XP and Vista at the moment but I used to run 2000 just as much with the exact same result and before that 98 with the exact same result, however when I was running 98 I was younger and only used it for things like Neopets and e-mail, but it still never once crashed on me.
xcalibur839 4 years ago
What's your name? S.Peter, Santa or Mandrake?
Mat5913 4 years ago
Eh? No, and it's not uncommon either, I don't know about 98 but from 2000 and up no one I know has ever had crashes either, sure lots of people (specifically porn addicts) have problems with slowdown, things not loading right, missing dlls, internet not connecting, new hardware not working right etc, but never a crash, and I do tech support for the neighborhood.
xcalibur839 4 years ago
even if crash means something other, a missing dll is a kind of crash, admit it. From Windows 3.11 to Windows XP, to make the system crash you simply have to delete Hal dot dll.
Mat5913 4 years ago
There are a few other things you can delete to cause severe problems, but 2000 and on are pretty good at automatically replacing system files that are missing, and why would you delete system files anyway? Want to talk about how easy it is to crash OS X (or any Mac OS really) by deleting system files?
xcalibur839 4 years ago
I consider a crash to be a full OS crash or a forced restart or "blue screen of death", a missing dll in an app isn't any of those, the app will have problems and a lot of times wont even run, but it's fixable.
xcalibur839 4 years ago
I wouldn't, a cracker or a virus would. And there are two kind of crash: a reversible software-level crash, an irreversible software-level crash, and an irreversible hardware-level crash. Everything is fixable, but don't you prefer a system like Mac OS X which don't need to be fixed? And i can confirm that you can't delete a system file even if you logged up as administrator. You can do so just if you're logged as root.
Mat5913 4 years ago
My personal computers have never needed fixing, I've had to fix other people's computers though, both PCs and Macs, and please explain how this can happen because I didn't understand it at all, this one guy's Mac was missing the Applications folder entirely, he didn't delete it and no one else had access to his laptop, so where did the folder go? Needless to say that caused some MAJOR problems and needed fixing.
xcalibur839 4 years ago
omg talk me about that guy that loses the app folder how did you fixed that prob?
(i will answer you this afternoon cause i'm going out right now :-D)
btw i like this replies. it's intresting to talk and share ideas and knowledge
see u soon
Mat5913 4 years ago
I agree, it's cool to talk back and forth through comments, see you when you get back. :)
I ended up having to completely reinstall OS X, but I later realized I probably could have just copied the Apps folder from the disk.
I still don't know why it disappeared in the first place though...
xcalibur839 4 years ago
that's just a mistery. i think that guy logged as root and deleted the folder
Mat5913 4 years ago
Nope, he didn't even know what root was, and I checked NetInfo Manager when it was fixed, root user was disabled.
And there was this one time I made a new network location in Network under System Preferences on a Mac I was setting up internet on, and System Prefs just closed for no reason and wouldn't open again, I fixed it by clicking the blue apple and changing the location back to automatic, I've only ever seen that happen on that Mac and on PearPC sometimes, not sure why...

Can you do that on Virtual PC?
mcmanigill 4 years ago
Not with the real version of OS X, the legal one at least, you can with a hacked version called OSX86 though, but that would be illegal.
