I think its because its the first character you earn in the game, and your in the begininng.. And don`t know much about the game, So its possible people get so excited they get a new character they play as Beat. My theory. x]

jet grind radio in my opinion was better than jet set radio (in my opinion) probably cause i like originals, the originals were beat,(leader with cool glasses) slate( the one in the orange jumpsuit and brown hair) yoyo (the little jerk in the green hoodie) gum( the girl in the wierd hat and green strpped sleeves) and tab( the guy with a mask over his eyes) after jet grind radio beat left the team up to tab( or corn) and his turf was odanzaga hill and etc
