wow , some of you guys are real live einsteins ! the crossed out foot print is a warning sticker for people to not step on the flap while walking at the root of the wing . pretty common warning sign on low wing monoplanes . talk about bullshitting to your fans . it seems you are quite the " genius " yourself .
Well, here is my 2 cents. Yes, very stupid! Yep, ain't no cure for stuipid. Did you notice that "Red X'ed area" on the aileron? The Pilot (?) has, in the past, probably stepped on the aileron, while getting in the cabin. You know, looking back, at his "adoreing fans", while bull shitting his butt off, and stepped on the aileron. So to miss it, the next time, I guess our "genius" highlighted it, so as not to step there again. Ahhhh, the problems with being famous!! Someone has to do it
@mmichaeldonavon thats on the flaps.. not the aileron... and for two.. thats a pretty common sign on low wing planes.. that or it actually will say "no step"....
@MrNandoMeis In Europe your aloud as low as you can go along as your not within 500ft of any one and you can go low over buildings as-long as you have gliding distance
Just plain stupid. Other than violating the 500 ft min in almost every part of the US, you can't see some ropes or cables hanging down from some lazy bridge workers who left them there over the weekend. Well, actually, you can see the cables, just before they slice off your wing. It's one of those "OH Sh......... moments.
RobertGary1 - don't know where you're from, but the rule in the UK is 500 ft from any person, vessel, vehicle or structure, so you could escape this rule if you had 500 ft of empty space between yourself and the bridge arches/supports, i.e. BIG BRIDGE! ;-)
Hopefully this wasn't in the US or was a controlled competition... What a jackass. The reason the FAR/AIM is so thick (especially part 91) is because as dickheads doing shit like this and fucking it up. What happens if this pilot has an engine failure just before he flies right over those houses or boat docks?
I flew under a bridge once in a fixed wing airplane with an FAA examiner on board. It was totally legal. Care to guess why?? (one for the trivia books).
from what it looked like he didnt have much room for error, he was surrounded by trees, nonetheless, anything looks easy when you're safe and sound in your living room watching on your computer. Real life is far different
pilot must have been shitting himself a little during the bridge approach! There has to be a small little thought in the back of your head saying, "will tail fin be clipped?"
When I was flying sea planes in the U.S. we would fly under bridges in the Sierras all the time (of course these briges are 1000 feet over the water). It was legal if we were taking off or landing per the FARs.
In other news, motorists on a local bridge all reported to have brown pants at the end of the day today.

True, true, it is the flap - sorry about that. The rest, "stays the same". Einstein. (needed a capitol E)

@mmichaeldonavon If you're going to correct someone, at least use the right word. It's a "capital".
