.... good ole' Morgan Creek in Chapel Hill is mentioned at the beginning of this song, and the town named the bridge over it for James, yes they did, it has a sign & all that, alright now! The amazing thing is, if you walk down to the meadow near this bridge & you block out the traffic a bit, well, it feels just like it use to by that deep bend in the creek with the boulders on each side, it really does.
@JoesDynamo .. Love Chapel Hill, (home is Raleigh), always heard it said , that God must be a Tar Heel, why else would he have made the sky Carolina Blue?......
Him and my dad sound so much alike... that kindof strange accent that he has... maybe because they're both from Massachusetts :) I like to listen to him when I'm down, maybe because it's comforting to hear someone who sounds like my dad <3
That was truly exquisite. His voice is absolutely wonderful, even today. I had the good fortune to see him at an outdoor venue a few years ago and it's still one of my all time favorite shows. The man's a genius. Brilliant!
JT is absolutely amazing - has been for the over 40 years I've been listening to him. 'Ceal1022' said it: 'This is my all-time fav by James.'
You know, even here in Arizona, we have 'country', believe it or not. We have woods, and streams ...and the largest stand of Ponderosa Pines (standin' 'side by each') in the whole US! (check us out on Wiki) ...not unlike North Carolina in that respect. Yeah, and we have dogs called 'Hercules', too. Amazing. So is this song by JT - brings it all back!
@thedrummer77 Yes, and if you have ever had the pleasure of being on Appalachia Lake, laying on the bottom of a boat, looking at the thunderheads in the mountain blue sky, listening to James Taylor, or sitting on the moss covered bench behind the waterfall, seeing rainbows in every drop, listening to the roar of the falls, feeling the cold spray, or swimming in the emerald green water, then you know you have been in one of the most beautiful of God's places, feeling the spirit of the Cherokees.
Ah Copperline! I saw him on his One Man Band tour when he came to my hometown Erie, PA and I am also seeing him when comes there on 5/14/11. It will be my eighth JT concert since I was 6 years old. This song takes me away like alot of his songs.
I would choose him to single handedly represent the human race

Very few artists can hold an audience with just their voice and/or minimal instrumentation. Well done JT. You are a true master!

Rarely does a singer's voice improve with age, but he is an exception! James Taylor is a rare gem indeed!
