This is my favorite rendition of this piece. You perform this at best tempo so all the nuances are heard. So many rush it and the beautiful intricacies are lost. Do you have a recording for sale? Thank you for a stellar performance!
Gerhard Grenzing was the organ builder that restored it in 1978-80. Not exactly a little dutch revival "stick organ" but with interesting and obvious French tonal influences as well as expected Spanish influences as well. Fascinating instrument considering it at least in part dates to 1758!
@88washme I don't know what the correct tempo should be but I've enjoyed this piece heard at various tempos including one slower than this one and I enjoy them all. Not at all to critisize, 88, but out of curiosity, what is the tempo Bach intended?
Increible que una composición suene maravillosamente la toques con lo que la toques: violín, piano, orquesta, órgano... el genio de Bach es inagotable...
This composition sounds great whatever the instrument you choose: piano, violin, organ... Bach is the great master of all music
Well done, Sir!! Wouldn't it be wonderful if Daniel Roth could invite you to play at St Sulpice. You would do that superb instrument proud, and make many people happy.
An admirable performance. The instrument has all the characteristics of forty-eight smoldering old windbags, BUT I REALLY LOVE IT! There's something of mystery in the hooting bass, sort of like owls in the night. Thank you maestro!
Bach sounds even better with the warm reedy tones of the Spanish organ. Excellent playing also. This organist is a treasure as much as this instrument.
WOW... I thought Bach only wrote this for violin and lute. Those are the versions I am use to... to hear the counterpoint Bach intended for it is amazing.
He wrote several transcriptions... violin solo, orchestra and organ, etc. He never made a solo organ transcription though! Luckily Alexander Guilmant, Marcel Dupre, Andre Isoir, and Jean Guillou has all made solo organ transcriptions which are all different but equally fantastic!
Yes, I too like the tempo. Many classical musicians these days play everything like they're trying to impress the judges in a competition. This is played to sound good in a way that comes naturally to the performer, and what else can one ask of a musician? I think this is a very intelligent and refined performance. Thank you for posting this.

Schumann once said: in comparison to Bach we all are just amateurs!

I'm really thankful that A. Guilmant decided to transpose this piece onto the Organ. What a magnificent piece of music.

Very well played - the organ is not the best for Bach - but anyway - very convincing

"Old Windbags"? More like a nice new bellows and regulator, don't you think? A very nice performance - a bit slow, but very accessible.

Interpretacja jest niezwykle dobra i jak najbardziej poprawna.

I appreciate the slower tempo. It seems to add a feeling of power, rather than the delicate feeling I get from a faster tempo. I like it. Thank you.

That is a NICE sounding organ. Also, I love the easygoing tempo here. I'm used to this being performed by firecracker violinists.

This is the best performance of this that I have heard. The tempo is great... not too fast, but plenty of energy. Thank you, from a fan in the USA!
